I couldn't bear to leave Hawke behind in the fade. Besides, I didn't want Fenris coming after me with murder on his mind (wait, he's always like that

Corypheus invoked the "His Eyes Open" exemption, getting around the rule. Though I do wish they kept the same voice actor. The strange foreign accent added a level of menace I'm just not getting in the new guy.
It is the same voice actor. There's just a difference because he's no longer confused and disoriented after waking up.

Hawke should die because you need the wardens for the blight AND killing the archdemon.

So the first time I played, I left my mage Hawke in the fade as it seemed more important to let Stroud rebuild the wardens, on this play through I didn't really pay much attention to the cinematic background as I watched my human warrior inquisitor run for the rift.
HOWEVER on my second play through I let Alistair stay behind (changed my DA keep to something not of my head canon to switch things up) and you can very clearly see him in that same cinematic go down (in the background) , he bashes the demon a few times and then gets mullered and you see him go down, bam, dead.
Because I didn't remember seeing Hawke do the same thing either I wasn't paying enough attention or maybe Hawke manages it where Alistair failed ![]()

Unless we get a DLC where we go back to get them out, I would imagine anyone stuck in the Fade dies of dehydration within a couple of days. This assumes, of course, that they managed to defeat the house sized spider demon and evade all the other demons in that neighborhood.

Whoa how did you get Alistair instead of the other warden? Is that if Anora is queen and you spare Alistair in DAO?

There's still plenty of wardens around. Where are Nathaniel and Oghren? The wardens in the Anderfels and other countries? We've only seen the Orlesian wardens fall to Corypheus in dai. I think they added the "the order will likely die" line to make the choice harder.
@juliet - Yep. You have to kill Loghain too for Alistair to remain a warden.

Only if they make something good and interesting out of it, not just "Oh well Hawke is alive afterall". That would jsut cheapen the decision you made...

Some guy named Nyeredzi prophesied this, a long time ago. He, also said that 'Hawke would stay in the fade as if he belonged there, for now'

Thanks for the info Naddaya. Will be changing some stuff in my DA keep! ![]()

I doubt they can eat Fade mushrooms and there'll be many spirits\demons interested.

I don't get why some people acting like that warden is the last warden in Thedas. Saving your favorite is understandable and completely legitimate reason, but don't play the importance card.
I wonder if they sooner die or go insane. Someone said that staying in the Fade is a "fate, worse than death."

Be nice to see whoever was left in the fade become a guide for future player characters that enter the fade, not sure how that would work. Tis a nice thought.

And that the Fade operates on the same sorts of physical principles... which it doesn't. It already has water of some sort, and spirits can apparently conjur whatever, so it would be relatively trivial for Bioware to justify it.

Yeah, I recruited an entire legion of Grey Wardens, and all it took was having a single Warden take one for the team.

I'm fairly sure we'll see Hawke again at some point. If you don't leave Hawke in the Fade, (s)he just ends up going MIA at Weisshaupt once it goes silent post-game events. Two fates for the Champion, both scenarios implying the possibility of Hawke's death yet neither producing a body? It just screams "future plot point" to me. The Weisshaupt fate moreso than the Fade fate, but it's awfully convenient that both paths put Hawke in the same missing/presumed dead situation.

Really? Interesting. So maybe the thought that (Mage) Hawke might have actual chances of coming out of this alive wasn't that far fetched.
I'm fairly certain that Hawke began to literally wade through the spider demon, but nothing else before the camera faded to black.

Dang it... just rewatched the cutscene on youtube in 720p and I must say, on the very last second, before fading out, it actually seems like even Hawke is mortally wounded by one of the demon's spider claws/legs...

This. When I did it with Stroud, he appeared to die in the background.
I'm sure you can still argue that no body = no confirmation but I expect Bioware will operate under the assumption that whoever was left behind died right then and there fighting the spider if it comes up in the future.

I would prefer if Hawke stays dead. You can already save him/her so there would be no point. I don't think "no body = no death rule" counts here, because whoever gets left behind pretty much becomes the body. Since right before Inquisitor exits the Fade we see Hawke falling on ground which pretty much confirms the death.
Champion or not there's no way in hell he/she could kill that spider all alone.

You know, maybe I'm still spoiled by the ME2 ending where it actually mattered whether I made smart or stupid decisions, not just decisions (though one can argue whether most of our decisions *really* mattered at all). Ah, well... Will have to get used to the fact that with every new Bioware game, several good things from previous games are simply lost for good...

I can't remember the kid's name, but he left for Tevinter in my playthrough, and was able to walk through the Fade. Seeing as Hawke helped him, maybe he could help Hawke? Or Loghain, for me anyway.

I did think that was unusual, that they would "likely" die. I wonder if they'll bring that person back later anyways? Of course there was no way I was going to leave Hawke so goodbye Stroud, I knew you...hardly at all.
To me, it indicates a fate worse than death. So they'll probably come back as a terrible super-powerful abomination later. (Unless they find an Eluvian to walk out of...)
But this never happens to my Hawke ever.
