Hi Guys,

since I’m one of those guys who was looking on advices how to solo Nightmare, I thought there would be some other people that are interested in some tips.

First of all I’m not done with the Game yet, but ill most likely finish it soon. Im currently

I didn’t even finish the Game with a party and just went full tryhard mode in solo Nightmare, so I had to spend  a lot of time with learning about the Game mechanics and Monster behavior.

I played DA: Origins solo NM as a 2H Reaver, DW Rogue and and AW/BM (yeah I know xD) so I have some experience how to Solo a Game. I didn’t play DA 2.

Inquisition is somehow different you from DA: Origins since  you won’t be able to beat the Game fair & square. (If you did it tell me how!) What I mean is, you’ll shoot a lot out of Aggro Range, you’ll use Terrain to hide and block Attacks. So here are my tipps how I beat the Game.

First of all

  • Melee is just plain horrible. Mages and Archers just kill u before u can do anything.
  • Btw you cant fully solo the Game! Because the tutorial wont let u solo it ;) So the Solo run counts when you get to Haven.
  • Take a Human Main Char. +1 Skill Point is just Huge to start with.

Most Important Skills:

  • Frost Step!!!!!!! Bread and Butter Skill, without it, you wont be able to survive
  • Wildfire and Fire Wall
  • Energy Bombardment (EB)
  • Winters Chill (WC)

Haven

  • Do all Quests in Haven, you need every Point in EXP you can get.

Hinterlands

  • Ignore all Rifts at first
  • Get a Horse ASAP! You get there pretty easy. Just kill the mages and Templars from the distance by getting out of Aggro Range and Using the Terrain to avoid getting shot. When you reach the Templar Camp use the same tactic or just Frost Step through it run to the River and from there on through the forrest to the Stables. Get the Quests
  • The towers are pretty easy, the wolfs aren’t. So go back to the newly formed town and do some Quests like killing 10 goats and so on.
  • Go to the Cave you can kill the Wolves out of Aggro Range. You can hide behind Walls and use EB and Autos to kill the Wolves. The Demon is a bit trickier. Hell port to u so just Firwall yourself, when he ports to u use WC and FS out. EB him and now just move till your mana is up again. Repeat. You wont even need potions for that.
  • Go Back and get the horse
  • Do as many Sidequests as possible
  • When you fight those Bandits that get invisible. Go to your camp and pull them to it. Do the Same with bears, since bears wont stop Chasing you. Now you can kill them easily, because they wont attack you when u stand in the camp.
  • Get Blackwall for Stormcoast Sidequests

Stormcoast

  • Do the Bandit Camp
  • Get the Astrariums and Warden Notes
  • Loot the Giant ( You can get the XP for the Giant when u do the Last Hit!!!!)

Val Royeaux

  • Get the Staff Scheme
  • Get the red jenny notes and do the sidequests. Just Firewall yourself Wildfire and WC. Reposition with FS

Redcliffe

  • Kill the Schemes out of Aggro range. The Terrors with the FW/WC Combo.
  • After finishing the Main quest go to the Church. This is the first really hard fight. Just Firewall and run run run EB FW and run^^
  • I highly recommend to do the Mage Quest. I tried Envy but he has 30k HP and one Shots you. I like hard Games but this was just too much(Good thing I had a Savegame right before I went to the Templars). Alexius is a joke compared to envy. Just Kite him and kill the Demons that spawn.

Haven again

  • you can now decide, do more Sidequests or finish the Haven Quest.
  • This is one of the hardest fight in the whole Game imho. The first 2 Catapults are easy
  • 1. Hide behind the Tents, the Templars wont attack you there kill them
  • 2. Just kill them out of Aggro Range.
  • FS to the Church no need to save the people^^
  • FS to the third Catapult and now the sh** begins. There is no place to hide you can just try to kite and hope. The first two waves are easy but then theres this big guy. I think I died like 12 times till I finally made it. I don’t know if it’s a bug, but when u save the while u already charged the Catapult and then reload, the progress wont be saved you have to start from 0.

Skyhold

  • Now you can decide. Get the Knight Enchanter Spec and just play Ezmode or take another spec and continue the Torture^^
  • I recommend Knight Enchanter because I found the way I played this game pretty unfun. In Dragon Age Origins you where able to beat the early Game solo without this cheesy tactics. Knight Enchanter isn’t a complete no brainer solo u cant just go in and kill Everything. You first need better Equip and get used to the new playstyle.
  • If people are interested ill write more(not before end of next week because i wont be able to play till then). When I finished the Game im pretty sure ill go full solo rogue and perhaps one day I can finish the Game as a Reaver :P

Sorry I’m not a native speaker so im pretty sure I did a lot of mistakes

Dont mind asking, its not a in depth guide i know but perhaps u can find some useful tips.

Excellent solo NM guide there. Really wish I read it before I started. I'd like to add a few other things that may help a fellow frustrated masochistic player out.

RIFTS

Outdoor rifts can be done but the AI needs to be exploited. You have to find a location where the mobs wont attack you properly.

- Mario jump onto rock surfaces or terrain that enemy cant get onto.

- Stay at the very edge of the rift area (right on the green smokey boundary)

- Remember if you are a mage the last attack of your auto-attack ignores line of sight and is homing. So you dont have to see the target to deal damage to it. Force barrage also doesn't need LoS.

- Most rifts have a "safe" spot where you can stand and spam auto-attacks/force barrage

ENVY

I am also soloing the game with a mage on NM. However, I found the church fight at Redcliff (mage quest line) quite hard. Instead I went with the templars.

All of Envy's attacks can be dodged with near 100% reliability. Below is what I did

Teleport Dive

where envy goes under the ground and then jumps out at your location.

Your character will be affected by a greenish mist before envy attacks. Frost step out of it or barrier; rogues can leap (warriors are stuffed)

If you used barrier your must run away ASAP as he will use the slow and paralyse attack on you.

Slow and Paralyse

Envy does 3 pulses of aoe around him that slow you for the first 2 ticks, but do damage and paralyse you for the 3rd tick.

Just dont stay near him for it to paralyse you.

Teleport and Ranged Green Goo

Envy teleports to behind a pillar to do a high damage semi-tracking ranged attack.

This can be dodged if you are running perpendicular to envy at mid - long range.

Just hide behind a pillar when he does this

DONT GET HIT! this can kill you outright

HAVEN

For the last catapult hold you can exploit the AI by jumping on top of unreachable terrain. Run up the side of the mountain and jump on to cliff rocks to the left (herbalist side). There are several rocks you can hide behind to spam force barrage.

The Save Point at Rifts doesnt work vs Terrors, theyll just port to you.

Wow nice thx for the Envy guide, ill use it on my next run! And i reloaded my Savegame for the Haven thing, wow just wow, its so much easier^^

Ill continue my Guide pretty soon didnt had much time to finish the Game.

Assume you are ranged, for the catapult fight when the big guy comes kite him to where Varic is in heaven there is a ladder going up to structure you use to rescue some fool in the burning building before the fight so get up there and LOS the big guy and pew pew.
