From my understanding it depends on whom the Warden Romanced.

If Alistair, Zevran, Lelianna. Your Warden is alive and trying to stop the calling.

If Morrigan. Your Warden is on the long walk. Thus their story is coming/has come to an end.

My Warden romanced Morrigan and was out to end the calling as well.

Edit: I'd also like to see a DLC about the Warden's quest. Could be a really cool adventure, dealing with new lore and locations. Maybe Morrigan could join the Warden as a companion, and (unless I'm mistaken) the Architect could get involved regardless of his fate in Awakening, perhaps as a villain.

I know it's a big wish because of the voice acting+writing challenge that the Warden presents, and the plot variables that could get involved would certainly complicate things. But I'll remain cautiously hopeful because of how awesome it would be.

My warden romanced Morrigan as well and he's out there searching for a cure to the calling.

I think It would be nice to revisit the warden too. Its rather amazing the attachment we have to the character even though we haven't touched him/her for the past 2 adventures now.

So if the Warden is left alive s/he goes on a journey to find a cure for the Taint? Sounds like a good dlc!

I could be in the minority, but I kinda would've wanted corypheus to take control of HoF since it would make sense that they'd cross paths, especially since HoF didn't know much about Cory and Warden history.

They said in the art book there was a pic of leliana crying and the inq sitting on the throne and a darkspawn Desciples head on a pike....honestly thought that was our Warden

Who said this? If that pic really does exist in the art book I hope it isn't concept art for a future DLC regarding our Warden's fate. I don't want my Inquisitor executing my Warden, I hope that's avoidable. :(

We considered it.

In the end, there were simply too many variables, too many issues with implementation that would have made the net worth of physically including the Warden problematic for the very people that said inclusion would ostensibly have been for, and, ultimately, we didn't want to.

So they want the Warden be gone? What a shame

poor Warden, hated even by their own creators

Dragon Age isnt about the warden.

I think we all know that. We only want closure with our first DA protagonist, one that Bioware keep bringing back up, (-cough- DA 2 ending and now wrote themselves into a corner with the cure for the Calling in DA:I) even though many of us were satisfied with how it ended in Awakening/ or Witch Hunt if you romanced Morrigan.

Dragon Age isnt about the warden.

And Pokemon isn't about Red

Doesn't mean we can't like a specific protagonist and feel sorry if the creators treat them like this

Reminds me of Ron from HP. Rowling once considered poor fella to die. Thankfully she decided against it. Guy deserves better

Besides we still got 2 old gods in the deep roads which guaranties another blight. Might as well save the warden for that.

Again about the Warden. I got more than what I needed out of Leliana and the letter. She's trying to cure her taint like Grand Enchanter Fiona to avoid the Culling. If she succeeds then she is no longer "the Warden" and she still gets the girl. Personally though, just hearing that Leliana's plan to rejoin her for good was all I wanted to hear.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a warden DLC ala Lilliana's song that covers the quest to end the calling. This DLC could be used to shape the warden's personality for future DLC and/or games. However, I feel there is the potential for some amazing DLC involving all 3 dragon age protagonists. If they do go this route, it'd nearly have to be an expansion. The reason I'm leaning towards this is, if you keep Hawke alive, she goes to Weisshaupt. If the warden succeeds in finding a cure for the calling, he'd likely go where the wardens are before heading home. Which is where? Weisshaupt. I'm pretty sure the inquisitor would catch wind of this, either from direct correspondence from the hero, commander, or champion, or via rumors heard from one of your advisors or Varric. So off he goes, to Weisshaupt. Pretty sure that would be amazing and the groundwork is already set, If only to a degree.

Only to find Leliana as Divine once the Warden returned, who might break up the romance.  Or do you want a Warden DLC where you get to see find out if such cure exist and talk to Divine Leliana to reassure your relationship. I'll take the latter, but you seem to be fine with the former.

A cure from the calling doesn't automatically means a cure from the Taint

This cure might just get rid of that nasty "turn-into-ghoul/or-go-die-in-DR" part. Kind of like Utah. Minus looking like a corpse. Like Avernus, for example

Wonder if Avernus is still alive and that the rant of his coming death is nothing more than rants.

Considering that we do deal with both Grey Wardens and some Darkspawn and we do happen to spend half of the game in Fereldan the only logical and sensible reason the Warden is not present are the difficulties of their implementation. And I guess Bioware's disdain, apparently

I was just happy to hear my male Dalish Warden was still together with Zevran. Made me happy, and that was enough for me. :)

The chance to get involved in Wardens searching  is given by Fiona :) Just saying :)

No, apperently, that is dependent on your world state.

Morrigan was the one who triggered that war table mission for me as my Warden went through the mirror with her to raise their son.

my cousland married Alistair and became Queen I was happy with her ending in awakening and then they brought it up in 2 and Inquisitation for once Bioware leave it to rest once and for all instead of getting peoples hopes up if you dont want to show the warden make a final ending for the ones that are alive and finsih it and move the hell on end of

I thought the writers handled the Hero/Leliana romance very well, considering they had no plans to include an appearance by HoF. That said, I'd be surprised if that whole story is completely dropped- finding a cure for the Calling has huge implications for the entire Warden order, current and future. Seems much too big to be ignored, and I seriously hope there's some DLC down the line.

(And there's got to be some way to include an appearance by HoF, even if it's some clever wordless thing. The Warden shown only from the back or something.)

Yes, but it's not the continuing adventures of the grey warden and his friends.

Technically it is, seeing that all 3 casts have some kind of recurring character, even if they aren't necessarily at the forefront.

I read the voice argument very often. But it´s nothing that can´t be avoided.

- "The taint spread and robbed the commander of his/her voice. So I will speak for him/her."

Or the easier option. "I'm sorry, the Hero of Ferelden lost his/her tongue in battle. Now I speak for him/her."

"Wait, aren't you the hero of Kirkwall?"

"Shush you."

Or just give the Warden two voices to choice from like the Inquisitor.  I'll lol if Mark Meer/Jennifer Hale voice one of those 2.  "I'm the Warden Commander, and this is my favorite store in Thedas."
