Who else would rather boot up their old copy of Origins at this point?

:( I'm really disappointed with the combat getting shafted in Inquisition. Everything else in the game may be perfect, but that was the ONE aspect that I enjoyed the most and they ruined it.

Seriously at this point I just feel like buying a pack of cigars and sitting down to a fresh playthrough of something I never tried like a Dalish warrior and picking a male character this time so I can actually romance Morrigan.

Is the combat really that bad? I have no problem with it, really, since you can bind keys to your liking and it has a tactical screen and pause to use. What is the main gripe with the combat, I am genuinely curious about this.

Not I.  I am enjoying the new game, new story, combat (which surprised me since my favorite class was healer mage) and all.  If it's not your cup of tea, I can understand, but frankly, I pulled Origins and DA2 from my PC and plan on playing Inquisition every bit as much as I did those games.

You don't say what part of combat eludes you?  If you posted what was bothering you, maybe some folks could offer up some suggestions to improve your experience.  I hate the idea that anyone bought something and then didn't enjoy it.

I expected it to be harder than other games, but it's actually a lot easier for me than the combat in Origins and DA2.

Just quit the game in frustration again at how bad the combat system is, it's so boring running around killing rams in Hinterlands because your character is too weak to fight anything without Cassandra running over to bail him out.

Don't get me wrong, dieing over and over isn't a problem if learning and getting a better

Combat was the weakest point in Origin, IMO, I can't play it again because of this.

Once you grow accustomed to the clunky camera controls in the tac-cam, the rest of the game is basically the standard MMO setup.    You just have to stop thinking of the combat as a Dragon Age game.     Unfortunately, the pause and play aspect of Dragon Age is mostly gone now.

While the first two games I played like a turn based tactical game (something I love), this game has to be mostly played like Witcher 2 (which I also love).

I may mourn the loss of my turn-based tactical feeling, but that doesn't make DA:I a poor game.   Just different.

I will still go back and play Origins and DA2 again about once every year just as I have always done, but I have a few hundred more hours of this one yet to enjoy first.

I perfer Inquisition myself, I found Origins to be dry and boring.  The tactics system never fully worked for me and the tactical camera worked better with a keyboard and mouse, but I have grown accustomed to how it works in Inquisition.

The limit of 8 abilities.

I'm literally going to be tempted to use the pause screen to switch out abilities for others during battle because I hate it so much.

At first I was satisfied, but a little worried that I didn't see a way to bring up your abilities in the radial menu. Was afraid that we were going to be limited to the quick cast buttons. Came on here and confirmed that it was exactly as I was afraid of.

Say what you will about it but I will always miss being able to cast as much magic, thrash my enemies around and support my party as much as I wanted.

Not me, to much fun playing this DA:I. The combat is amazing, alot better then the snoozefest that was DA:O.  I love tactics, but when I want to play RTS, I will play a RTS.

I have to agree with FumikoM, combat and graphics were the worst part of DA:O. If the story for DA:O was not amazing and did not have a cast of wonderful characters, I would have quit during the prologue of the game.

That's not combat. It's running up to the enemy and pressing buttons mindlessly. I thrive on the RTS experience on Nightmare difficulty and I'm not the only one.

I have no idea what you wouldn't like about the combat.  The game is great.  The only problem is the numerous bugs.  Hopefully, BW is working on the patches.  I still remember how buggy DA:O was at launch..

Mindlessly? I would hardly call the combat mindless, as it does have a lot of depth. You can do combos with different abilities, just like in the previous games. And in higher difficulty you need to plan what attacks you use and so on and so forth.

Are you calling it mindless because of the emphasis on real time attacks instead of queued ones?

I also liked the combat in DAO, but it's the one aspect of the game you enjoyed most - really? Not the story or the characters, not the themes or that feeling of being part of a small band of adventurers in a grand, epic plot?

And it makes me wonder why you'd even buy DAI if the thing you like most about the original game is a technical aspect - it's like buying a sequel because you liked the graphics and art style of the original. You can tell it's probably gonna be similar, but they won't just give you the exact same thing over and over again, and that's good, because you already can have the exact same thing over and over again just by playing the original.

Also, I don't think you even can switch out abilities during combat. Think of it like readying spells before combat - there's strategy to it.

Plus, there's a lot of build discussion in the Classes & Builds forum, so there's gotta be something to it all.

Want a buggy game? Look at Assassin's Creed Unity. I heard that the latest patch fixes over 300 bugs...

I always pause at the start of a battle to barrier up and then assign some commands. So I dont know what you mean. Bit tough in MP without pausing

Eww, no! Having to trudge through that bland world, the dreaded Circle Tower and Fade portion, and the Deep Roads is much too painful for me to play through anymore. I replayed Origins once before DAI and that was enough to last me a lifetime.

Exactly. I played through Origins once. DA2; 3 times with a different class. Doing the same with DA:I.

I will still play DAO, of course, but DAI is the best game in the series so far.

It is too bad that PC players experience problems, but it plays quite smoothly both in and out of combat in Xbox One.

The same one as me, Dragon Age: Origins combat was some of the most boring and stilted I have ever encountered. There are MMO's that have smoother combat that that game did.

Coz playing in slow motion against an 4-5 OP Revenants for armour I can't wear yet sounds exciting after killing 10 dragons and 12 giants right?
