The enemy spawns are ridiculous sometimes.

I managed to overcome it all in the end, but seriously... It's annoying. Anyone else have similar fights?

I was moving through the Hinterlands doing the side quest for the bear claws and spotted one. My party and I attack and everything is going well when another of the black bears shows up. Okay... We got this. The first bear is almost dead so I order Cass to begin harping on the other one while I finish off the first. Next thing I know Viv is down and Varric is being chomped to bits by yet another bear! Before I'm able to blurt out a Wtf two of those Lyrium smuggler rogues join in the fray and it's madness everywhere.

That was one of my favorite fights in game. Mine had 2 wolf packs too.
End up having everyone die staying stealthed up, rezzing a couple times.
Awsome to come out on top finally.

I think that fight is scripted, but I'd enemies spawing out of thin air, while I was fighting others. It made give up on nightmare. Pure bs
I was on my horse when bear attacked, i was like, ok, you are dead. And after half a minute, i saw another bear in backround doing his own thing and was thinking - No, no, not here, shu, shu, go to other direction, but he came and **** unfold, so i tried to move around a little, and when i was about to kill first bear, varric got one shot killed out of nowhere. I was wtf, and there was Lyrium induced Smuggler Rouge or something like that killed him. And what pissed me off is when i killed that one, other Smuggy showed, and cause fight is now lasting almost 5 minutes, another bear joined the fray. so basically i had a fight with three bears and two smugglers. It was insane. And with tactical camera being **** and my guys using spells and abilities like idiots during fights like that i just decided why bother and that i can play this way on normal for the story.

Is it right by one of the camps? I had a very similar fight. One black bear, then two more together while I was trying to loot the first, then the lyrium smugglers showed up (I hadn't seen any before so when I saw my mage was getting whacked I was like wtf??). Finally one regular bear turned up, after which I was finally allowed to loot all the dead bears in peace.
I had another lol moment while I was messing about posing for screenshots on my horse with the HUD off, when out of nowhere I get jumped from behind and end up getting Bravehearted off of a cliff ![]()

Yes.
Then ride of the Valkyries started blasting and some wolves came to my rescue.
One of those is a lie.

The good part is that they suffer from the same problem all melee rogues have so they can hardly ever hit me or anyone in my party. And you can see that they have a constant speed buff to try and make up for the broken class that dagger rogues are, but it doesn't help.

I can't walk 5 meters without getting into a really boring fight with some random predator I don't want to fight. Short of the fact that they are tied into crafting I'd rather not be on the wildlife extermination protocol at all.
BTW wasn't there talk that wildlife would be "responsive" to how intensively you culled it? If there is any response it appears to be inverse as the Pheonix and Bears and Wolves are calling in reinforcements.

If I don't want to fight wildlife, a lot of times I can let them pass by and move on. Not always, but I'd say 50% of the encounters in the open world can be avoided. Just wait for them to spot a Fennec.

I wouldn't mind if the re-spawn rates in the hinterlands was turned down a bit. I've seen enemies appear out of thin air. Got a little tedious after a while knocking the same enemies over, at some point you want to get where you're going.

Today I was fighting in the hinterlands and there spawned literally 15 enemies all around me. It was a miracle that I was able to escape. I am playing on hard so I had no chance

Some areas are dead after you go through them once and stay that way forever, others have these insane spawn times. I had to fight four bears, one after the other, because they kept spawning the second one of them would die. The maker damned hyenas are also extremely annoying, you kill them, turn around and can fight three more of them. Its madness

Totally agree with you. These kind of situations make things more exciting..and actually more immersive, what's wrong with that? lol

It once took me 20 minutes to loot a chest that I saw 50 meters away because of respawns.

It is immersive to you have to have insanely unrealistic rates of predator spawns? If anything the overspawning of wildlife slaps me in the face with how unreal the world is

My problem is with enemies disappearing in and out of existence.
I was fighting a templar archer once and then he just ran away from me (one of the moves of archer enemies where they run a little distance away from you when you get close and then shoot) and then he just vanished off of the face of the earth before my very eyes. From a lore perceptive, I explained it as The Maker taking him and saving him from death because he's an innocent guy who shouldn't even be fighting in the war but my heart knew it was just a glitch...
Seriously, the enemy spawns are all messed up. Save a game and when you reload it, you could be surrounded by enemies. Clear an area in a cave, walk a few meters away, return to that specific point in the cave and the enemies will have respawned. None of this makes sense in half the instances and needs to be patched. I'm grateful for areas containing lots of enemies to kill but I think they should only respawn when you've trekked half a distance across the map or leave the entire area and come back.
The best one was when I was fighting in that mage and templar battlefield in the Hinterlands and I parried a templar off of a small hill which sent him flying, when he hit the ground, he simply disappeared. No XP gained, it wasn't a fall that would kill him and his HP was half empty (or half full depending on your perceptive!) from the hit so the attack itself couldn't have killed him and finally no corpse was anywhere to be found...the forensic team are going to have an impossible task for this one...

Yeah, wilderness animals especially seem to spawn constantly around you. In the exalted plains I had wolves/dogs spawning right in front of me pretty often.

No the spawns aren't what made it feel immersive.
Looking around on mine the additional spawns were brought in by the rams. Which I think is pretty damn cool. The spawn issue was later after the fight 2 more bears spawned on that spot so I had to pull them away...So yes that was not so good immersion wise ![]()
But yeah the original concentration was organic as it were.
And honestly I'd love to see more stuff like that. Sure your party dies sometimes but it sure is fun!
