Because we are spending quite a bit of money on a product that generally either stagnates in quality or drops in quality annually.
Better yet, just look at Destiny. Just everything on that game. That's modern gaming in a nutshell.

Doesn't everyone play for fun?
People play to test their skill against others.
People play to win.

The ability to interact(or the illusion of such)is unique to video games in terms of artistic mediums; It's also the only one that locks you out of content if your gaming ability(Combat or Otherwise) isn't up to snuff. That can be annoying.
If a game didn't turn out the way you want, that could be aggravating due to Financial/Time Loss. $60 for a game is a great deal more than watching a movie in theatres or buying a TV show/Movie on iTunes or whatever.
Also when people 10+ years younger beat the crap out of you.

Gaming can be frustrating, and some people lash out. At home alone, this is not such a big deal. The internet gives them a way to express that rage anonymously with little or no consequences. That can produce a toxic combination.

People in general like complaining and raging about stuff that doesn't go their way.
This isn't really specific to gaming.

Because video games are used as stress release, hearing an angry gamer is them releasing stress right.

It doesn't seem to be gamers specifically so much as it is the internet in general. As to why everyone on the internet is always angry, I've got no clue. Makes me feel like a happy and well-adjusted person by comparison, though.
