Hello my fellow Dragonslayers,

 

I'm currently on my first playthrough(on Nightmare) and dealing am trying to deal with the horrendously low survivability of everyone but my tank. For that I have found Fade-Touched Quillback Leather/Gurn Hide which both, supposedly, set your health to 12 but reduce all incoming damage to one. 

However I have a terrible time finding them. I have killed very well a few hundreds Quillbacks in the Western Approach and the Gurns there don't seem to drop Gurn Hide. Gurns(those Rhinoceros thingys) in the Hissing Wastes drop Hardened Gurn Hide and another Fade touched Leather which isn't of any use.

Has anyone found a good spot to get one of those two items? Maybe a quest, a good farming spot, a treasure or maybe even from one of the inquisition perks?

I've tried to constantly kill the ones that spawn near camp. I've used reloading a save but I've not had much luck. Definitely killed over 400 and haven't gotten one yet.

I feel with you, I'm pretty sure I've done like 200+ Gurn and easily 400+ Quillback in the Western Approach and NOTHING. Not even the Game Guide has any conclusive info where to get them.
