When looting one find a lot of valuables (figures, gems++). Do you need to save them for making stuff or is it just sell all?
What are valuables used for?

Most of them are sold for money, other's are Creature Research items. Beyond that There isn't another purpose as far as I know. Other than you can move anything to Valuables to sell the whole list to make it faster.

They're pretty much creature research items + DA:I's version of DA2's junk but worth more.

Your best bet is to go to the Tranquil in either Haven or Skyhold and use the table to 'turn in' that stuff before you sell.
