This is one of my favorite aspects of this game, the fact that the protagonist might be some kind of a new messiah. It's something that was never explored in any other game.

So what was your Inquisitor response when someone asked if he was really sent by Andraste/Maker?

My Inquisitor was always "I have no idea".

It's contextual, for me. It depends on who he's talking to, whether or not he trusts them, and what's happening in the world. Typically, my inquisitors opinion is that yeah, there's a very good change he is sent by the maker, but he's not exactly sold on it, and that's another depth to my inquisitor's story - its almost an identity crisis.

If he's speaking to someone he wants to impress, then he'll tell them he is.

If it's someone he feels he can trust, he may tell them either yes, or unsure.

If bad things happen, he begins to have his reservations about the whole thing.

Initially, my responses were along the lines of "I didn't choose this", "I have no idea", "I'm no one special", etc.

But after I played a while and worked through some of the dialog, I got the sense that the people of Thedas *needed* to believe I was Andraste's chosen to give them hope.  That if I were going to lead people, and if it gives them confort to think my character is special, why not give them that?

So I began answering "yes".  Staying away from the cocky, powerhungry version of "yes", if that makes any sense.

My first Inquisitor was a male human, and I always chose the 'I don't know option'. My second inquisitor is a Dalish elf mage, and I always choose 'I believe in the elven gods' option.

I said I had no idea but told Cory at the end that the Maker had sent me.

I was hoping to annoy him

Not only that, but he believes himself to be the Maker's finest creation. Yes, he's quite the narcissist.

I was sent by the scar faced woman with the child bearing hips. You know, the one that's gonna kick your butt if you keep asking inane questions. She doesn't like inane questions.

First play through i picked all the "believe" options, hated it though since once i picked them it normally resulted in a /facepalm moment, i will probably do it again though as i will no doubt RP another character that is a believer, so i guess thats the answer, it all depends on how i RP the pc

I used the Qunari version of this on my Qunari mage. ;)

Otherwise, I used the option that let her say that she wasn't. She doesn't believe in the Chantry's Maker or the Qun.

I have been playing an elven character, so they are vehemently against the whole "chosen one" scenario.  Plus, I rather liked having the ability to choose that route because a majority of the RPG's out there force that particular aspect of the character on you with no choice.  You ARE the chosen one, accept it, now go do chosen one things and save the world!  I like how BioWare has left that whole thought process up to your play style and how you want things to progress.

At first she denied it but later she decided that its better for the people to have something to cling to so she just says she doesn't know and lets them speculate.

He just stays neutral in this, he doesn't believe in the maker but he conforms to peoples conversations about it so he doesn't ****** anyone off.
