The disappearing helmet has bothered me since DAO.
I am disappointed that BioWare did it again.
Eh? I want the headgear off during cutscenes.

Yeah, and as we all know, having a helmet toggle for cutscenes just isnt possible.
Bioware can do now wrong, and the mere concept of them devoting design funding to something the players want is appauling.
We need more money spent on helping random elves find iron in the hinterlands.
So in several gameplay videos and trailers we saw the Inquisitor and party wearing headgear during cutscenes, but in the game this is not the case, whereupon helmets disappear in cutscenes, and there is no option to have it on since it is by default off.
So, what gives? Why did they remove this feature? I found it to be cool to finally have helmet equipped during cutscenes, since I always found it kinda immersion breaking by how the helmet just suddenly disappeared. And it looks stupid especially on Vivienne and how she is bald in every cutscene out of the game during conversations.
Hahaha!
Surprisingly, a lot of people were complaining a few months back that they were so sick of seeing the inquisitor helmet, they want the "remove helmet during cutscene" option implemented before release. Looks like they got what they want..
Its interesting how diverse the gaming population's opinions are these days.. ![]()
I would prefer character-specific toggles. Some headgear is just too iconic to be off in conversations, and some of the more turban-like pieces would reasonably be kept on, while warriors would almost always remove the face-concealing ones.
Having said that, I can live with what we got. As long as we don't have a toggle, always off is way better than always on. Also, I tend to keep the helmets off even in combat unless I have headgear that at least looks somewhat acceptable for every party member. That usually takes half the game.
Edit:
I didn't know the Inquisitor helmet is actually in the game. Which dragon do you have to kill for it? Also, is "the" hat in the game? I don't think I've seen it so far.

I was told the dragon in the Emerald Graves gives you the inquisitor helmet (or the schematics). I have gotten it myself though, so im not 100% sure.

Like I said, if you are able to hide the realistic facial scaring, and bald/short female hair cuts, they would be enabling you as a bigot.
If you think the characters faces should be hidden you are intolerant of their looks and Bioware doesn't support you.

EDIT: i haven't**
I find it hilarious...
HILARIOUS
How Bioware made a HUGE deal out of Vivienne being modeled off of Maleficent, then they removed to ability to see her maleficent themed clothing in cut scenes, in order to make sure there was a bald female in the game to cater to (im assuming) cancer patients.

One of her personal quests was called: "Bring the heart of snow white"...
That was very... Disney.. even though maleficent and snow white belong to two different fairy tales.. ![]()
And you should have that option.Eh? I want the headgear off during cutscenes.
I really hope some patch from Bioware will include the option to show headgear in cutscenes.
I pretty much planned and created my inquisitor's looks in the presumption that the aewesome inquisitor hat or helmet would cover his face most of the time.

That is indeed correct.
I like the idea of heavy helmets coming off in conversation while mage or rogue headgear stays on, but I can see how that might be a bit finicky and probably just more trouble than it would be worth from a programming angle. Character-specific toggles would be awesome, but again, probably more trouble that they'd be worth from a design perspective.
I do wish Vivienne's and Cole's hats would stay on in the field, though. Given that BioWare clearly went to some trouble to design special headgear for those two characters, it's really jarring to not have said headgear present in the game's cinematic moments.
I've never really minded this, but I can see why it would bother some people. I know that I would prefer Vivienne's hat always stay on, its too awesome.
Also, I found the "Hat of the Inquisitor" (AKA the sex hat, because that's what people called it.) and put it on Solas, it was awesome.
Haha, I put the hat on Solas, too! (Mostly because he's the only one that could wear it without losing his hair...) Which is why I'd love to see it in cutscenes.
They also said we'd be able to have ours off while our companions have them on. But now it's all off or all on. I hate my helmet but I want Cole to have his hat.
disappearing helmets during cut scenes/dialogue=non-issue.
hide helmet during gameplay = AWESOME.
lack thereof= sad face
I just leave the helmets off all the time. I didn't spend two hours in character creation to hide my character's face under a helmet. This is a fantasy game not real life. While I would have liked to have had a toggle for certain characters like Vivienne's hat, alas I'd rather be able to have my character's helm off than to have to suffer with a helm on. And Cassandra's short hair fits her character. She had it in DA2. To those complaining: Sorry guys. Are we more than our hair and ass?
This is the main reason why I never use helmets. Even in Origins they were vendor trash. Now I just hide them.
i agree id like to see my helm at all times unless im not using one
They would need to take every possible helment into account when animating every cutscene and conversation to avoid clipping.
Didn't stop Leliana shoving her bow through her chest during one cutscene lol
The day I see a game like this with no clipping, I shall bow to the gods of technology
Aside from Helm of the Inquisitor and Vivienne's hat it doesn't bother me otherwise.
Unless it's a very special, cool looking hat/helmet, I don't really want to see it. It's pretty easy to imagine that my Inquisitor takes it off before he/she speaks most of the time.
With that said, I can understand what the other side of the argument is saying. While I don't share that interest, much of the little quirks of this game that I might not like are pandering to a different crowd. So, while I wouldn't use the option, I don't think it's unreasonable to want it. As an option.
Then again, they could always remove the option, set the game to always draw helmets and if you don't want to cover your PC's face, don't equip one. (IE: skyrim [unmodded]).
Aside from Helm of the Inquisitor and Vivienne's hat it doesn't bother me otherwise.
^^ Yup the hiding of the helm didn't bother me much but it would have been nice if you could at least wear the open faced ones like hats in the cut scenes.
Okay first off ppl reading this don't get pissed I love this game to death at already 600+ hours and still going this is just small things that kinda bugged me. Let me start by saying it would be nice to have an inquisitor that looked anything like the customization shot they showed. I.E http://img4.wikia.no...or_with_hat.jpg
I understand they needed to add that leather patch under the hat so they didn't have to bother adding all hairstyles to it I guess to save money but it looks ugly as crap with it, also look at that armor customization. would have been nice to have anything that looked even close to that with those awesome shoulders. Instead end up with a few generic outfits that look essentially the same on all classes other than the occasional rare armor plan you find (that you cant even upgrade legs or arms for) like the variations of orlesian armor.Armor looks allot different on companions also. I noticed when I made a dwarf that I could never look remotely as cool as Varric did as far as customization and it's not just him. While crafting that armor allot of the time looks allot better on my companions than it does on me and completely diff than what it looks like when I craft it on my Inquisitor It just seems like they put more time trying to make companions customized and just kind of gave the inquisitor the scraps.. Would be nice to have cullens helm also from the trailers also. If not for him at least something you could find that you could wear yourself. Vitaars are near impossible to find and are never where everyone else finds them, probs based off a randomly loot system. But they are also mis colored or generic and ugly. you will also find 20 of the same vitaar before you find anything new. But after all that said the fighting /world /music / voice acting everything but customization IMO is all aces so don't kill me.
They also said we'd be able to have ours off while our companions have them on. But now it's all off or all on. I hate my helmet but I want Cole to have his hat.
Wait when did they say this? I'm quite sure when asked about it they said that it's a global question, I can't remember when was that said tho. maybe at gamescon or that raptr Q&A.
