I'll go try that. I've got a head I really like but that mouth thing is driving me crazy. I wore a retainer for years to correct that problem with my own jaw so it hits home. I need to study the info on the eye placement some more too. Thanks Aleithian!

You're welcome. Feel free to post pics for comments. I'm still having trouble with certain aspects of facial structure, namely cheeks and mouth position.

This thread is so great Aleithian, so helpful!

I have a question if anyone can answer, I am trying to re-create this character I love in pictures (author doesn't remember the sliders) and I am confused on something with the chin shape.

In picture one the chin looks slender:

However in picture two (front view) it looks much wider.

http://tinypic.com/v...=8#.VItJLXte-N2

How would I achieve this? I am using the preset they could remember using, but I can't nail this chin down. Would it be slimming down the jaw or pulling the jawline back? Chin shape in or out? Maybe cheek shape? Any advice would be much appreciated (I have been trying so many times to get it right). :)

The jawline is low and somewhat forward. But without seeing your version I can't say how much that would help. The chin is clearly wide - when setting it's width, use the mouth size as your measuring stick. And use the second pic. The 'thinness' of the chin might be an effect of the chin being somewhat forward (use chin size to set it).

Thank you, I will try this and when I get close I will post some pics. It would probably help if I wasn't so picky! :P

After an hour or so of playing with the chin shape slider, Aleithian, I came up with a pretty good female elf mage. There's a tiny bit of overbite when she talks but I can live with it. She's based on Preset 1 in the CC and I increased her eye size a little since I think elves have bigger eyes. I'd post a picture but in all the years I've been coming here, I've never been able to figure out how to post one without an error and the help forums are useless on that topic. Thanks again!

To post a pic, select the little picture icon in the bar above the text entry box. You'll get a prompt asking for a url. Use the url that includes the .jpg. So for instance, I use imgur, and when I open a pic to post on the imgur site, I get a list of urls. I use this one (for instance): http://i.imgur.com/bj0j16X.jpg

I just wanted to pop in and thank the author and contributors to this thread.  I am by no means an artist by any stretch of the imagination so to read this info was enlightening.  it helped immensely at getting my dear Imogen as close to perfect as I could get her.

Thanks to all!

I don't have an image website I use so I signed up for imgur, Aleithian. I've noticed through play that she still has that overbite when she talks but it's reduced. She looks great if she keeps her mouth shut. lol

I just can't get it right so I surrender. I don't have enough knowledge of the subject to get it any better. I really dislike this CC. I preferred the DAO and DA2 CC better. They were much easier to maneuver through and use.

Here is my female human rogue from my first complete playthrough. I created her a month ago so I'm not sure what preset I based her on. Sorry about that! I admit she looks much better in game than this throne room picture. The best images occur in cutscenes and this was taken in a finished game.

I can't tell you what a difference it made actually measuring out Quizzy's face proportions.  It's night and day to my first two attempts.  My first had his eyes too far apart.  With the second, I played with the cheeks too much and his teeth actually came through his face when he smirked.  Which, for a snarky rogue, he did a lot.  Poor thing.  Thank you for making this thread.  I finally have a Quizzy it doesn't hurt my soul to look at.

I think one of the big differences is the thinness of the upper lip in the first picture. You might want to increase it via the up-down slider in the mouth width setting.

My biggest problem with the CC system (other than the lack of eyebrow control) is the cheek system. I can't control it the way i want. I think when the DA2 system is added I'll be able to take more control, but until them I've burned myself out trying to control it.

I made my character with the visual aid of the mask of divine proportion. It was far from perfect as it only took me less than an hour, and I am considering restarting the game to tweak it some more. Any suggestions?

God, this really was a lifesaver for me. I made my first Inquisitor in a hurry because I was in a rush to play right at midnight. All through the playthrough, I noticed things that were "off" about her face. So I decided to reroll her recently, and actually took the time to make sure everything was (mostly) more proportional. The difference is pretty staggering, especially side-by-side.

She feels a little less mature, but never let it be said that double-checking proportions isn't extremely helpful. :P

Did you place the nose halfway between the eyes and the chin rather than between the brow and chin? I'd raise nose a touch, make sure the mouth is at the 1/3 mark, reduce the eye spacing a tiny bit, and maybe widen the mouth a touch. Feel free to post a bit for comparison. :)

Hi all. Just to say that if you want an easy image overlay tool, you should try Floaty http://www.polycount...ead.php?t=99709. It's an fab little exe application and it works like a charm. I use it with a golden ratio proportions mask like this one.

face.JPG

Only thing letting the whole set up down if that my character can't help but move her friggin head every two seconds, which is hugely annoying. I do wish they would give us something to toggle this off. It's worse than getting my 1 year old nephew to sit for a photo. :-/

Thoughts anyone?

I tried to do realistic proportions just by eyeballing it and using the guidelines, I like the face but something seems off about the eyes and I can't quite put my finger on it.

Are the ears not in the right spot? (I'm horrible at eyeballing too...ears and jawlines are my worst enemy.

Problem with the ears is clipping on the hair, any higher and they clip.

I increased the eye size and positioned the ears to a point where I can tolerate the clipping I think she looks better, a bit more childish unfortunately but I can live with it.

Another question, ginger or brown hair? I'm kinda liking the orange.

Eyes are too far apart. You might try slightly widening the nose bridge too. You might try lowering the eyes a tiny bit too after bringing them in. Either hair color works, but the first makes her look older. I love the pouting lips in an elf, by the way.

She looks great! The eye color leaps out, especially with the hair. I look forward to seeing more pics!  :)
