Considering **** is going down at Weisshaupt and whomever ends up going there (Hawke or Warden) you lose contact with them... I'm starting to wonder if it's better to leave Hawke in the Fade?

Did you see the body?  Then he isn't dead.  Video game rule #1

We also have undead in the game. So even seeing a dead body doesn't mean they're finished.

Wait... what? D:

*fear grips heart* Is this stuff that is referred to in banters that aren't triggering?

I did get an epilogue slide showing that there might be a split between southern Wardens (Orlais and Ferelden) and northern Wardens.

If so, someone better get a hold of the Hero of Ferelden.

Dang it... just rewatched the cutscene on youtube in 720p and I must say, on the very last second, before fading out, it actually seems like even Hawke is mortally wounded by one of the demon's spider claws/legs...

I just watched it again, and I'm not seeing this? There is a burst of blood near Hawke, but it looks to me like it's from whatever (s)he just cut off of the spider. I just see Hawke shuffle off to the side and stand there for a second before being obscured by one of the spider's fangs, then it fades to black.

It's not really clear and open for interpretation, I guess. Buton the last second, he seems to be looking into the other direction than before and something is coming down on him, possibly impaling him while he seems to have some sort of animation that more or less matches that notion. Could be wrong though. It really is a single second at best.

I don't get why some people acting like that warden is the last warden in Thedas.

Perhaps not, but it is a Warden that the Inquisitor could have come to trust by that point. Who would you want leading the remaining Grey Wardens in Orlais - some grunt you don't know, or the guy who risked his life to stand against corrupted Wardens, fought beside you against those Wardens, and fought through the Fade with you?

If that damn Warden wouldn't up and leave for Weisshaupt immediately after the battle, it would make sense to have Stroud / Alistair / Loghain elevated to command the Wardens. As one of the nameless Wardens notes, that person is the most senior Warden left in Orlais following Clarel's death.

Wardens goals =/= Inquisition goals. If Corypheus wasn't a Darkspawn, Wardens would ditch you just as they did in DAII. Their goal is singular and is focused solely on the Blight. Idealisation of the order from DA:O experience is admirable, but somewhat misplaced.

Romanced Warden Alistair, and after hearing all his love (STILL) for my Warden, there was no way I could sacrifice him. Just can't. A million cant's. He's still totally obsessed with her, it's adorable and reminds me of the fandom quote "may you find someone who loves you as much as Alistair loves the warden"!

And...sarcastic Hawke who romanced Anders and let him live, so they're on the run together and I just...I'm so emotionally devastated, thanks a lot Bioware.

It doesn't help remembering dialogue from DA2 ("It would kill me to lose you" "You aren't going to lose me") or that Hawke says "Sorry, Anders" before charging at the Nightmare :(

(ugly sobbing)

ETA: It's probably too obscure given all the choices, but I like to pretend no matter the status of Hawke in the Fade, a romanced Anders would try to get her back somehow. Even if it's similar to, well, you know, Justice. Or involves blood magic. He's shown he's got that whole...ehh...do whatever it takes thing about him, surely.

Well, yes... I actually decided to leave my main Hawke mage in the Fade, because I care for the fate of the Wardens (I'm much more attached to my main DA:O-Warden than the other two PCs), and even Hawke himself said that the southern Wardens would need a guy like Loghain (or Alistair/that other guy from DA2) if they were to rebuild successfully.

Then, I also believed that mage Hawke would have much better chances of survival in the given situation than good ol' warrior Loghain, not to mention that the latter would probably never find a way to get out of the Fade, even if he survived that encounter.

Also, the game tells you only "Hawke is likely to die", meaning they leave a door open to bring Hawke/the Warden of your choice back.

Maybe I'm way too optimistic, but I believe this hole thing has "DLC" written allover it.

Is that a likely scenario? What do you think on the issue of Hawke and if you like also the Warden in the Fade?

I will always leave Hawke whatever happens... I hate the character, just simple as that. I hope he/she stays dead once and for all.

