Knowing what the Warden is up to, how do you think he/she would go about doing it? The message you receive pretty much screams DLC/expansion (unless it's been saved for a DA4 plot) so my question is how do you think the 'cure' for the Calling could be done/handled?

I really doubt it would be some magic hand wave that lets everyone walk away happy and would be something with potentially heavy consequences.

I actually hope it's not railroaded into one single outcome/solution and is dependent upon the choices made by the player in both DAI and previous games. What I would really like to see at the start of the a DLC quest been handed a list of possible approaches the Warden could have taken to find a cure would be given and you are given the chance to decide which one was chosen.

I've thought of four possible solutions that could be presented (strangely enough all of them involving another character has a name that begins with A):

A solution through Blood Magic (Avernus is alive): The Warden's solution involves a blood rite that requires the sacrifice of lives (would be a nasty twist if having let Avernus continue unhindered would result in the sacrifice been heavily reduced in severity), the ramifications that could occur if the Inquisitor walked into a chamber to find a giant circle of blood with caged prisoners to be sacrificed should be pretty obvious.

A solution through the Darkspawn (The Architect is alive): Working with the Architect the Warden has found a way to possibly block out the Old Gods call, however given the Architect's track record what could happen is uncertain and would result in a large number of Darkspawn (not all) gaining sentience and intelligence, for good or ill.

A solution through the Fade (Anders is alive): This one is probably the most overlooked possibility, however it is mentioned on the wiki for Anders that David Gaiber once hinted/suggested that his merging with Justice might affect his Calling by delaying it or even canceling it altogether. Working with him the Warden hopes to end the Calling through the use of spirits. This could have a serious impact on the Fade though and not to mention the political ramifications of working with the guy responsible for kicking off the Mage Templar War.

Self sacrifice/futile quest: If no other option is available or not chosen the Warden sends a message to their LI or the Inquisitor with a distressing tone of finality to it which prompts the Inquisitor to track them down. I could imagine this one ending with the Warden giving up their own life to end the Calling, or coming to the conclusion either by persuasion or their own persona that they would rather live out what time they have left then die to end the Calling for others now (if BW really wanted to kick people in the face they could have a condition where the Warden dies but it has no affect on the Calling).

I would actually really like an approach like this as it would allow the player to tailor the solution to which one their Warden would have most likely chosen rather then railroading them into one inevitable outcome/decision that may not reflect your Warden (I have a few that would quite readily murder a group of innocent victims rather then sacrifice themselves), plus the quest itself could be designed to be fairly linear to track down the Warden with the main difference been the final 'showdown' which would help with game design.

Whether the Warden him/herself shows up is not something I wish to get into deeply here, arguably any of these could be done with the respective involved character appearing instead (Avernus, The Architect, Anders, possibly others), or simply finding a final message from the Warden if they chose to die, though it would lessen the impact and weight of the finale outcome.

That said if BW could pull off having the Warden appear in person (and do it well) it could lead to one of the most dramatic (or traumatic) scenarios ever, if your Inquisitor refuses to assist the Warden in which ever solution they chose it could end with you been forced to kill the Warden, throw in the possible presence of past companions/LI's and what could happen would be absolutely heart breaking for many.
