Wait seriously?
People are mad there's not an onscreen sex scene?
Is it even implied she and the Inquisitor aren't having sex?

Apparently people are upset that there's not an onscreen sex scene. And, nope, it's not implied that they aren't having sex. It's left ambiguous, but that's not enough for some people.

It's never stated at all they never did it. This argument is just circle jerking.
There's no bloody satisfaction in that. Following that line of logic, I may as well just imagine the entire game and save myself a few bucks. And the results aren't really onscreen either.
Ok?

No, it is not. Ambiguity is just not being given an answer, and I hate not being given answers.
This circle jerk is killing me...
Use your imagination
Such is what I've been forced into, but I hate how it's used here.

Then don't do the romance?
Then don't do the romance?
Not an option. Josephine only has one major nuisance; Sera consists entirely of them.

And it just keeps going forever and ever and ever ![]()

and you are compelled to do a romance why?

That wouldn't solve my problem with lacking this part of the narrative that I want to see, would it?

And that "major nuisance" is most likely not gonna change anytime soon

What can I say? I am an eternal optimist.
I think J's romance is fine w/o a sex scene. There's more than enough there to imply they could have. That being said I certainly think it could be improved by one. I also agree with the Disney princess thing... for the love of mike, she raises her leg when she kisses the inquisitor lol...

I went through this in DA2. I dealt with Merril, who for various reasons, I had zippo interest in hooking up with (okay, including Carver. I couldn't do that to my brother!). I dealt with Isabella, who was enough like one of my college buddies that I just couldn't (loved her, though!). I coped with Fenris, Anders, and Sebastian, the Drama Vortex From Which No Joy Can Escape. Sometimes, there's just no choices that really punch your buttons. And that's one of the joys of RPing! You can come up with a character of a sexuality where you can approach a romance you wouldn't normally poke.
Or you can just cruise down the freeway, with Varric riding shotgun, and shrug off all the heart shaped options.
I dunno. I just feel like everyone has their inner vision of the perfect vidja game romance, and it's not always going to match up with yours. Or what pops into the game, eventually. I'm probably not going to get an asexual Garrus mance, but what I've gotten is all right. I generally have no interest in hooking up with a character I've just gotten to 'know', but if you don't rush, you'll miss the ship! (I am inordinately proud of that pun.)
And the powers of interpretation are there for Josie. So there's that.

I didn't say it was bad. It just seemed a bit fairy tale. I'm not quite that head in the clouds but it was both cute and amusing.
There's no bloody satisfaction in that. Following that line of logic, I may as well just imagine the entire game and save myself a few bucks. And the results aren't really onscreen either.
Not really. You pursue a romance with Josephine. The game lets you do that. It's what they do while they're alone that is left up to your imagination.
Given Bioware can't possibly anticipate what every player that romances her wants out of the exactly, it's entirely reasonable. Some may want bawdy, some may want courtly. Some may want something in between.

And this is what I hate... maybe not as fervently as Sera, but it's certainly not good. They could have included multiple scenes and had a regular fight scene in place of the duel, thus solving the animation problem.
Is Josephine's romance really this ambiguous? To the point that you can present a compelling argument that she never has sex with the Inquisitor?

So here's the experience I just had.
After reading this thread, I looked up the Josephine scene and I thought "Thats it? Thats what they're complaining about? Its tasteful and discreet. Maybe she just wants to move slowly. She does everything slow, its part of her character."
Then I looked up Cassandra for comparison and . . . Makers Breath. Its worlds better. Apart from being shocked by Dragon Age actually showing some nudity this time that wasn't a demon* the romance was actual romance with some actual passion. A nice build up with the banter and the poetry, then a post coital under the moon in the grass, a tight zoom in for an intimate exchange about their future together and their feelings. Its not about the sex per se, its the intimacy and passion of the whole scene.
I wouldn't have been disappointed with Josephine before because, as others have pointed out, Bioware's sex scene tend to be awkward. But after seeing them really do it right with Cassandra, I am disappointed that I only have the one option. I mean I could go either way between the two of them as people but I hate how this is now weighing on that decision.

I'd say its possible that the kiss was just a kiss. She talks about being shocked that Inq would have feelings for her after "only a few short months." You take that together with her other scenes, and she's explicitly characterized as someone who is slow and deliberate in everything she does. Maybe she lets that go just this once, but maybe not.
Actually, I could put that down to how you handle her inner circle quest. If you do it her way, i assume your Inq is someone who's going to be patient and give her time to get used to the idea of you and her. If you do it Lelianna's way, then I assume you're going to nudge her to let go and take a chance with you.
