All this time I had been trying to bump my Cunning/Critical Chance via Crafting, then I came across this Superb Ring of Attack, +10%. "What a joke an item, I thought myself". Perhaps I am bringing the DA2 mentality into this game. Honestly I never cared about Attack, I've been able to land most of my arrows with no issues, so that should be good enough.

But out of curiosity I went to check and discovered that my Inquisitor has only 25% Attack in her Stats, and the rest of the party are between 17 to 22%. It just looks extremely low!
Also, this time around Attack seems to be completely different, the Stats say it affects Damage.
Thoughts?

Attack is great, it increase all damage. Got it over 50% on my two hander and he slaughtered things very quickly late game on nightmare.

And yes, the defense/attack mechanics from the past games are gone. You always damage what you hit and take damage when you get hit automatically. We Dark Souls now.

Well, that ring is equivalent to 20 dexterity, essentially.

Determine its worth from there.

(Hint, it's really, really good.)

Attack % is not hit chance. It's pure unadulterated damage. Guess what you get with primary stats? Attack %.

Attack is honestly best stat in the game. It gives added damage to everything you do.

Thanks a lot guys. I had no freaking idea. Bioware caught me by surprising changing the role a stat that on the previous game had been something else entirely
I got a Tier 3 Bow Schematics that together with that ring will bump my Attack to 54%. It should make the game a lot easier now. I've just increased the difficult from the almost non-challenging Hard to Nightmare recently and I noticed a huge spike in difficulty, so it is crucial to know that Attack counts so much in this game.
