Soooo I finished Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts last night, and I just have to say that not only was that quest amazing... I am just sooooo freakin happy that you can reunite Empress Celene and Briala. I was really feeling for their relationship while reading The Masked Empire and I was never imagining that it would be possible to get such a strong wrap up for the book. Especially after my companions made it sound that the only way I could help Briala was letting Celene die and have her rule with Gaspard (which made little to no sense to me tbh)

It's just nice to see something I want happen for once. I am very pleased, thank you Bioware.

Anyone else happy for getting to reunite the lovers? What other outcomes are there?

I got the ending where you force all 3 of them to work together.

Bringing Briala and Celene back together is just evil.

After everything Celene did I'm not comfortable trying to get them together again.

Why is it evil? Their relationship was built on a lie, sure. But I wouldn't describe it as abusive. Now I love the pairing and really like both characters...and I choose Celene and Briala because I want them to work together for the betterment of Orlais. But everything else is their decision, I think. I mean, we don't really force them to have an intimate relationship again ;)

Briala is a pet to Celene, not a person.  She lies and uses her for her own purposes.  This is not a relationship built upon love or mutual understanding.

Celene paid the ultimate price for her deeds and Briala now leads Orlais from behind the throne like a puppetmaster. There was too much blood on the scales for it to have ended otherwise from my standing point. Pretty jarring that there was no real reaction from Briala after Celenes death, though....

I echo this question. It doesn't happen with all three working together?

Execute Celene and Briala and be done with it. Neither are any good for Orlais or even the Inquisition. Absolutely no reason to support either.

There is a three-halla statue door (a mission will pop up calling it the vault door when you are close) in the Guest Wing building of the Servant's Quarter. Inside there is an elven locket. Show it to Celene's handmaidens in the Grand Ballroom and Briala on the balcony just outside the Grand Ballroom. (You may have to resolve the conflict peacefully with over 85.) Use the evidence against Gaspard to support Briala when it is all said and done. Eventually, an option will pop up to try to reunite them. If you didn't have the locket, this fails, but if you showed them all the locket, this will work and they will reunite.

Celene successfully ruled Orlais for years while Gaspard will drive them into useless wars. That's reason enough for me to support her.

I think the key to achieving it is finding the elven locket Celene got from Briala in her vault. Once I did that I talked to Celene's girls in waiting and showed them the amulet. This makes them completely freak out and Celene addresses you in person and you can confront her about their relationship. I picked the options that suggest Celene is still in love with her, the positive diplomatic top options. After I did this I basically did the same thing with Briala, talking to her right after and confronting her about it and suggesting Celene is still in love with her.

Obviously when you get the choice to you, you let Celene live and the conversation after you bad mouth Gaspard and say that Briala helped you protect Celene.

Briala is a pet to Celene, not a person.  She lies and uses her for her own purposes.  This is not a relationship built upon love or mutual understanding.

Yeah that totes why she gives into what Briala wants when you reunite them back together. That's totes why Celene always worked forelven rights while they were together before their falling out. Say what you want but it's made clear by both of them that it's what they wanted. I did not force them to get back together, I only brought to light that they both still cared for each other. And Briala show's concern for Celene's life before you even show her the amulet, and Celene takes a big risk by adding Briala to the court formally when she see's that Briala is willing to forgive her, they're on equal footing now.

Well, damn.Time to redo a lot of that quest, then. I thought that that door just included more junk like the previous halla doors.

Succesfully, until it all fell apart....

and I got no useless wars in my epilogue with Gaspard, he gets along with Alistair and works to contain Tevinter

I would save all the hallas you find for that door specifically. I found them unnecessarily hard to find myself.

Also Celene keeps her personal belongings locked up by use of Elven symbolism... hmmmm.

Eh, I had plenty of fun verbally spanking all three of them with the blackmail options and forcing them to work together. It's always a hoot when people who nearly died because they were busy scheming against each other have to start at ground zero again because someone took a light to their darkest corners and made them scurry around. They'll be too busy watching me to hatch any new plans for the time being, and I'll have Orlais more or less secure. Who knows what will happen in the meantime, and if they tear it all down again after I fix the problem ... oh well. Let them.

did you read The Masked Empire?

Their relationship was not healthy, it was not stable, and it was not something anyone should go back into.

Doesn't he invade Ferelden? I remember reading something like that.

Unless that was a lie.

Quite. Their relationship was built on a lie, and I don't think they should get back together in such an abusive relationship.

I support Gaspard with Briala backing him.

He does if you don't do a war table mission where he and Alistair come to an accord, if that happens Gaspard pulls troops away from the Ferelden border to Tevinter

I did read it.
The only thing that was really bad about it was Celene's lie about Briala's parents. But Celene took a huge risk to even save Briala's life in the first place. If Celene had not taking the steps she had taken in the game, it is likely that neither one of them would even still be alive to even have this argument.

Leliana's dialog during DA:I makes it clear that their relationship was risky business for Celene's reputation, it's made very clear that despite the lie, in both the book and DA:I, Celene cares deeply for Briala, beyond being "just a pet". Also we're talking about Orlesian nobilty having healty personal lives. This is probably as good as it gets.

And they are not going into the relationship on the same terms. Briala is now formally a member of the court and is the representation of her people in her government, like she always wanted in the first place, and basically has Celene wrapped around her finger.

It was built on lies and murder.

And I would absolutely describe it as abusive. Not physically abusive, but emotionally abusive. Celene thought that their relationship could continue as normal with Briala locked in a tower as a prisoner for the rest of her life.

Seriously. That relationship is sick and broken.

You need 5 halla statues to open a door in the royal chambers. You'll find a man there who wants to confess that Celene knew about Gaspard's soldiers.
