that is what happened to me, it made me retrieve my original xbox live account which is linked to the EA email and account. Only problem is a played through ME1 before i had 360 live, so that profile is offline only.

I have a 52 char. in limbo because I thought "Do I have to finish an entire play through to import" and "I was good the first time, if I wanna be bad the second time around, which will it use?" So those questions went for naught when I traded my game in for the decision of "I'll just import whatever I can." And apparently EA laughs at me in confidence because they knew all along what I was thinking.

And another thing. This whole thing of "Go to our website to redeem" is bologna. Put it on xbox live, and be done with it. They are trying to make it so secure so that "Only select individuals may have this item" that the people who actually get it properly can't use it. That's degredation to a fan base if I've ever seen it.

I had thought somewhere one of the Devs said that for the save game import to work it had to have been completed on the current hard drive and console (not sure about console) that it was originally on. So if you had a 360, finished ME1 and then later that hard drive or console dies (but you manage to save the save game on a MU and restore your saves to the hard drive) it wouldn't work.



I also remember them saying that if your character shows up when you try to do a New Game+ in ME1 then it should show up for import into ME2.



I know that doesn't help anyone who doesn't still have ME1...

I had this problem. Then I loaded the autosave on my ME1 character, killed Sarin, watched the ending, and now I can import the character in ME2

Note - I played ME1 on my original xbox that died.

thank you cptn obvious... unfortunatley we dont all have ME1 anymore... and i for one am not about to shell out another 20 bucks for a game i beat 5 times... its not like i saved over the end save... this is BS imo

if they dont fix this by tom. im taking it back. i fn went at midnight to get this shiz. they should make mass effect 1 free to download on games on demand, cuz i dont own it anymore.

i will confirm that it does work to reload me1 and finish the final boss, then it picks up your me1 import. i was getting no files prior to going back and making final decisions again.

ok so for pc guys..i had a **** tastic time tryin to get my saved games to load but this whole time ive been going through the wrong folder on the configuration..i just typed in my characters name on my search to look through my computer and found my saved game and just opened the containing folder and found it like that and matched that folder to the configuration utility and my saves showed up..hope this helps

it didnt show up in the configuration utility but once i set the "copy me1 saved games" thing to that folder containing my saved game it showed up in the actual game..again hope this helps

It appears that the only save that counts for transfer to ME2 is the auto-save that occurs after you defeat Saren. It would have been decent of EA/Bioware to announce this before ME2 released. Those of us that loaded previous saves to play Pinnacle Station and Bringing Down the Sky are stuck. Now I have to get my hands on a copy of ME to load my save before the Saren fight and beat him yet again.

Obviously Bioware/EA have some kinks to iron out. This is the first time something like this has been tried so it may not go well (it isn't). I'm currently downloading ME1 on my 360 so I can kill siren and the council so I can effing play already. Maybe I'll make him shoot himself.

aww man... this is just getting worse and worse... seems that without the old save, the path they set you on is compiled of the worst decision of every choice mission from the first game.... i really wish they would have said "Dont play a second playthrough. because doing so will screw you over royaly"

This happened to me too! I go to school away from home, and played/left ME1/Xbox back home. I put my profile on a memory card for the Xbox up here at school like they told me to, but it wont load . It really sucks because I went to the midnight release, hoping to play with my old Shepherds.



One thing that I will most likely do tomorrow is go to Blockbuster, rent ME1, and play the last save through on this Xbox and return the game.



The Dev's could probably fix this very easily and quickly. I'm hoping that they do ASAP before I go spend some money renting the game.

I am also have this problem. I made a character that I played through once with and then I went back and started a playthrough with the same guy but I am just at the part where I find Liara/go to Feros so I have a decent amount of game to play through before reaching the end. I guess I will just suck it up and play through with a brand new character.
