I am 23 hours in for my human male mage inquisitor. I would like to make a couple of alt characters, but I am torn on sticking with the adventures of my main character. What about you guys/gals?

I want to make a few alts, but im worried that if i change my difficulty for one game, it will change for the other, plus im just at the "beginning" of skyhold. so i still have so much to do in my main playthrough, but im excited to try different world states with different characters

I have a level 14 male warrior (2H) and a male level 14 mage. I was too afraid to finish the main story and still haven't. 

I will finish it first on my warrior though, and than maybe start a rogue female one from scratch.

I want to try all the races all at once, but I'm staying with the character I started with. I want to get to the end before I get it spoiled for me somewhere. Also I kind of ruined Skyrim for myself by starting over again and again--I got so sick of the first few hours of the game that after a while I just didn't want to go back to it.

I think I am going to create other alts and bring them up to the level of my main. I'll keep them all at the same level switching between them as they level.

I reject the main/alt dichotomy. There are just characters.

And I typically have lots of them.

Not yet. I'm currently 42 hours into the game with my mage and I'm not bored with it at all. I am wondering how the game will be like as a warrior though, so will likely create one before I finish the mage playthrough.

I have an alt female and will have another soon, but I won't go very far with either until I finish the game.

Already done with my "canon" Inquisitor, so I'll make others for the other savestates I have in the Keep and replay her to fix the choices I botched in my first run. At the moment, I'm just trying to make a male qunari to romance Dorian that doesn't look he was lightly chewed by a dragon before the game began.

Wasted an hour making my my first character, and a few more hours because I got the gender bug and was taking my time not realizing it was a permanent bug. Second character came out fine. Spent another hour making a qunari alt and I got the "stuck in the fade " bug. I refuse to waste any more time making new characters until BW fixes this buggy mess; this game needed another 6 months minimum.

Going to be trying the qunari and dwarven characters for sure to see how the story and interactions change. Sticking with my elven mage for now though.

I have a level 20 male quanari two-handed warrior that I'm 72 hours into the game with right now.

I just started playing my second character, a female dwarf sword and shield warrior this morning. She just got to Haven.

Got three other characters created and waiting in the wings too!

Which is what makes this game fantastic to me.

I'll probably start one eventually. 

 

Sometimes I get so attached to my main character that I can't ever get through alternative playthroughs, though. Happened with DA:O.

Well right now I just have 6 all humans one each class and gender. I play a different character each day. As I get a little further in I'll do the same thing with the other races. That's more or less what I've done with all the DA and ME games.

You don't have to worry unless you're going for the achievement for Hard/Nightmare.  Difficulty can be adjusted in the game to raise or lower as you like.

 

As to OP.  I can't do Alts in this kind of game.  I have to make one character, play to completion and then start another or the first would never get finished.  So I have alts planned, what I will do etc, who they will be, but I won't actually make them till I am ready to see their story.

 

*Edit* I also lose track of what i am doing from story to story if I have more than one character running.

Honestly the best way to play a dragon age game is several times with different characters!
