I actually have a bigger problem with Josie not taking my carta past well, even though I was remorseful. Is she any better about Dalish or qunari? She got on great with my human.
Does Joesphine have a sex scene

I don't recall her having any problems with my qunari's mercenary work. She seemed rather impressed by it, actually.

Ah, I get it. Yeah I don't think it's right to say she's not a romance at all. For some she is, but I will say that I personally don't consider her a romance for me. She's a good friend though. If I were to put another spin on the Josie relationship, I can very easily see it as her "Playing the Game" with the interested Inquisitor. But I can't really tell as I haven't delved into her romance long enough, but a small part of me thought it could have been the case. She seemed very closed off and restrained.

The problem isn't with people being disappointed over it, the problem started when some were claiming her to be less of romance because she doesn't have a sex scene or "straight males getting screwed"
Sounds more like a complaint claiming that "straight males aren't getting screwed" ![]()

Given her family's mercantile background, I think it would be understandable that she'd be a little put off by someone with a criminal/smuggling background.
But she can clearly get over it, given she is not race-gated.

Marriage has been established as something hets do in thedas, especially among nobility to produce heirs not for loveInterracial Marriage isn't illegal only frowned upon even in a backwards place like Ferelden, And Orlais has super liberal views of Homosexuality, so much so that even Viv finds Homophobia distasteful, despite being ultra conservative, so finding a Mother willing to do the ceremony isn't impossible, and even then Leliana or Cullen can probably do marriages given their ranks,

So if we end up with a Citadel-esque DLC for Inquisition that allows us to spend more time with our companions, is there any chance that we could get a sex scene with Josephine? Or are there too many people opposed to that?

I don't think many people are opposed to a sex scene with Josephine. They are merely opposed to people who write-off her romance simply because there is no sex scene at this moment.

It would go against the purpose of the romance which is to leave the level of physical intimacy ambiguous and up to the player. The writer, animator, and voice actress were all very set on doing it this way, so a DLC that does have it isn't likely.

I think think a large part of it is that people had certain expectations. Josephine is Antivan and she's bisexual. Pattern recognition lead to people making certain presumptions. Were those presumptions well founded or proper? No, obviously, but they happened. And people often get worked up when things don't meet expectations.
I'll admit that I made a glib remark in expectation of Josephine's sexuality once or twice, joking that there's no such thing as an Antivan virgin. I was wrong, and the joke was crass. But, you know, pattern recognition.
If nothing else I think that we're going to be on our toes for the next game. Enough patterns got broken this time around that safe assumptions are out the window, I think.
Don't forget the fact she was also a bard, yet unlike every other bard we've met so far she didn't use sex or murder while being one.
I'm really glad this game shattered a lot of the stereotypes that had developed. Makes the world seem more real when there are people who go against them.

good gravy people. You all need to get off the fast track of relationships. "No sex = no relationship" Who is the real Juvenile here?
It was alittle cliché (really my spellchecker put the little thing above the e in cliché?!?) but not in a bad way. It was well done if alittle cheesy. I assume everyone is talking about the lockin scene yes? The way I see it's alittle more like how relationships are, the couple being close and cuddling. Relationships isn't about sex its about 2 people loving eachother. Sex with the one you love, is just icing on the cake.
Not saying anything bad about casual sex its just that it isn't that way.

Pffft,
She only didn't use those tools because, by her own admission, she was a spoiled rich kid playing spy because she was bored and she ultimately didn't have a stomach for that line of work. Real spies will use whatever they've got at their disposal. Being sexy is an asset in that business (seduce people into talking), so is being big and physically imposing (intimidate people into talking), or being small and unassuming (let people rattle on around you because they're not scared of what you might do), or even being plain and nondescript (get in, get out and dare anyone to provide a useful description of you). You use what you've got. Given the culture of Orlais, if Bards are going to be anything distinct from minstrels, this is what they'll be.
Also, in the case of a "Citadel DLC" scenario, some more time would have passed since the original Josephine romance scene. If its still a no sex deal, that really reinforces the idea that its never going to happen. Games have to compress their storytelling, after all, your Inquisition is going to be spread out all over Thedas in about 80 hours, time is passing. Frankly, if it would annoy you then you're the sort of person I hope is annoyed.

Oh please. No one is saying that "we should all have mature sexless relationships". People are saying that:
1.) This isn't even necessarily a sexless relationship. It's one where there is nothing to say that it's sexless or full of sex. You can head canon this either way. If you want to imagine that they are having filthy, dirty sex every night, you can do that. If you absolutely can't get into a relationship where there is no obvious sex explicitly shown on the screen, then pick Cass's romance.
and
2.) There are mature sexless relationships and those are still relationships. If it's not for you, fine. But it is for other people. Making statements that amount to "If there is no sex, then it's not a real relationship" shows that you are either immature, inexperienced, or insensitive. Or maybe all three.

