That's nothing new, often times when games are made things get cut and stuff you saw in development from 1 - 2 years ago will be completely missing. It's just how making a game works, sometimes stuff gets cut for reasons we will likely never know about.

Yeah, but it's not even the stuff that was cut, I can understand that. What I can't understand is why, for some reason, the gameplay itself just looks straight up better there than in the final product (imo, obviously), which should be the opposite of reality, should it not? I don't know...

I have to agree. For some reason the demo does indeed look more fun to play than the actual game.

Or maybe they took the features so they could sell them as dlc.

I was wondering that too :( I got to Crestwood, killed all the guys in the keep and claimed it and then killed the undead in the caves to seal the rift and I was like "I wonder when the red Templars will come steal my keep?" It's disappointing to hear that it's not in the game anymore :(

Did they not say that they would only show and talk about things that would be locked content? I remember that was their catch fraze during developement. Maybe a Dev could come here and comment. They did talk about it a lot then and later no info about it. Its like they thought that people will not notice. So this means they cut the varric/cassandra interaction that was connected with the mission.

I'm 98 hours in, roughly 80% through the main storyline, and still have one area left to visit.

I'm extremely disappointed to see that this quest was cut. In the back of my head I was waiting and expecting this quest. Also the original demo looks IMO more better than the current state of the game, graphics and gameplay wise.

I'm also disappointed that keeps are not customizable like they promised. And why can't we capture the keeps in the fallowmire and hinterlands? More work and not enough time?

Same thing happened with Mass Effect. Actually, a lot of good stuff got cut out of ME1.
