Need help - my inquisitor keeps getting butt kicked

So I've been playing about 40 hours. My Inquisitor is a 2-handed warrior and until now, I thought he was pretty kickass. As soon as he hit level 13, however, something really strange has started happening.

I literally cannot fight a wolf anywhere without dying. Everything seems to two-hit kill him whereas all my other characters in my party are like freaking Terminators at this point. Last time I went into battle against three soldiers in the forbidden oasis, I had to use about 6 or 7 potions on just the inquisitor alone within 30 seconds. It's completely absurd and I'm not sure why his health dropped all of a sudden.

Anyone know what might have happened or what I'm doing wrong? I'm playing on Normal, btw.

Are you wearing armor? (silly question, I know, but there are certain missions or conversations that seem to unequip the armor from your character.)

Yeah, I'm wearing armor with I believe a 152 armor rating and some other attirbutes like +5 melee protection or whatever. I've even crafted leggings and what not for that armor to add extra protection. I can't even survive long enough to get my guard up as even with block and slash, I still die.

What else are you wearing? Any items with "Take 1000% damage from attacks" or something similar?

I'm wearing a cooldown +5 amulet and two rings that grant me bonuses to my whirlwind and mighty blow abilities. And a belt that grants me +50 health (ironically doesn't seem to do much). That's pretty much it.

I´m playing a tank s+sh so i never die, but yes the 2h dps get some damage, not a lot, but some. Try to start with bullcharge then taunt and make your mage to put barrier on you at all times. Invest more on vanguard tree for extra guard. Send your tank first if you are dps.

curious, your lvl 13, what lvl are the enemies? I know you said your party stands their ground, but my warrior without guard got rocked in 2 hits, on a lvl 12, I'm lvl 6. But rest of party lived.

The enemies I was fighting yesterday and the day before were all level 11 or 12 so there's no reason I should be getting my butt klicked as hard as I am. At least, so I think.

2-handed warriors die fast in this game if the tank isn't doing his job. Rogues can stealth away or use sleep stuff but 2-handed warriors just have to take the damage. You might have to take over your tank for a bit and make sure he/she is effectively doing their job. Also give your 2-handed warrior HP boosting gear from crafting.

It could be that you didn't invest in enough Guard skills or passive armor buffs. I also play a 2-handed warrior DPS and find myself easily killed in a few hits as well. I make up for this by using combat roll and that one charge ability. Does your party have a Sword and Shield tank in it? Did you spec it out to be an effective tank by giving it taunt skills as well as the passives that improve those skills further?

If your answer is yes to all of this then I'd suggest getting the combat roll ability for some dodging power as well as the Charge, builds guard as you hit enemies plus lets you roll through them if you need a quick escape.

I might just respec as a sword and shield because cassandra and blackwall have pretty much been the A-team for me so far. Pretty much nothing can kill them on normal.

I do have some guard abilities, but like I said, I usually die before my guard kicks into effect. I've been killed by single arrows before while entering into battle against level 11 and 12 enemies. I always bring solas with me for barrier and that helps temporarily, while I use blackwall as my tank and either Varric as a ranged archer or Cassandra as a sword and shield DPS. Sometimes I bring Iron Bull instead of cassandra or varric but he's not very durable either, although nowhere near as bad as my inquisitor.

And is combat roll actually useful? I'm trying to invest in Vanguard and don't see a lot of useful skills in battlemaster.

If u play a reaver u can regain all your health with the focus ability. But of course if you want to live more, restart and play a tank. Try to bring 2 mages in your party, for barrier, and the tank, no rogue needed, maybe later for some unlocks.

Where do I find the reaver specialization?

Ask enemies to pat your butt rather than kick it. Apparently butt pats are motivational, so I imagine they'd help during combat.

(In all seriousness, I highly commend specing your tank with taunt abilities and get your mages to buff and also unleash disturbing amounts of AoE damage.)

Do you have a debuff for anything? Not sure that there are any but I'd assume there are. Perhaps you got hit with something earlier and now it is stuck on you until you use some kind of Tonic.

Lol. Truly inspirational words, sir makojoyriding. I'll plead for butt pats to my enemies.

I've tried looking for debuffs but I'm not seeing anything unusual. I'll keep looking though because I'm not 100% sure of this yet. I think i'll just spam taunt with my tanks and barrier with mages.

Some weapons have the "+xx% to damage received" property, sometimes as high as 300%, could it be you have one of those?

Yea, check if they have beserk on any gear or weapons. ALSO CHECK THE ATTRIBUTES. There Is a bug that causes defense to drop to like -300% for no reason.
