Hi, I was wondering if anybody could give me some quick tips on the first dragon as I just spent a good twenty minutes getting it down to 25 %. I was quite heartbroken when I messed up and forgot to fade step my mage out of the dragons attack range after moving him in closer to avoid the Drag-In attack while he had no healing potions left. We got wrecked the second more dragonlings came because I had to use my warriors to get them off my low hp mage because revival was my only hope at that point, which is when the dragon reposistioned and burned everyone to death.

I have a two handed warrior as my main character, Blackwall as a tank, Cole as a dagger rogue, and Dorian as my ice/spirit mage

My main is lvl 11 and the rest are 10. I know you can beat it at that level on Hard, especially because I got it pretty low.

I plan on making my lvl 11 a reaver, upgrading potions for better healing, and getting some fire resistance (any suggestions) before trying again, but any tips would be lovely because I blow at this game (and I refuse to take it off hard)

TL'DR: I need help beating the FF on Hard with levels 10-11

Please no cheap tactics that heavily exploit the game to your advantage.

Here you go mate. Wrote this up for Nightmare, so should work really well for you. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!

Thanks thats actually a pretty nice post. My fight pretty much followed how yours did (in terms of how you explained each phase) but with some delayed reaction due to it being the first encounter causing some uncessary damage. Although it seems like my party was unable to take a well a beating as yours seemed too. I was constantly worrying about health management and went into pause/tac cam a lot just to issue orders like combat roll or fade step to avoid as much damage as possible.

Hopefully after upgrading my supplies and getting some resistance I'll be able to last longer.

Thanks! I would say after upgrades you're always going to have a better chance. Even on Nightmare I was still a few levels higher than you so that possibly made the difference.

I just had that encounter playing on normal, and since I wasn't that well prepared (I had no fire resistance on any of my peeps), it was a very tough fight, that I very, very, very nearly lost.

By the end I had only Solus alive, and he was out of both healing potions and regen potions. The dragon was on the top of the cliff where the last stage of the battle happens, and had a fair bit of health left yet, so after everybody but Solus died, I kinda thought that I'd lost it, but thought I'd play it out for the heck of it, seeing how far I got.

Well, I discovered that I could stand on the path to the plateau at a place where most of my shots would hit the ground, but the staff shots that go around would hit the dragon. The dragon, meanwhile, shot bolts of flame at me, but his  shots hit the top of the path in front of me. I was below the plane, so his buffeting had no effect on me either.

Finally, I had a couple of jars of bees, which I used, and between the bees and my occasional shots that hit their target, I whittled the dragon down, and he fell.

That one just might go to Solus' head, you know. Soloing a dragon, and all.

Congrats! However he does mention to avoid the use of "Cheap tactics" in his original post. I am in the same boat as well, I dont really like to play the game this way. Otherwise congrats on your kill, enjoy your loot!