While I'm more moderate on a lot of issues presented in this thread, I do have to agree with King Dragonlord on this one; Josephine was a bard in the most technical sense. She didn't understand what it was she was doing; she thought it was a game, a romantic life of adventure and intrigue. The first time things escalated, she found she simply didn't have what it took to be a real bard in the sense that Leliana was.
That isn't a knock against Josephine. She's a kind soul. But she was naive and full of romantic ideas about a profession that Leliana's Song proved was anything but romantic. It's good for her she got out when she did. Would have been better had she got out earlier. But that she didn't use sex or murder while as a bard doesn't shatter any implications about The Game, it simply shows that she only got her toes wet.

The Citadel DLC happened during Mass Effect 3, so if DAI had it the same scenario it would be the same and happen during the course of the main game and thus either before of soon after the duel scene. If you think it would happen after defeating Corypheus, DAI happens over a few months and any post-game expansion would be only a few more months since it would start after the campaign. So at most they would be in a relationship for a year. There are millions of couples who don't have sex within a year or longer of starting a relationship. So the Inquisitor and Josephine not having sex within the first year together(and this is only if you think they don't) doesn't mean they never will.
And the fact that you hope people get annoyed really doesn't do you credit.

I know, I was just having a bit of fun. He called it juvenile. Well, I'm 35 and I think straight men wanting sex as part of a romantic relationship is not juvenile and I promise you no adult I know would think so either. I don't know how it is for other sexualities but Josephine is not asexual and there's nothing about her character that suggests it shouldn't happen eventually. Maybe not in the core game but if a DLC rolls the clock forward a bit, it would be silly not to include that. She's not THAT slow or deliberate.

No argument there. But its so worth it.
And yes, you're technically correct about Citadel's timeline. But its only set during the events of the game because it would be impossible to set them after, but pretty much the entire fan community treats this DLC like an epilogue because thats really what it is (they give the weakest nudge nudge wink wink explanation for Shepard stopping to have a party, but they knew the fans would accept it because they wanted what Citadel had to offer so badly). As far as I know (and I haven't finished the game yet.) There is no similar level of existential crisis going on in this game (I've heard you can continue doing side quests after completing the main quest). So my statement is based on a DLC that actually could take place after the main events of the game.
And Bioware has never been one to let a timeline get in the way of things. While you're playing, you have very little sense of how much time is passing and it can often feel like things are happening fast until someone in the game happens to mention how much time is supposed to have passed. You have to compress things sometimes to keep the pacing interesting.
And the only way its millions of couples not having sex for the first year is if most of who you're counting is abstaining for religious or medical reasons, neither of which would apply here (Josephine is a healthy virgin after all and looks plenty old enough). I mean if Cassandra will roll in the grass with you, there's nothing so taboo about sex in the Chantry that it would stop two healthy young adults like Josephine and the Inquisitor from getting it on.

I don't think anyone thinks that wanting sex as part of a romantic relationship is juvenile. I think that focusing solely on sex within the relationship is juvenile. Or that by stating a relationship without sex is somehow not a real relationship is juvenile. But just wanting sex in a relationship? Not juvenile at all. And totally expected in the vast majority of relationships.

The post-campaign expansion pack would still have to be within a year at most of the main campaign due to several of your followers planning to leave the Inquisition soon so they would have to not left yet.
And no, even not counting those with religious or medical reasons for abstinence the number is still in the millions. Counting those people would have it be in the hundreds of millions easily. Some people just like to wait, which does apply here. Josephine could be one of those if you think she is, just like if you think they are lovers that they are.

This would all be better if they had fixed the real problem with their sex scenes which is sex as the reward or end game. The sex should happen fairly early on and than the relationship should continue to develop. That was actually handled pretty well with Morrigan in the first game although sadly it only played out that way because she viewed sex as a tool towards her agenda. But afterwards it was about fear of intimacy and commitment. If you factor in the ending of Witch Hunt its a damned good romance. The best Bioware has ever done. Probably the best thats been done in a mainstream RPG.

There are a couple romances in DAI where the sex happens early on. Sera and The Iron Bull come to mind.
I'm glad they had a variance of how the relationships go as well as the orientations. Some were more casual relationships and developed into intimate ones, some became intimate at the rate the majority of romances in Bioware games do, and some develop more slowly to the point where any physical involvement may not have happened yet. It makes the romances feel more authentic rather than a formula like some Bioware games did.
