I'm very much hoping that we get to stay as the Inquisitor in future instalments, I think this was the original plan with Hawke as it's kind of obvious that he was intended to be the Inquisitor in the first place but then the criticism of DA2 hit that on the head. I just simply prefer staying as one character throughout a game series, for me it allows for greater emotional depth and an interesting character arc. Thoughts?

I don't, mainly because I feel like it would limit the amount of story possibilities in the future of the series. I'm hoping the next thing will be something completely different from what we have seen before, and I feel like we wouldn't get that if we stick with the Inquisitor.

I would love to see Bioware make a Dragon Age trilogy like the Mass Effect games, where the main character and the LIs carry over from game to game.As long as they don't pull the stunt they did in ME2/3 by making screwing with the romances the way they did.

I'm not. I think part of the charm of the Dragon Age series is each installment having a different protagonist.

That being said I hope they go extremely heavy on DLC for this one. I would like to experience as much of the Inquisitor's story as possible. I'd even hope for a full expansion.

But when it comes time for DA4, I'd like to pick up as some one new. Hopefully with a toned down story, smaller stakes.  I think them alternating between the two extremes is a good way to keep things fresh.

I doubt they'll divert from the "new protagonist in every game" route, but it really is hard to imagine a character who could outdo the Inquisitor. Not that I'd mind a more mundane protagonist, but it's going to feel weird.

I feel like they originally were going to divert, That's why Cassandra was looking for Hawke in the first place. Well I'm hoping at least, I enjoy the consistency that comes with staying as the same character. It felt weird talking to Varric as the Inquisitor because we used to be such bros :P and well when we saw Hawke he acted the opposite of how I played him.

I want a new protagonist and new characters for the next DA game. The DA games are at its core about Thedas after all.

However, as Former_Fiend said, I want an expansion for this game.

I would certainly like to see an expansion or two for this game, hope they keep as much of the original cast as possible too.  For future games I think it is best they stick to new protagonists and different locals.

that is what I want. I would like 3 main story DLC, 2 smaller ones like Legacy/mark of the assassin/witch hunt and one large one like awakening.

after that though, when da4 comes around I want a new protaganist.

I agree that was the intention with Hawke. But I also think that ship sailed with Hawke.

A whole new game with the Inquisitor? No. That would ruin the charm that makes DA. This isn't Mass Effect. However, an expansion like DAA or DLC stories like Mark of the Assassin and Legacy would be AWESOME!!!!

I think they've said there won't be an expansion for DA:I. But I could be misremembering.

In an expansion of DA:I, I wouldn't mind playing my Inquisitor at all.

For future games I would definitely prefer a fresh protagonist + new companions. It boils down to personal taste, but I don't enjoy the 'recycling' of characters above them appearing as cameos in new installments of a series.

In DLC sure but I don't think I'd want to carry them through to all-new installments. The only protagonist I'd like to do that with is Hawke, but they seem more likely to just be a recurring NPC from now on (which is also cool).

In lieu of that I'd like to see them take another page out of Bethesda's playbook and do a series of four decent length DLC's like Bethesda did for their Fallout games.

Not quite correct. What they said is there wouldn't be a character dlc, Ala sebastian or shale. I highly expect them to make story dlc

Regarding expansions, I believe BioWare have said that they would steer away from expansions like DA:A, and instead focus on DLC one-shots like Amgarrak and Legacy.

I don't want a trilogy (that's a bit too much) but I'd like either a sequel with the Inquisition or a whole ton of DLC because while I felt content to leave my Warden and Hawke's stories with the conclusion we got, the Inquisitor seems to important to not expand upon.

I do really would like to have just one protagonist for a while, the dragon age series does not let you catch your breath for a min and every game its a whole new protagonist which I guess I don't mind but would like more time to bond with my past protagonist. I don't like how their ends are just written off or love interest either disappear or not together etc.

Its like a eh feeling whenever we play a new main character. All the work I put into my past protagonist is really all for nothing if I cannot continue to build off of it. When I saw hawke I was excited but idk how to describe it, been so long and am someone new so the excitement kinda fell

I doubt it tho with the dragon age series, am just tired of quickly moving on to someone else, but I guess the mass effect series is for that and not dragon age

Eh, it was okay I guess. I enjoyed Legacy and Mark of the Assassin more to be honest. I don't generally think that a 100+ hour game needs a 50+ hours expansion pack. Unless it is done like the Dragonborn DLC of Skyrim.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure they've also said they'll only do smaller story DLC, not full expansions.

Not me. I love my inquisitor and it's been a great journey. However, I am still hoping BioWare makes a character that is more like an underdog (Frodo for example). I want to play a character who goes from nothing into a hero. I don't want to play as a "leader" type of character which is what BioWare loves to do. Well I think DA: Origins was less of a leader type character. But yeah, I don't want to end up owning a castle/hold - become a lord/king. I want an epic journey full of surprises not knowing what to expect next instead of being a leader having a war room overseeing everything - it kills the suspense. But I guess this is what BioWare loves to do so maybe I should look into another company to write this type of story ...........
