So yeah I know Alistair is in the game, but I didn't meet him once.
I 'sided' with the Templars and the only time he shows up is at Redcliffe.
In my previous games he is King and my warden is his Queen. Feel so cheated, making Alistair king was harder than leaving him to the Grey Wardens. Yet we get no pay off at all. Even more so with my warden being his Queen too and all you get is a message from her and never see Alistair at all.
Obviously leaving him with the Wardens is most beneficial.

... Erm... About that... I wouldn't call that devil's bargain choice beneficial. Not by a long shot.
And at least he shows up and has several war table missions assigned to him. Most of the characters barely get even that.
yea, I am disappointed too. I wanted him to show up even if I sided with the templars.
Hell the whole war table mission that he got could have been turned into a mini-zone/side quest of its own. That would be perfect and could have helped tie more of the world together.
I am way more disappointed that Sigrun isn't in the game. The best follower so far in the entire series.
If Alistair never appears in the game if made king, I support that decision.
Kings and Queens shouldn't be roaming Thedas like common adventurers. It might make sense to run into Alistair if Denerim had been a visitable location, but he shouldn't have a cameo similar to Hawke's.
He shows up in Redcliffe as a king. With Anora. He mostly just tells Fiona and the mages off.
If I wouldn't hate mages so much I might consider playing through their side of the story just to see Alistair....

If it helps you can conscript them and make them little more than your servants, and there are still several templars who joined your cause before the split.
Nathaniel Howe, anybody? That would've made Hawke's questline very interesting, in my opinion. Personally, I think the payoff is in not having all that drama with Hawke's questline. Alistair's king, right? So that means he's still kicking around in relative safety. Might be boring for him, might not be. Sad if you've got a Queen HoF that they aren't together, maybe, but I'd much rather know where he is and know he's alright than I feel the need to have him parading around in front of me.
Howe has an option or two in The Keep, as well. If I remember correctly. Howe + Oghren in a DLC, maybe?
His letters you get with the war table operations are absolutely hilarious.

I know right! Remember when Cullen was being a little puss puss in the circle of magi and had the Nsync hair? Over a decade later and he's got all dapper and Alistair's lost his groovy quiff.

Being a Grey Warden makes it hard for anyone to have kids. Plus, there is a rumor that Anora is infertile. The two of them also dislike each other, so it's like putting 2 pokemons of different egg groups together, the egg wouldn't "mysteriously" appear for the breeder to pick it up.
