I noticed some weird smoothing of the mouse when I started, but I ended up not really noticing it after playing for an hour. If anything, I think the smoothing and acceleration will be affected by your system performance. That said, you may want to consider adjusting some of the graphics settings and see if that changes anything for you. I've changed a few settings and even though the overall performance of the game was smooth, the mouse performance varied on how high I had my settings. Could just be me.

I heard back from EA support, there will be no mouse fix in the next patch and no mention of FOV changes either.

Hi Tristan,

Thank you for getting back to us.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

We would like to inform you that and the mouse control is not related with the patch. If you got mouse problem then try it in another system and if it is not working properly then you have to change it. I would suggest you to please use normal optical mouse which is common. Thanks...

If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.

Thank you,

Ricky

Thanks for the update Ricky.
Can you confirm if the mouse controls and the field of view will be fixed in the upcoming patch?

Thanks,
Tristan.

Pretty awesome that they're completely ignoring this even after making it a sticky and an official topic in the forums.

Way to go BioWare.

Well the Steam version got patched but nothing about the mouse issues or a FOV fix.

Even worse, I had no issues before and the patch decided to up the acceleration to obscene levels. Uninstalling/reinstalling later.

Great, that accomplished nothing as whatever the patch did must have affected the save files as well or something.  Spinning like crazy by barely using the mouse.  Guess I'll have to try the solutions in this thread.

The patch rewrote your .ini file, you just need to go in and change the values again.

This mouse bullsh*t is really killing my gameplay experience to the point that I simply have no interest in suffering through it until it is fixed. I don't like the idea of modifying the .ini file only to have one of the values I must delete from to maintain a proper character count cause other adverse effects somewhere down the road.

This is absolutely rediculous they didn't catch this before shipping. They must still use ball mice on their test systems or something. I paid $60 freakin bucks for this and can't even play it yet. Sure, I could suffer through it but why... fix it so I can play without being constantly annoyed.

Yeah I haven't played in a couple of weeks. I couldn't stand the mouse and FOV so went and played Crysis. Awesome game BTW. I only got about 4 hours in to ME2 before I chucked in the towel.

I really don't understand how they managed to refine the game perfectly to make it run smoother than ME1 (on my computer, anyway) but they failed to overcome very basic things like mouse acceleration, command console or low FOV. Unimpressive.

What's next? Will ME3 be a 360 exclusive?

You can also lower mouse lag my lowering the number of pre-rendered frames.

Where did you go?  I went to Logitech and all they wanted was $30 for some robotech to download and keep ALL my drivers up to date!   I may have gotten into a hacked site and that is why I'm asking since it doesn't sound like Logitech to me at all.

Indeed it is, since in ME1 you had the option to change sensitivity ... and I bet that they used gamepad+consoles as their test systems, since PC version is sooooo lacking the options, typical console porting. <_<

Well I've no interest in even buying ME2 until basic features like this are patched in.

Don't any of you guys at Bioware even play computer games? Because if you did features like mouse sensitivity and keyboard mapping would be set in place at the VERY beginning for the game to be built around, not slapped on at the end - if at all.

Us PC gamers made your company what it is today, so try showing us the same respect in return please.

Thanks for this.  I was able to download and install the little program they have for the logitech wireless mouse and it has made a great deal of difference in my ability to control a number of aspects of my mouse..
Now.  If only I could find a fix for a bigger problem that I have.  Nausea and headaches that start before I have even completed the 'training' module.  In fact they are so bad that I cannot finish this.  I have written to the support group and followed up 3 times but they have not responded as yet.  Is there anything that could be adjusted or fixed that would minimize this problem?
Just for the record, this is the very first time I have ever had a problem of this kind with any game that I have ever played!  I'm 67 and have been playing games for a long time.Posted Image
Thanks

ah the dreaded head bob motion sickness. sorry to say i don't think there is a fix for that. i had the same problem with shadow of chernobyl after a few mins of playing i was about to throw up. only thing i can think of that may help is try not to stare at the background when your moving fix your eyes on either the cross hairs or shepard. and take a 5 min break after say 15 mins of playing.

There are so many "sloppy port" problems I hope they get fixed in the next patch.

I use a Logitech G9 mouse so I can adjust the sensitivity on the fly. This is especially useful when scanning planets (which is epically tedious BTW), I just increase the DPI to max to make scanning quicker and lower it again for combat etc.

But the following still needs fixing, hacking or modding:

1. Use mouse scroll wheel for codex/menus

2. Holding F while on a planet really does exit to the Normandy instead of "do nothing" as it currently does (unless you use melee instead).

3. Walk can be a toggle button

4. Squad command interface can be a toggle button

5. Key bound to Screen-Shot

6. Allow enabling of the command console

7. Add Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering to the display settings

8. Make Vsync an On/Off option in the display settings

9. Vault over obstacles (i.e jump) without first drawing a weapon

10. Make intro movies skippable

11. Make non-interactive cut scenes skippable like the FMV sequences

12. Skip lines of dialogue you've heard before

Perhaps only then will we have a "PC" game and not some sloppy second-rate console port.

Thanks for the advice and reply.  I wish it were that simple for me.  A five minute break won't work.  After playing for a very short while is when the problems start and I must get out of the game completely.  Then it is waiting for hours for the nausea and the really bad headache to go away.
When I say that I'm disappointed that is an understatement.  Not because of my bodies reaction but because it is one of the best games for graphics and detail that I have ever tried to play.  The code for this game must be enormous so bugs will be there but still......

Numbnumb27, you could try the FOV fixes that are floating around. You need to edit the ini file and the fix isn't that good but it may be causing you to feel sick. A narrow field of view can do this to many people.

Thank you for the reply.  I'm not good on finding things in forums so a favor.   Do you know any places I could go to read up on this?  Oh!  Also.  I'm running XP not 7.
I did find a way to slow my mouse down some and that seemed to help a little but it is still a serious problem for me.
Thanks again for the response.

This seems to be the best write up but you will need to know how to edit the coalesced.ini file which itself is non trivial.
Here is a coalesced.ini editor though that might make the job easier. I haven't tested it so use at your own risk.
