All my original data is still on my hard drive, but ME2 says it can't find any data to import. Could this be because I've changed my gamertag since then? A friend suggested that I load up ME1 and play through the end of the game again to see if it drops a new hidden file, but I don't own ME1 anymore.
Any solutions?
ME2 can't find my ME1 saves.

I KNOW WTF?!?!?!?! I thought it was cause my profile was on my MU and the saves on the HD. But then I moved over my profile and still nothing!

this is what happens when EA publishes a console game. they only did the PC version of ME1 not the 360. EA ruins games, they did it to C&C and now a whole bunch of people are going to be PISSED that they cant use their old save data....

I hate to say it, but at least I'm not the only one. This is very very disappointing that we can't Import data.

Mine all show up, but for some reason only the top one is highlighted green and able to import even though I have about 4 complete game files.

Someone on the gamefaqs.com forums suggested reloading your prior play-through and redoing last boss/stage or whatever. Gonna try this and see if it works.

Are all your saves beating the game without another play through?

One of them must be. The one I'd like to use is my level 58. but you have to figure that one of those clear files is from the first time I did it. The others would be from after I re-loaded for a second run.

ya that would be great if i still had mass effect 1 lol.

what the hell. this is ridiculous! does any of this import stuff work? the whole reason i dropped 60 dollars on this game was to use my old character. now the game cant even find it? like a lot of you i dont have access to a ME1 game. they better fix this and fast.

it says you need to use the same profile you used to play mass effect 1. so maybe its something like if you never had live and played ME1, had a bunch of different characters, beat the game with said characters, THEN got live, the game wont be able to read your data. possible? yes. Asinine. you bet.

So what i've figure out is this. It only take a completed play through file. That mean you have to have beaten the game and not started a new play through. I restarted my level 60 character for ****s and giggles and now I'm sitting on Eden Prime with my thumb up my ass. Them seem to be the rules. you gotta finish what you start.

****ing ridiculous.

so does that mean you basically have to REPLAY all of mass effect 1. do ALL the side missions, and make the decisions AGAIN even if its a save game +???

Do they forget that xbox is notorious for the red ring of death. Im on my 3rd xbox since ive beaten the game, so who should i be more mad at ea/bioware or microsoft. Either way this better be fixed soon otherwise im finished with all games ea/bioware related.

It erases all the stuff from your first play through wen you restart. think about it.
Why bother saving all the data when it's not used in game?

But my issue is that I just reloaded my newgame+, beat the boss(thereby completing the game) and it still says that it is not a valid import file. I haven't re-re-started so that shouldn't matter.

it has to be EA's fault. every time they get their hands on a game they screw it up. look at command and conquer, Spore, Battlefield, Burnout. with the exception of spore all were good games then EA wrecked them. thanks for a huge let down EA, and im sure bioware has a has a hand in this at least. you people better be monitoring this, because a lot of your loyal customers are PISSED. Fix this. Now.
