Was her plan in her internal monologue while on her way toward the elf uprising. She and Briala later argue about it while they're in the woods heading towards the dalish.

I am going off memory; it's been months since I've read the book and I don't have a copy any more. But she intended on imprisoning Briala for killing the nobleman(a kill she sanctioned) to appease everyone and show that she wasn't going soft on elves.

LMAO!!!!! I must have missed this.

Yeah, I remember Celene wanted Briala to kill someone earlier in the book. So she would have set that up and then pinned it on Briala? I was confused about Briala killing that person, because then it just dropped...

Well, I did it. And my Inquisitor didn't read the book, so for all the evidence she found in-game, it was a purely good-intentioned lovers' reunion. I personally am quite willing to give them another chance, and... will remove Weekes from my blacklist (and I suppose he did write Cole, who's among my favorite companions ever).

Briala would have been under "house arrest". She wouldn't have been a prisoner, just unable to officially leave the palace. Not that that would matter since as Spymaster, she'd be sneaking out anyway.

If this was a relationship IRL would you think putting your partner under house arrest would be acceptable?

. On the scale of "Cute to Psychotic" this is downright disturbing.

As opposed to watching her be killed by nobles? Briala did just murder a nobleman.

. Then put her in hiding, not a love nest

Okay so what do I do to get Briala to rule behind Gaspard?

The relationship is pure problematic, sadly. And i really i cannot, just cannot see Briala accepting Celene back after what she did do to her.

It's just.... unforgivable. Even if Celene got "pushed" to do the things she did in the past, the damage is already done.

Yeah it's surprisingly sicker than Leliana/Marjolaine.

Sitting on the throne for many years, and being succesful is NOT synonumous. The mere fact that a civil war could start under her rule, without it being a matter of succession, is testament to how entirely inefficient she has been. To the chopping block with her.

Gaspard, the alternative, is the one who started the civil war just b/c he was greedy and wanted the throne. He admits as much in TME.

That is an oversimplification, but also an irrelevant one at that. The mere fact that he could start a civil war, is testament to the displeasure the nobles felt at Celene's rulership. If she had been a highly effiient and good ruler, then Gaspard's rebellion would NEVER have gotten off the ground to begin with. He simply wouldn't be able to gather supporters.

Um Marjolaine never loved Leliana, stabbed her literally and sent her to an actual prison where she was tortured and possibly raped... But Celene is bad because of a choice she was forced into when she was 16? Also Brialas mom literally did the same thing for her daughter

they were unhappy because she was doing progressive/liberal things. Like letting elves go to school. She's sooo ebulz

She was also letting Elves butcher and maim a couple of hundreds of humans without opposistion.

It isn't the university the nobles oppose. It is her absolute inefficiency.

Wait, so I'm assuming Celene didn't tell Briala what her plan REALLY was when she told Briala to kill the noble.

Hmm I am only getting the option at the end to reunite briala with celene, which results in gaspard's death.  How do you get all 3 of them to work together?  I found the locket and talked to both of them about it.

No, that's exactly what the conservatives and reactionary nobles oppose. Or do you think they blamed her because she led Orlais to an era of unprecedented peace/prosperity and brought on something of a golden age?

"unprecedented peace and prosperity" The country is ravaged by civil war, and the breach kills the Divine, ushering in a time of calamity for all of Thedas. But DAMMIT if Orlais isn't in a golden age! Because what? Because Celene says so? Yeah.. We are gonna need something with a little more credibility than her.

No, because the codex says so. It doesn't get any more credible.

You realize that most of the codex entries are penned by Chantry scholars that Celene patrons, yes?
