Seriously, I've been searching high and low and NOBODY seems to mention this ANYWHERE. What the hell happened to her? All throughout DAII, Default Hawk looked amazing and was a super neat design, one of the few things I had ZERO complaints about. But now... What the everloving hell happened?! This isn't Hawke! This is some REALLY shoddy stunt double that only sorta kinda looks like her if you squint a lot and try not to focus on any actual details! Is there no way to get back the face that once was?

 

I want my fem Hawke looking like this:

That shouldn't excuse Hawke looking completely different... I mean, Varric and Cassandra both look pretty much exactly how they did before just more high res.

I actually haven't gotten around to the point where female Hawke shows up yet, although I do have a world state in progress where she will. I have had male Hawke appear and to me, he at least does look like his old self. I really liked the extra beard scruff that they added. It gives him a world weary kind of look!

 

If lady Hawke isn't as close to her old self due to a lesser effort mounted in Frostbite 3 design, that is a shame. I too would prefer that they had managed a closer approximation; so I will have to wait and see how I feel about her once she makes the scene?

Custom Hawke was pretty good i made her look mostly like my Hawke just with some battle scars and a bit older like she's experienced things. I don't think the default looks that different just doesn't have the big scene fringe. It's been years since Dragon Age II do you honestly think they would look exactly the same? They never got a hair cut?

I agree with OP, and I don't think it can really be blamed on the new engine. I mean, the Hawke in the trailer looked right so why couldn't the one in-game?

In the end, this was the best I could come up with, being as poor with character creators as I am...

 

 

Also, what do you mean Varrick & Cassandra don't look the same? They look exactly the same but with a few new scars and a few hundred more pollygons.

I was kinda disappointed with female Hawke's appearance in the game, I have to confess. I think on my next playthrough I might try and modify her—isn't like she has the unique hair model anymore, after all.

Same with alistair and male hawke, alistair doesn't even look remotely similar. I had to customize hawke to make him look like the default in DA 2

Male Hawke looks bad and nothing like DA2's default face either, imo. You'd think that the one benefit of going with default is consistency with a new game, but I guess not.

Leliana looks nothing like her old self. Neither do Alistair and Anora. Cullen got a makeover too. I'd say all characters except for Varric are nearly unrecognizable.

I like the way female Hawke looks. She somehow became even more attractive, though I wish they would have kept her classic hairstyle.

No you're right about Alistair now that I think about it. He looked weird as hell too. But Leliana looks the same, she's just got a hood on all the time now.

 

I can't really speak to Cullen or Anora cus I don't remember how they used to look off the top of my head, since I didn't spend so much time with them.

 

Male Hawk DOES look like a crappier copy of DA2 Male Hawk, but at least he's close and recognizeable. Fem Hawk is entirely different. Like, I can't think of a single feature that's the same except for "Has black hair". Even the eye colour was changed to greenish from a bright blue.

I just wish you could do default Hawke without the blood smush over the nose - in DA2, there's two "default" options. One with and one without.

For the female one? I couldn't find it. I definitely looked for a few minutes - almost made a custom Hawke because of it.

Choose to customize her, you start with her default face and can choose unsmeared version.
