Great - I went to recreate my elf character and the screenshots didn't save the sliders for some reason. So now I have to recreate her from pictures...Sigh...

I am really bad at using printscreen because either the picture is of a different frame or I just completely forget to press the key. But per your request, here is another picture. ![]()

I had trouble making up my mind on the hair and eye colors. I am really glad that this combination turned out well.

Wow, she's stunning. Really great work on this. That scar really stands out beautifully.

Question, how can the scar stand out so much? Mine looks kinda faded and not "red" like yours does. HOW D:
Are you playing on console or pc? if so, low or ultra? I play it on PC with card that fits for the game, and yet scars aren't like that. :/ Oh and with full ultra setting.

I am playing on a laptop at the moment, so I don't really know if it is going to look the same on my pc. However, I do know something that might cause this. When you are in the character creator, do adjust the intensity of the scars every time you change them. Make sure that the slider is ACTUALLY all the way to the left, not just seemingly so.

I swear, i did this... D:

Scar intensity is bugged I think. I had problems with a character I created.

If it's indeed bugged why is no one adressing this bug so it can be added to next patch. ![]()
The OP's suggestions work wonders for female qunari as well. I'd add that if you use a actress or model to give you an idea of what to go for, that helps. I framed my qunari with Olivia Wilde in mind. The goal isn't to make the character look like the model, but to give you an idea of what the proportions should mimic.

Oooh very nice qunari female!

Wow, that did work well for a female qunari, didn't it. I also use actresses - or any people I see really - as inspiration for characters. I've developed an annoying habit of analyzing almost every face I see: breaking it into sections, comparing proportions, noting how different placements might be utilized in the CC system. It's crazy, really... ![]()

I'm not certain that it's bugged, but it sometimes acts like it.
Everyone's Inquisitor looks really awesome! Here's mine though, I downloaded a grid guide somewhere then used a photo overlay program and based the proportions of that. Hopefully, he looks adequate. Haha.

Looks perfectly proportioned to me. I guess the only thing I'd say is I wonder whether the eyes should come in a tiny bit.
Just wanted to chime in and say I love Aleithan's character in the first post. I really want to use her model for my play-through. Is it too much trouble to ask for the sliders or should I just eyeball the picture and use your advice to get a close approximation? At the very least, I have trouble with the eye size and lip thickness and I like the eyes and lips you used on your character in the first post.

No problem. Here they are. The first number represents the percentage of the vertical slider, the second the percentage of the horizontal slider. In the case of colors, the single number represents degrees. I've moved onto another build of the character, but really new Bioware to provide an update to let me control the brow.
Thanks a lot ![]()
Thanks for this. I've tried over and over to make a character that looks good both in cut-scenes and in general play, and haven't had much luck, but I keep getting closer. (Actually, my first Female Qunari mage looks great, but upon eventually realizing that all Qunari armor sucks, I had to give up since I couldn't find anything for her to wear that didn't look boring.)
Anyway, this has definitely helped and I'm sure many of us appreciate your effort in putting this information together for us! I'm now happier with the overall facial dimensions (most of the default faces seem to have the eyes WAY too high, so you've got to jigger absolutely everything). There are still a TON of problems with facial proportions changing in cut-scenes vs. general play (entire head gets rounder in cut-scenes), plus colors and vibrancy of nearly all colors change tremendously (makeup, hair, even skin-tones are often radically different in the character generator than in the final product).
Although this thread is specifically about dimensions, it might be nice for those who have figure it all out to list things that they've found to be generally true in regards to what settings in the creator actually mean once you are out playing in the game-world...
Never had problems with this in any other game. I've always managed to come up with a character that looks like what I want in just a couple of tries, but not DAI. It's character creator definitely needs a total rework.
Tried as OP suggested, what do you guys think?
damn I hope someone made a mod to keep your character's face still.

Does anyone here have a good elf male face to display/discuss? I've been trying to create one for the better part of two days now, but essentially keep banging my head against the CC. For the human male I had no problem, made one I was really happy with throughout the playthrough, but with the elf.. it's starting to feel like the potential just isn't there with the available combinations.
My human male:

Also, Aleithian, do you by any chance have a screen of the eye colour positions for the character below? Very nice purple shade.

I love the "Iron Bull Approves" message. BEAUTIFUL inquisitor!

I don't have the screenshots, but if I remember rightly these are the settings (where the numbers represent percentage full on the slider bar):
Inner eye: 135 degrees on the wheel; V 50, H 50
Outer eye: 135 degrees on the wheel; V 25, H 100
Let me know if that doesn't work.

Spoiler
I actually started getting around to this and I wanted to know what your reference is for 0 and 100 on the horizontal and vertical sliders. Is the bottom left corner 0/0, for example?
I guess I'm having trouble visualizing what 50/50 or 25/75 looks like in game. If it's not too much trouble, could you provide a picture of what, say, 25/75 looks like?
