Yeah I'm pretty pissed now too. I remember all the fanboys I was arguing with who swore that the multiplayer wasn't going to detract from the single player, well this is further proof that you and I were both right. The controls are yet more evidence, it explains why the tac cam and tactical mode and tactical AI as a whole had so little thought put into them. Because they were an after thought because they were designing a system to be workable for Multiplayer.

I don't know when you would be talking about but I have gone through one set of upgrades with the Dragon Armor (sometime after I reached Skyhold) and now they've been left in the dust again. My current Liberace armor (well its a little better since I switched materials) is around 280 I think while the heaviest dragon armor is around 173. If there's another round of upgrades that makes them relevant again, then great. Looking forward to it.

It's rather late game/the higher level dragons. But then it's also bw not wanting to have people complaining dlc gives better :(

People complain about them not being responsive to fans but honestly I think they make their worst missteps when they're too responsive.

Sure, there's not so much out there if you just go for what you loot and such, besides the odd unique, but it takes little effort to buy the instructions for making other suits of armours and forging them with the crafting system. (one of the few I'm actually enjoying!) :-)

I think my Anna Trevelyan in Grey Warden gear right now looks pretty badass. :)

Here's hoping for some more armor variety in the future.

I smell DLC...

Why work on complex story based DLC when you can sprinkle your game with new armor, new haircut, etc.

It annoys me something serious.. We were promised 1000s of different armor combinations.. sure there might be 1000 different combinations.. but they all look the same..

What's more, I would have liked the armors to not have their own varying base stats, and instead have their stats purely affected by the material.. so say you love the appearance of the orlesian battlemage gear, it is T1? T2? It has 189 ish, don't quote me on that, max defence with T4 gear, then look at the warden mage armor, bout 30 or so higher, again, don't quote me, I am not near a crafting station to check. If you want the best armor defence you have to go for the main tier gear.. what I thought we were going to get was armor schematics that's stats were purely dependant upon the material.. a T4 orlesian battlemage robe has the same defense as T4 warden battlemage robes with the difference being the material used to make it.. I don't like the fact that I have to use sub par equipment to stick with the gear I love the look of in order to remain competitive in the late game rather than having so little armor that an enemy can one shot you because you chose form over function.

Not to mention it as has already been stated, the only decent looking gear is found end game.. why no legion of the dead T1 or T2 armor? Why is it all the way at the end of the game hidden in a tomb guarded by a high dragon?

Not to mention with the dragon drops being the only T4 crafting gear, you cannot make any T4 ice or lightning staffs.. If you want to use T4 in robes you are stuck with either orange.. or orange.. for rogue gear.. pale white.. warrior gear? Orange.. Weapons? You better like golden blade because guess what.. golden blades it is.

Well, this is what they (EA) do now. they give you the bare minimum to wet your appetite and then sell you optional cosmetic upgrades. I've seen more armor variety in the multiplayer than I have my whole 80 hour playthrough and that includes hitting all the vendors. At first I thought that the lack of variety was a bug, but then you look at the multiplayer...

I agree that armors are sadly limited in this game, not to mention the generally drab colors, but I believe you can craft heavy armor for mages using silverite which removes the class restriction.

Has anyone tried this? I will try this right now to see if it works on my Qunari Mage.

So I did try this. Yes it works, only thing is you need heavy boots and gloves to upgrade it. So really you aren't gaining anything because now you aren't using Magic and wisdom stats you are using str and con stats. And with all Warrior armor you get Warrior stats that aren't meant for mages so it's pointless because all the Armor for warrior switched to mage still looks like a mage when you put it on. Pointless.

It works, but your stuck using warrior stats like strength or dexterity & cunning on rogue armor.

Pretty much, of course, you could just throw Constitution for the warrior gear utility as it is useful for mages to help be less squishy and cunning for higher crit rate but then you're a mage, you shouldn't need to crit.

I guess it would be handier for a Knight Enchanter build. They are already OP as they are but this could possibly make them even more OP? Maybe even Nightmare Soloable? Actually scratch that, i forgot that you only get 8 skill slots, nvm never will be soloable lol.

oh there's more armour sets in the game. it's hidden behind a magical paywall that can be unlocked via the direct debit crafting tool. XD

This makes me froth at the mouth with so much rage I can't even begin to describe it.  WHAT THE HELL DID I TELL YOU PEOPLE.

I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. All the good stuff was going to be put into multiplayer while SP would be left in the cold!  WHERE ARE ALL THESE MOTHERLOVING OUTFITS IN THE CAMPAIGN?  This is ridiculous!   Shame on you BioWare.

Shame. On. You.

Multiplayer armour = one mesh to make, for one race/gender combination associated with the class.
Single player armour = 4-8 meshes per appearance, depending on amount of races it'll work for, multiplied by 2 genders. While models can be to some extent reused/modified, a number of them weren't and look very different on each race.

Or to put it differently, as far as the invested work goes the entire MP cast equals 2-3 single player armour sets.

pretty simple math, really.

Be fair, they always release a mix of story and gear based DLC.

Also to the one who posted the picture. I haven't found that yet but I have done plenty of shopping and crafting to get my Ezio Liberace armor. Thats the best I can do at the moment and thats sad. All the other options are one tier below.

I personally was dissatisfied with the race and class restrictions. For instance, the Legion of the Dead armor was by the the coolest looking piece of gear on Varric, but seeing as he is the only dwarf in your party and he is a rogue, the only way you ever use it is if you play a warrior dwarf inquisitor. Its like the ultimate tease, "ooh shiny gear.... can't wear it unless your main toon is a midget"  COME ON!

I was also let down by the lack of epicness in the crafting. Here i am saving all of my mats after killing 10 or so dragons, come to find out im already gear that is far to superior to anything i can craft with my shiny new mats.

BIOWARE! Just a tip, not being sarcastic i swear, if you are going to introduce this crafting system, which was a fun and awesome idea, please make sure that the best gear in the game is only available through crafting.

There are some who would very much disagree with you about that. What good is the quest for the mighty sword of dragonslaying if you can craft a vorpal sword of dragon violation at the crafting table?

Then again, Dragon Age usually throws that out the window.

Armor schematics should have just been nothing but a template/design with nothing on it, no tier an no armor an certainly not class restricted and a armor rating rune system introduced so ppl could pick and choose whatever armor design they wanted to use.

yea i actually stopped playing DAI altogether overnight when the compounded realization of very limited 3-4 variant armor sets set in, the small combat and pc control nuances and the unshakable thought of how intentionally they limit single player armor sets to make way for multiplayer because its a huge revenue generator for them in multiplayer.

I guess DAI looks really good for first impressions and demo playthroughs, but falls very short when its small annoyances just kill the game when they compromise gameplay for profit and more long term profit. Im on PC and im actually ok with it being an obvious console port, but when everything snowballs i just feel like i need to take a ****. I enjoyed the game for a short while but... well it was a good run

I gotta agree, I am now just trying to get my way through the game and then put it aside until they fix things either through patch or free DLC, because I will not be buying any DLC for this game I think.

I wish armor sets weren't restricted, atleast then we'd have more things to choose from. I really wanted to wear the grey warden mage attire for my rogue. I'm so sick of armor restrictions, why can't rogues have cloth gear? All the medium armor look like crap.

This has always been the problem with Bioware games.  90% of the time, the party members look better than your own damn character.

Yay, I'm the leader of the Inquisition!  But....then why do I look like a hobo in these beige pajamas and hand-me down enchanter robes?
