Like other soldiers, they hide behind cover and shoot people.

His power is incredible. Fear him, and hope you do not offend.

Allot of people really don't give the Volus enough credit. Sure, their not the best combatants, but that doesn't mean their not all pushovers.

Don't worry this isn't a spoiler, but it does show how effective a volus can be in battle

Yes... I would love a Volus companion! A walking bundle of death and hugs!

Hell, if Tali can be a squadmember a Volus can be. Either one gets a hole in their suit they pretty much die.

I seem to remember hearing that the volus provide ancillary forces to the turians, and that once a volus has completed his enlistment he can become a turian citizen.

I don't think they would serve as infantry.

Adminstrative/support/maintenance personnel? Artillery operators? Military intelligence? Even Gunship/transport pilots?

Just not on the front lines.

They are beautiful, delicate, and graceful creatures, so they are obviously sleeper agents. They're the James Bonds of the galaxy.

To my knowledge the Volus use their financial skills to hire countless mercernaries to protect them, but that still doesn't explain how they survived before they could acquire mercenaries. Perhaps they rolled around like Droideka?

There are volus soldiers, and they fulfill the essential "meat shield" role.

There have also been stories of krogan strapping several volus over their body when armor is not available.

that armor should be useablePosted Image

Not really... can you imagine ducktaping three fat midgets to yourself and then trying to fight?

Not to bash midgets, but trust me, midgets can't take a bullet to the face like a real man.

Actually, I imagine the first squad of volus soldiers wondering why there's handles built into the top of their armor - until the first time they're grabbed up by turian troopers and are chucked like bowling balls at the enemy....

If you played Mass Effect and paid some attention to the universe and races you know that Volus aren't the fighting type, and they rely on the big bad turians to watch their chubby little (or rather BIG) backs. Hell, it's because they don't have a sizeble army that is pretty much the sole reason their not in the council.

BUT if you payed allot of attention to the universe and races you know that Volus DO have some soldiers and do provide their own troops to the citadel.

My question is what are Volus soldiers like, besides cute and cuddely?

Beach ball men.

I think they'd throw credits at them, distracting them enough for a shot in the head by Shepard. But what I want is "Blasto" the Hanar Spectre.

This.

They serve in Volus auxilliary units that are part of the Turian military. While the Volus as a whole are depicted as a race of traders, they also produce some soldiers

My guess is that since the Volus are not as well suited to be infantrymen as the Turians (except on high pressure worlds that are similar to the Volus homeworld and colonies), most of them probably serve in support units except for specialized Volus infantry units designed to fight on high pressure worlds. Other Volus probably serve in a support capacity as tankers or artillerymen for example, or as supply, medical, intelligence, or maintenance personnel.

You also probably have some Volus ships that are a part of the Turian Navy, though I would imagine the Turians would be careful of what sort of ships the Volus supplied, just in case there ever was a mutiny. I seriously doubt there are any Volus Dreadnoughts, but they probably do supply some support ships to the Turian fleet. Small frigates, hospital ships, supply ships, ships designed for troop transport, ect. They might even have a few Cruisers as well but would most likely be limited to fielding much smaller amount than the Turians.

On a side note I wonder if any Volus units or ships serving as part of the Turian military were committed in the First Contact War? It would be interesting if there was a little more to that Volus ambassador's hostility towards Shepard than jealousy of humanity's gains.

Well they've been with the council forever so they must have at least a small militia or so. I wonder if they have any Spectres being with the council before the Turians they seem like they would be the only other non-council species to have one besides humanity.

I kind of always liked to imagine them in "mech assualt suits".

They can't possibly put all there cards with the Turians(disaster/betrayal) so they must have an emergency plan.

I can imagine that too. It sounds like something they'd do in order to pair up with everyone.

A member of a race being made a Spectre appears to be a preliminary honor/responsibility before that race has a representive appointed to the Council. Since the Volus don't have a seat on the Council and it doesn't sound as if they'll have a seat soon, it is doubtful that any Volus have been made Spectres.

IIRC the Volus ambassador in the first game even complains about that fact. He says something along the lines that humans would probably a seat on the Council before the Volus, because a human had already been made a Spectre.

At the beginning of ME2 there are probably only four races that have Spectres. Shepard of course is the lone human Spectre, and the rest are probably Turian (the largest group), Asari, and Salarians.
