Honestly given the reactions outside of Navarra to the undead is horror, I honestly can't picture it going over well with the troops, the chantry, the nobles, the common people and the families of the fallen solders not to mention poor Josephine from having to deal with the fallout.

I mean, the Inquisitor, Herald of Andraste, already identifies as a necromancer by this point so...

I always picture a inquisitor taking such a affinity having a 'accident' CKII style after the main story line for inquisitors who become necromancers, assassins, reavers and  then the knowledge of the inquisitor being such getting washed out of history like so many factions are want to do in game.

The accident might be hard to accomplish, what with the Inquisitor's loyal soldiers and their own skills, but his/her race and skills being removed from history is entirely in line with the way this setting works. I'd thought there was some chance that if enough PCs are elven that might help elves get the respect they deserve, but after Jaws of Hakkon came out I gave up on there ever being enough elven heroes to accomplish this over the long term.

I think all the advisers are pretty much one-dimensional when it comes to missions. I honestly don't even see a reason for including them so much in the game.

Could've just had random fresh nobodies as your advisers and make Cullen a companion and Leliana a one-mission character like Morrigan.

Having fresh nobodies serving these one-dimensional roles sounds worse to me. I thought the way they incorporated Cullen/Leliana was very resourceful of them. It let them expand on the canon of pre-existing characters that held alot of untapped potential (this is especially true for Cullen, who wasn't given as much exposure as Leli).

DA's basket of one-time used NPCs is already so cluttered IMO, and I personally would not enjoy having three Josephines instead. I like that two of your advisors are people you actually got to see accomplish and experience all sorts of things before DA:I. Makes it more believable to have them serve leadership roles for the Inquisition.

Well, what else could Cullen do? In what way could he have been more creative?

A kamikaze charge against enemy lines would have been nice. With him at the lead of course.

The irony is that some people here are discussing necromancy right now.

Noticed :D

I guess it's thread worth of necroing I guess, at least people have on-topic discussion to talk about. Not sure if morality of necromancery is one though.

Aye. :P

I do think this thread is worth of necroing, and seeing people discussing about the Inquisition's advisers approach are nice change, it's better than circular argument when it comes subject like Mage vs Templar or Orlesian politics. I rather avoid getting involved in that discussion imo.

One of my favorite Cullen suggestions was during one of the Trevelyan exclusive war table missions called Protect the Inquisition's Reputation. He really comes across as the outsider.

Dear Lady Montilyet,

There are scandalous rumors flying about Starkhaven, tales that paint the Inquisition as wicked usurpers and thieves. I suspect Lord Trevelyan's relatives, the ones we quieted before, are taking their petty vengeance.

There is a ringleader. Bann Dorner has taken care not to let any whisper be traced back to his household, but the man has a tongue as forked as an Orlesian bard's. If he could be made an example of, I believe the naysayers will fall silent.

Yours truly,
Lady Buttlefort

Josephine:

Bann Dorner sells his harvest to Antiva. If his taxes were mysteriously inflated, he'd have something to worry about besides us. / 0:20:00

Leliana:

Bann Dorner has feuded with Starkhaven's royal family before. If we start rumors that he intends to begin again, he will be too busy managing that affair to poison ours. / 0:20:00

Cullen:

These villains will never stop. I say we let them talk themselves to death. / 0:20:00

Cullen's response here does mean that the Inquisition becomes unwelcome in that area. Though how much that means is unclear given that you don't get any less of a reward from this response than from the other two.

Op...You need to take the time to read Leli's so called "solutions" as well.

Quis: We have a minstrel spreading bad rumors about us.

Leliana:WE MUST CUT OUT THAT LIARS TONGUE!!!!!

Quis:   *Starts backing up slowly.

It quickly reminded me of this...

Alistair...if you only knew.

...

Uhh, nope.

He rallied all the Templars (supposedly the Guards had scattered, but reformed now? I'll admit the idea that Aveline didn't kick **** into order annoys me) and brought order to Kirkwall from the brink of chaos.

That's was what sold him to Cass.

Aveline is terrible at her job. She's not corrupt which is something but we mostly just see her fall totally flat on her face at every instance in DA2.

Sadly, she still apparently manages to out-strategy Sebastian if she has to.

She only mess up once and that's because she can't be every where at once or hear everything that's going on in kirkwall. She's not terrible.

Agreed. She would be far more competent than Cullen I'd say. She isn't  an addict on the verge of falling off the wagon. She whipped Kirkwall into shape.

Point of order: isn't the reason Cassandra poached him for you because of his part in that? As for Cullen falling off the wagon my understanding of the quest is that he'll try to Cold Turkey despite what it's doing to him unless you tell him not to.

Hawke:We weren't hurting anyone but the people who were trying to kill us and why were just crazed blood mages, templers, demons, and gangsters anyway.

Hawke: While what I said just now is true, I was also working for a former raider who hired me to seize his cargo of poison that was being lawfully held in the dock at the favor of a pirate. Oh and don't mind the fact that I went against the guard's and magistrate's orders and killed a man without a trial because of how he treats elves.

When you manage a military, that's exactly what you do is use it. I see no real issue here

You're obviously missing some of the subtleties.

In the arranged marriage War Table questline, he's the one who will eventually give you the option to say "screw this arranged marriage business. We'll let the loving couple elope. Surely a couple of more people leaving with ours won't be noticed".

His "No. This is ridiculous" is because that bard is playing silly games with someone she's had "issues" with, and she wants you to play them with her--and he has no truck with that (and it's true, she IS). Likewise, the nobles-arranging-marriage. He's the one who makes sure the happy couple get to sneak away without all this "political marriage" blather.

Think more subtly. He actually capable of it, but he has no patience with the games that Leliana and Josie have been raised in so are therefore comfortable with. He's not a noble. He's a military man.

Also, the last time anyone played "stupid political games" around him, Kirkwall exploded. Just a thought.
