So, you know how on xbox one games never stop playing unless you go to the main menu? Like, I shut down the console while standing in the hinterlands, when I turn it back on ill be right where I was standing.
This system has contributed to my game being unplayable.
I went to the character record screen, and it has frozen there with cassandra on the right and nothing else there. Nothing works, no buttons, nothing. Since its xbox one, removing the disc or shutting down or anything does not work. I dont think anyone else has encountered this bug. Anyone have any ideas? Sorry for posting this in technically the wrong forum.

Go to your load screen and there should be two auto saves available if you've recently finished a mission one from when you shut down the console and one from the mission. I noticed my PS4 was doing this at one point.
You shoudln't turn off new gen consoles while the game is running it creates problems for the console and the saves on it including data loss. If I do this on PS4 the game struggles to load the environment and my character (power outage).

Xbox one dont care if the power goes off
, game still "runs" like I said, I go to the same screen if I restart the console
Press and hold the power button on the console for a couple seconds, or just unplug it and give it 30 seconds. Also u can first try pressing the big glowing middle button on ur controller to zoom out into the Xbox menu, then press the menu button and quit game.

That sounds like a terrible feature.
Its not terrible. The idea is that u can just pick up and play where u left off. No intro screen and what not. And it works for the most part.
Though if i don't plan on picking up the game for a bit ill quit the game from the menu. Which stops the game.

But if there's a game-stopping bug that prevents you from closing the game properly, then you're stuck forever. Its not terrible. The idea is that u can just pick up and play where u left off. Don't have a console but I know when my BD player gets stuck I unplug it and count to 30, then plug it back in.

Can you not go to the dashboard, press the start button when hovered over inquisition and then select quit?
if you can't do that set the Xbox One so that it *actually* turns off instead of being in standby mode 24/7 (forget what the option is called, but i've always used it)

U can close the game though. U just have to know how. And if u want ur system to turn off off, u just press and hold the power button on the console for a couple seconds. And every thing stops and is off till u turn it on again.

Press and hold your power button for about 3 seconds. It will do a hard shut down and turn everything off.

This has happened to me but on the x360 version. I was fighting a rift with those ghosts that shoot out white lasers and died, went to reload and it just froze on a black screen with just the loading icon on the bottom right...no sound, nothing after 2 minutes.
Turned off the console, rebooted and treid to load the autosave....nothing just black again. So I decided to go back to the 2nd autosave which is like 10 mins before the fight and again if I die it will freeze.
What gives.
