Multiplayer scores based on killing blows?

So I have been playing a bit of multiplayer. I like that you get to craft things, unlike Mass Effect 3. Although collision detection can be a pain due to latency issues and it would be best not to have it between players (like in many MMOs.)

Now the thing that maybe isn't very obvious to me is how people are "graded" at the end of each match. I guess it isn't really important. as long as the group gets through but in a way I'd like to know if I have been carried, or if I pulled my weight.

At a first glance the person who scored the most killing blows tends to be at the top. There is no mention of assists and I can't really tell how much overall damage one has done (it might be right under my nose, but I can't see it).

If it is based on killing blows, anyone can just stand there, do nothing and try to steal the last blow on something. I don't find that is a fair representation of anyone's contribution.

Can anyone confirm? And if that is how things are scored, then I would appeal to change it, although I guess it might be too big a thing to change.

To me it isn't really about who is the best, I just personally want to know my contribution.
