ME2: How do i fix mouse acceleration? [Temp Fix!]

I have now purchased the second upgrade to extend time for bypass. This is mixed success, as I can now do the dots in 2 tries but the other one takes more.
Also in a lot of situations the game tells me I have three goes but I only get ONE (1) and thats it.
Can only hope that upgrades and items other than credit are not here, but I know that I have missed a dozen of these mini games on my way to get the last recruit, but I will be playing again and I am determined to get to the end.
wish it was easy to alter the amount in seconds in the game file as for me this would make My game much more enjoyable.

It's sad that they put so little time into the PC version. Mass Effect 1 on the PC was actually a pretty good port and I was hoping they would put at least the same amount of effort into the second. I hope they patch up all of these problems soon.

Ok, I did put the altered file (5 up from this post) inmy me2 and whils it did better mouse control in the mini game I think it also affect mouse control in the main game and affected the quality of the graphics negatively. So I replaced the altered file with the original one and that fixed the latter problem.
If you are talking about the mouse fix file I linked, the graphics are exactly the same, the file makes absolutely no changes whatsoever to anything like that - the only changes are to the 4 mouse settings which have been listed in this thread a few times now. In fact your video and graphical settings are saved and stored in an entirely separate file, the GamerSettings.ini located in Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Config
By the way if it wasn't made clear with all the posts here the changes were designed to affect or fix the mouse control in the "main game". That's the whole point of it, getting rid of the dampening / negative acceleration / deceleration / whatever you call it, along with smoothing to make the mouse input normal when controlling the camera and aiming with weapons like most PC games which don't have crap like that enabled by default.
If you like the way everything feels by default or didn't bother tweaking the sensitivity to your liking I can't help ya, and the fix probably isn't for you. Sorry!

Not played this much but did really enjoy ME1 and GOT USED to the game controls, even the mako and I became one.
I don't understand why they would make all the controls different for a game's sequel, it makes no sens but I guess it has become a trademark, NWN1 to 2. I shudder to think what is going to change for Dragon Age. rant vent puff puff.
What about another puzzle upgrade? to buy or make the first stronger!

I understand your file shouldn't affect the graphics but it did on my PC as well.
1. starting the game the 2 laptops did not show up, jsut the writing on the left one (Resume, etc) and the text on the Cerberus one.
2. Every thing in game was a little dark and a little too red
3. Cut scenes were quite jittery and jumpy. Game play was alright though.
I did a manual edit on my ini file and all was good. There might some machine specific info kept in that file liek Intel/AMD CPU or nvidia/AMD graphics.
Anyway, nice work on the fix. I can actually play this like a shooter now

It should be a brand new ini, same as what you would get if you were to delete it from your directory, verify files through steam and get a brand new one directly from the servers, which would be the same as copying it fresh off the disc itself. I don't think those would be different based on your system but what do I know.

.ini versions are different depending on the game version and end user system setup.
This is true for pretty much every game, and the reason you see 'tweak guides' instead of 'pre-tweaked .ini' downloads. Oblivion is a good example of a game where you cannot use other people's .ini files (unless you want horrific errors to appear).

But this discussion also gives me an idea. Although there are more pressing issues like implementing a setting Delete feature to go with the new adds and bug hunting on existing features. I could implement a smple settings export / import. Basically you could tweak the settings but instead of providing the entire file, where you didn't touch 99.9% of the stuff in there and in which case may have dramatically bad results for someone else using it, you could instead export only the settings you've tweaked to a special file and then someone looking for those tweaks could use the editor to import those. This would very effectively isolate the tweaked settings and eliminate all the nasty side effects of using someone elses enire file. I will add this thought to my list.

BTW, has anyone checked out Bioshock 2 yet? They did the SAME THING AGAIN with mouse acceleration and FOV that they did with the first Bioshock. I really, really, really, really don't understand why developers are constantly screwing this up for PC ports. Can anyone explain this to me?

Developers are crazy.
Yeah, it really amazes me that they could screw up again when they got so much negative feedback from the first.

The cash registers kept ringing. In that situation they, the CFO's and other bean counters will simply think "meh... looks like a majority are happy-enough with it. ... mo'money. next project please..."

I hope Bioware are working on a mouse and FOV fix. I have shelved the game until something comes out.
I didn't buy Bioshock 2 at launch as I thought they might repeat the same mistakes, they won't get any money from me!

Hold down the space bar to engage Storm (running) until you reach some form of cover or run out of stamina. The action key system in the game, most especially this particular one, is a chain of logic that does different things based on the environment and what you're near. So in this case, the space is used to run and take cover and jump over the cover (when possible) and to exit cover... it's gimmicky and annoying at first but you'll just get used to it after awhile.

And yes, I am also appalled at the lack of configuration options in this game. Seems Bioware have really gone the half-arsed console port this time around. Which is pathetic considering how much effort went into the story and such. I never thought I'd see the day I considered boycotting Bioware until they lift their game...
Hey I played a game that allowed me to adjust my mouse sensitivity once, it was called Doom, that was 17 years ago.

I have not seen anything that would suggest that Bioware is aware of problem and working on a fix. It would be nice to see a heading or some other announcement. Non-comp whiz types like me are not really in a position to start mucking around with .ini stuff. Nor should we be expected to. Very disappointing to say the least.....
That is disappointing. I filled in a support ticket with Bioware/EA to look at the mouse issue (damping/acceleration) and also the FOV issue. I haven't heard anything back yet.

- If you feel like your mouse is lagging with VSync enabled, try lowering the maximum number of pre-rendered frames in your video card's driver setting. It will lower your performance, but since Unreal Engine is now a pretty well optimized beast, I don't suppose it will be much of a problem for most of you.
- Anyone with Logitech G series mouse should try going to SetPoint options and disabling an optioned called 'Use OS native drivers for pointer speed and acceleration' or something like that, it can make a huge difference,

A - Logitech G7 Laser Gaming Mouse [Permanent Fix]
I got this mouse while playing ME1 and DA:O and was satisfied as far as mice go. Then ME2 came out and my G7 showed it's full colours. It has up to 5 user controlled speed settings that are accessed by 2 buttons on the mouse. While scanning planets I punch it up to it's highest setting for very quick planet rotation, and then drop speed down for combat and movement. Adjust again when I return to Windows.
The beauty of this mouse is, it's an ergonomic hardware adjustment unaffected by any software(game) settings.

My Logitech has DPI adjustments on the fly but none of those settings gets rid of the smoothing and dampening that's enabled by default in the game. All changing the sensititivy and DPI via your mouse will do is make that stuff less or more noticeable depending on how low or high you go with it. You can't get rid of that dampening crap entirely until you actually disable it through the ini.
Be glad you don't notice it even with your fancy mouse, because if you did it would have driven you crazy like the rest of us. Btw, you can also adjust the scanning cursor speed and rotation with ini tweaks as well so you never have to bother with flipping through settings on your mouse to make it bearable.

I know you spend millions of dollars making a graphically rich and compelling game with the newest technology.
Can you spend 5 minutes to fix the mouse sensitivity in your games.
Thank you,
PC Gamers.

BUT, the FOV is really killing me. It's so narrow it almost makes me dizzy sometimes.
