The enemy spawns are ridiculous sometimes.

Well, I've come upon a cave where spiders seem to infinitely spawn. I can't kill them fast enough and there's a quest I need to do in here.
The issue is that I don't know if this spawn rate is intended, and perhaps I'm supposed to come back at another level, or if this is just another symptom of a broken/bugged respawn system.

If it's the cave in the Forbidden Oasis to get the wedding ring there are two or three spawns you have to defeat and then it stops. I think it's designed that way.

I eventually figured it out. I think the problem was I was wandering too far out of the cave trying to line of sight them, which might have ended up resetting the waves or something.

yep it is. the questgiver mention that lighting the torches may attract or disperse the spiders (he cant remember) so maybe you can influence the fight by it. my experience, one lit torch = a lot of spiders but no comparison if more or less when you dont do it or lit all four
