Do you all remember in the early videos were a dev that is liar now said that action speak louder the words in the game. He said this in one of the early videos of the game. I heard that there are more keeps and I heard you could make them have different uses be it for military, trade or supply. Why did they took those awsome features away when they clearly had them?

Do they hate us or something?

For the same reason you dumbed down your grammar: because they can.

I'm not sure. Why did you dumb down your grammar?

I never had one better I learned English by my own and thanks to tv and internet unlike you. Not all all are native users of the English language.

I am surprised that this company to seems decided to make game with difficult engines. They did a similar mistake with the hero engine in SWOTOR.

You still understood what I said what is your problem?  it seems its not that bad.

True, Skyhold feels like enough to customize, having multiple keeps would just feel a bit excessive in a game like this in my opinion.

He never said the game was bad.

Something very common in game development happened: They cut features.

There are several cases where developers, after the game was released, made avaiable very early game design videos or concepts. I particularly remember Rome Total War (the first game, not Rome II), where they had these really awesome ideas and uploaded a video several months after release that showcased them. Even the visuals looked better.

To be honest, this is something I'd rather not know. Because every single game developer does this. The ideas and concepts vastly exceed what is possible with limited time and money and since it's not 100% accurate to predict how these ressources are available until the release things get cut.

You might ask "why don't they just continue development". Let is ignore for a moment the fact that most developers have a publisher which will demand a set release timeframe sooner or later, or else! Let's take developers like Blizzard who just take their time. 10 years. 20 years. Whatever it takes. 1.) ask yourself, would you wait another 10 or 20 years? And 2.) not every publisher is like Blizzard. They always found the strenght to finish it at some point (and I bet even they had to cut content). There is a good chance that every other developer would find no end and the project would eventually fail because they run out of money or patience or both.

So...that's why this happened. And not because they hate us lol. :D

Yeah I guess you are right. I thought that since those features existed they just took them in a evil way. I never considered that those features could have tons of bugs and stress the engine too much. And they might not have the time to fix it in the time they are given.

Because in 2014 you cannot make a AAA multi platform game with a complex tactical or turn based combat and have enough sales to cover the costs. That type of gameplay can only be successful for smaller, most likely crowd funded, projects. If you expect Bioware or EA to ever produce a game like Divinity OS, Wasteland 2 or Pillars of Eternity, but bigger, you will be disappointed.

I played and enjoyed DAO back then and DOS and W2 this year, but I am part of a minority of gamers who appreciate that type of gameplay in a RPG. Having said that I also enjoy more "modern" action oriented games like DAI.

There is a saying "do never underestimate what people will watch." I guess it can apply to video games and you can say "do never underestimate what people will play." Its nothing bad in a world were there are billion of people and billion of things to judge what other people think is good or what is bad is pointless too many different tastes to say for most what is bad or good . I have a problem when I am enticed by the cake but I receive a cookie instead.

Like Massi said in these times making complex RPG= no money for big companies. If you want a real RPG then look for indie studios funded by gamers, check Age of Decadence couse It have everything that classic RPG should have, but It is more complex and very very well polished even in the alpha stage that it is now.

Half a year ago I read an article about how the development of Vampires Bloodlines went. Now, this was a particular troublesome development and I like to hope that not all developers struggle like this, but one of the key points was the constant struggle between the developer - who wants to make as much as possible, use endless ressources and create the best game ever - and the publisher, who is all about timetables, money constraints and of course the release date.

And as easy at it seems at first glance you cannot "vilify" the latter part in this process. Because people don't work for free. For every kind of project there needs to be a finishing line and money must be made. I think that's understandable.

Best possible outcome is a balance between long enough development time and earliest possible release date of a finished product, "polished" when we're really lucky. :D

I really wish there are some devs that are funded by a billionaire that gives them enough time an resources to make the game they want to do. Of course what they want should be in the approved project to which you can not add more and of course to be checked that they actually do what they planned to do. But then again I remember that most money very rich people have are not in bills of 100 dollars or more.

Sounds like you're talking about Star Citizen. Not really a billionaire that is funding the thing, but it seems like the gaming community has deep  pockets. :D

Not like that there is nothing stopping the creator from taking the money and buy a mansion on a tropical island and have wild parties everyday. I like a system where there will be serious repercusions if you do something like that. Like prison.

won't happen, they cover their arses with the terms and conditions we all agree to when we buy and install any game... and even if they were to face some consequence, they have armies of lawyers and more money than any of us will see in a lifetime to snub out anyone that gets too close for comfort
