Portraying all gay men as straight-acting is just as unrealistic and offensive as portraying them all as effeminate.
You need to relax and not assume things about people you don't know and twist their words.
I did not want to start a huge argument about the portrayal of gay men in the media. I simply pointed out that putting even more focus on sexuality in games does not appeal to everyone. That it can even seem offensive to some people to have the characters shove their sexuality in your face. Like my gay colleague who happens to find Dorian annoyingly stereotypical. As a gay man he should be allowed to have that opinion about a gay character, don't you think?
This has nothing to do with internalized homophobia. It's his personal taste/opinion. Nothing more. Never did I say that he or I think ALL gay men should act straight. That's ridiculous.
*I* as a straight woman have no problem with Dorian at all. I only pointed out that my gay colleague doesn't like how the character is written and does not want to romance him. Whether or not there is a predominant gay type in entertainment is beside the point. He does not feel represented by Dorian and many other gay characters.
Stop telling people how they should feel about (the portrayal of) their sexual orientation when you're not even part of that group.