I just played this part yesterday so it's fresh in my mind. Solas specifically states that this fear demon feeds off of fear related to the Blight. I imagine that whenever the Warden Civil War happens, whether it's DLC or in the next game, things are going to come to a head and that the giant spider demon will be a boss and whoever you left in the Fade will come back

Through the use of blood magic Merrill knows where Hawke is and that he is in danger. Through even more magic she uses the Eluvian to travel into the fade and bring him to safety before the hell spider can kill him. They then proceed to have lots of sex.

I'm content to think Hawke is nicely dead if left in the Fade.  Call it heroic sacrifice if you like.  I leave him there as an out-of-game act of spite, since I despised DA2.  I will continue to enjoy that until Bioware decides to bring him back (which I have no doubt they will, they seem to like him/her).

At the end of the game during the epilogue slideshow, you learn that regardless of what you did with the Grey Wardens at Adamant there is a civil war going on among the Wardens at Weisshaupt in the Anderfels.
The person you saved in the Fade at Adamant (Hawke or Stroud/Alistair/Loghain) was going to Weisshaupt to deliver news about Adamant, and presumably was staying in touch with the Inquisition. At some point news just stops coming, which implies they got caught up in the conflict somehow.

Left Hawke.

Needed a senior Warden to help the Wardens - and the fact he had a pretty good conscience and moral compass helped.

Also - never really got attached to Hawke as my character, so it was an easy decision.

Also - Hawke is a beast. I mean, cardio alone allowed him to run around the Arishok for hours without breaking a sweat. Sure he can handle some giant slow ass spider no worries...

..and if not - well. Fare the well fine fellow.

Left Stroud, then Loghain and then Hawke.  I just couldn't kill Alistair.  His lady love was out finding a cure for the taint so I had to give her a shot.  Plus on that play through I had to remember that this whole Cory problem was somewhat her fault.  I know she thought she killed him but I left her there to clean up the mess she made.

I left Stroud. That's not even a choice. My protagonist or some stranger who only appeared briefly? Have a good fight, moustache man.

Loghain I'd leave behind even if I didn't have to.

Choosing between Hawke and Alistair is more difficult, and I think Hawke would usually come up short but in my current playthrough I'm preparing to have Alistair kick the bucket. For science.

Alligator begged my warden in da O to let him do the ultimate sacrifice. He's not a happy dude, I let him have his heroes death. It's the way he really wanted it to begin with.

If anyone can escape the Fade, it's Mage Hawke.  It helps if Merril is still alive, friendly or romanced, and still has an intact eluvian.

Of course, that's an extreme subset of possibilities.

I left Hawke, and I honestly think that's the "correct" choice.

I have a pretty crazy theory about why this is so.

See, after I finished the game, and got the endgame cutscene, I got really curious about the time Flemeth appeared in Dragon Age II. So I hunted down a video of her.

The really important part comes at 3:43

"Destiny awaits us both, dear boy. We have much to do. Before I go, a word of advice? We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the Abyss. Watch for that moment, and when it comes... do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."

The name of this whole quest in Inquisition? Here Lies the Abyss. Hmm, I think the writers are trying to tell me something....

So Flemeth is giving Hawke a prophecy not for anything which happens in DAII - she's telling Hawke that when s/he's in the Abyss, s/he should leap and risk falling.

What I would *really* like to do is get a bunch of people together who have played Aggresive Hawke, Diplomatic Hawke, etc, and compare their animations if they are left in the Fade. Because, after all, Flemeth only said "whether" you can fly, and I'd love to see if there's a difference in a Hawke who could survive the Fade versus one who gave into fear and died.

Hawke being abandoned in the Fade only to return as Crazy!Hawke like Robbin Williams (RIP) in Jumanji is too good to pass up.

If you leave Hawke, I imagine one of the spinoff DLCs to be some eerily sinister Kill Bill type plot where Anders/Fenris goes through all the members of the Inquisition starting from the bottom in an attempt to kill the Inquisitor for the death of Hawke. Then once they find the Inquisitor, they're standing there next to Hawke, who's been made Tranquil from their trip to the Fade. Then they'll have to make the decision whether or not to kill Hawke or keep Hawke as a soulless vegetable. It'll be in the format of that Darkspawn DLC that I bought twice and never played through.

There'd even be a scene where Fenris/Anders takes out Iron Bull's other eye.

Ah, yes. Bioware, consider this my resume. I am submitting this to be on the writing team for that DLC.
