If you could have anything you wanted, and I mean anything, no fetish no matter how weird is off the table, what would you want to see?
What types of romance options would you like to see in the next Dragon Age?

Straight females already had great options in DA:I, including the stereotype of good heart, blond, cute, hot, strong guy who is sweet in his inside in the form of Cullen, the "supermodel" romance.
As an straight male, what I want is basically that for straight males, a female version of the character of Cullen: an stereotypical cute, hot, sweet ("supermodel") girl to romance, because seriously Bioware, as much as I like the fact that now characters are way better written than in any previous game and as much as I understand the beneficts of the gated romances instead of that mess that was DA 2, the options for straight males in DA:I sucks, plain and simple: Cassandra is manlier than any male character of the game and doubles the age of half the characters and the own players, and Josephine is not a cute/hot girl by videogames standards (she is not horrible, she is simply averague) and her romance is very plain.
I understand why Leliana (my obvious choice before she was confirmed as not romanceable) is not romanceable, but take as example Miranda from ME 2, she was a good example of romance for an straight male in videogames, I would like something (and someone) like that in the next DA.

Why is everyone acting like only the straight males get less options than straight females.
Gay/Lesbian Inquisitors also get less options yet no one cares about that.

First, and I don´t want by any means to come as homophobic, becase there are more heterosexual players than homosexual ones and since most complains about romances in this game have come and still comes from Straight males I would assume there are more heterosexual male players than heterosexual female and homosexual male and female players.
Second, because homosexual players and heterosexual females gets more options and better ones:
_Homosexual male: Gets Dorian (best character of the game and he is considered cute and hot) and Iron Bull (who is more of a comedy romance, his scene is awesome)
_Homosexual female: Gets Sera (fanservice), Josephine (averague)
_Heterosexual female: Gets the best options of the game: Blackwall (the older, strong and caring guy), Cullen (the "hollywood supermodel" romance), Solas (the best romance of the game for reasons I can´t say without giving spoilers)

DWARVES. My God man, all of us beard lovers are stuck with anything but our own type. Seriously, would trust a pikey human or poncey elf to french braid your back hair correctly in the throes of passion? Let's not even bring up the whole physical impossibility of a dwarf/qunari romance. We've had three dwarves as NPCs, Oghren was a force of nature more than a romance option, Varric was Captain Expository, and then there was Sigrun the perky goth. We get to romance none of them.
And I second the more hetero options, I don't do the gay romances and there were a staggering lack of straight women in this game. Okay there was one straight female in the game, which was one more than the number of dwarf romance options. So maybe a straight female dwarf and I'm happy.

Yeesh, we're off to a great start on this thread already but I would second the dwarf romance. I understand how difficult managing character/dialogue resources for the game is - even before considering romance scenes and options - but I think it would be a good addition to the games. I know he was a jerk (and got into some weird territory in DAA) but I liked Oghren in DAO and I've loved Varric in DA2 and DAI and Sigrun and Harding are pretty much some of the most endearing characters ever so I'd love to see a little dwarf love thrown the players way, heh!

How can you tell what sexuality people online have? Just because straight males complain about the romance options doesn't mean that there isn't gay and bi players. Just because people don't complain online doesn't mean they don't exist? Sorry but your argument is confusing. Many of us in the LGBT community were really happy because so many of the romances in the game were an option for us.
I think they organized it like this, that way each category gets 2 romances:
Male Inquisitors - Cassandra & Dorian
Female Inquisitors - Blackwall & Sera
Male and Female Inquisitors - Iron bull & Josephine
Race specific romances - Cullen & Solas
Either way for future games I hope we can get more fleshed out romances that have bigger affection in the game. As for gender and characters I'd love to romance a male dwarf (I will always love you Varric).

Sera fanservice!!!!! As a lesbian I found (her) it insulting..... Don't mind her put in the game but not as a love interest. With this rubbish there was one option less and Josephine, very bland really. So what was left, nothing really.
Deverting to Dorian, Solas. It is a RPG after all. But DA2 where horrible characters and now its much better if you are not limited because off an psychiatric idiot that can't even produce coherent sentences.

1.)It is undoubtably true that heterosexual males are the loudest demographic playing this game, and quite likely even the biggest demographic.
Though, I wouldn't say with absolute ceirtanty that more hetero men play this game than hetero women, just that the former are louder and cry more online.
Even so, a true piece of art that people truly appreciate, isn't made by catering to the demographic that plays your game the most, but by making a good quality product.
Homosexual romances are extremely rare in fiction, and if a game had 50 of them, there would still be less than 1% gay representation in video games, so the point I was trying to make, that even if only 8% (that's my prediction) of people who play Dragon Age are gay, it's still worth to have a plethora of homosexual options avaliable because it is telling a type of story that is rarely seen in fiction.
2.)Quality of romance options in a personal option, you can't say that a romance option is better than other as a fact, it is all subjective.Quantity, however can be measured objectively, and straight men have just as many romance options as most other demographics except one.
That was my point, I wasn't trying to blame you or anything.

I feel as if in this regard, Bioware is mounting an ongoing good faith effort to be inclusive for a wide range of personal tastes. As far as I'm concerned they can keep right on trucking.
I'm hetero, but always try out every romance (and from every perspective), just to experience the story from all angles. It is an RPG after all?

Miranda is cute and sweet, Josephine isn't? I like both characters, but based on personality traits I would say that Josephine fits your 'ideal' description more than Miranda does. Cassandra also likes smutty romance novels, which is stereotypically feminine. Not sure what makes Cassandra so 'manly' anyway, she's a brash woman who stands up for her ideals. I suppose this could fall under the 'masculinity' tree, but Morrigan and Miranda have similar traits in many ways.
It may have just been more honest to say that you don't find Cassandra and Josephine physically attractive and left it at that.

Honestly I would quite like to see another non human romance option for a heterosexual male protagonist. So far over the three games we've had the options of 5 humans and one elf.
Also dwarfs in general. Seriously, Sigrun, Varric and now Harding?!? If you're not going to let us romance one at least stop making them so damn sexy!

So.......you're complaining because female characters get:
Blackwall (all races) - An imposter who's been lying to you the whole time, and he leaves you and the inquisition after you sleep with him. Fun times
Solas (elves only) - A bald squinty eyed twig-man who's more interested in the spirits of the fade than real life....and he leaves you at the end and....
Cullen (elves and humans only) - A drug addict who you get to either mother hen him out of his addiction or help him cave into it. Fun times! At least he stays....(and btw, he's not 'super model good looking') (although I will say his endearing awkwardness grew on me...and I bemoaned his inclusion as a option)
IB - He's for everyone so I'm not going to say anything about him. (although after listening to the Chantry Sisters gossip about sleeping with IB....
.)
My wish for a future romance: a DragonAge romance with a guy who 1) isn't broken and in need of being repaired/redeemed due to some tragic happenstance 2) someone without ulterior motives, oh, and 3) someone who doesn't flake out on you and leave. A dwarf as hot as Harding or Varric would also be good
....I like their no-nonsense style.
(my thoughts only good Bioware straight female romance so far in DA or ME has been Garrus
....and he's a flippin' metaloid bird/cat something or other! )
