It is akin to Arcane Warrior 2.0. Almost invincible. At level twelve with 2 ability points for barrier and 11 for Knight Enchanter you can kill anything and never need to cast other spells. I understand why people like it but you have to admit it is OP-broken.

Completely. I was able to solo the level 19 Dragon with Vivienne after accidentally stumbling on it while level 15

Yes. Overpowered as hell. Removes all of the fun and strategy from the game.

It's only OP if you know to play your cards. I especially like that I can fuel my barriers with the Knight Enchanter and use those barriers as fuel for my fire spells.

Yup. My first time through the game I chose that specilization and it made the game really easy.

I'll probably never use that specilization again because of how OP it is. Hell my mage was a better tank than Cassandra was.

It's a single player game.  If you don't like it, don't use it.  Why are you so concerned with how it is for other players?  Why try and make a post claiming it's 'broken' or 'OP', as if this was some kind of PVP game where class balance was necessary?  Not everyone plays on the same level or difficulty, so if people are enjoying the class as it is, there's no need for you spoil their fun since they're not affecting you.

Yeah, there are so many passives that mitigate damage, and the KE tree has one that restores you barrier when you do damage... Effectively giving you infinite barrier. I had a staff with a 10% chance to use Unbowed on a hit, so I was generating guard, too.

It is very broken and I regret I took it as advanced class.

I solo everything.. no need for potions or tactics just hack and slash and ignore the group.

up to skyhold I used pause\potions and tactics to win fights. once I got the KE class I became soe imba it's boring.

Woah. First overpowered is not limited to PVP. This class can tank and survive better than any warrior and certainly better than any mage. You can let all your party die and keep going. Your party is largely irrelevant. What other class/specialisation can do that? None. Regardless, this is just a discussion about the class, people can say whatever they want about it. I am not preventing other people from enjoying it. No idea where you got that from.

O_O

Although, I can do less or more that people are doing with a KE with a Weapon&Shield Warrior. It's just so easy to generate guard.

Curious if this is just the case for lower difficulties or high ones as well?

isn't that the point? everyone loved A.W but lorewise like blood magic it doesn't fit. everyone bitched about it being absent in DA2 so they basically brought it back.

full well knowing its a badass mage warrior class.

I'm glad it's back i fact i rushed through the end of my necromancer playthrough so that i could play as a K/E before the cries of O.P becoming so deafening that Bioware decide to Nerf it rather than work on actual patches for bugs and glitches that are affecting people's ability to play the game.

I will never understand people bitching about a powerful class in a single player game, i can see where their coming from, just never understand it. AAA titles for the most part only offer limited challenges for most hardcore gamers in the first place.

I only play on Nightmare. I made a backup save took Knight Enchanter at level 12, respecced and everything died. My whole party died but it did not matter. Just slash, infinite barrier and kill everything and don't forget freezing time and resurrection. Not sure what they were thinking when they made this class.

I think what they're saying is, if people keep complaining about KE, Bioware will nerf it, ruining the fun for those who like it being OP.

There's a simple answer. Limit yourself. Don't take the passive that refills your barrier, for example.

I started a sort of similar topic, basically got accused of being a "elite" an talking out my arse, anyhow as i said in that thread the 3 specs u can choose as mage are all a tad OP, but ppl like that an i wouldnt take it away from them tbh, my gripe with the 3 of them is i find all 3 pretty darn boring, not because there OP just the plain fact there crap to me.

I had took KE and was sleeping through the game so i basically just specced out of it and now just use the default specs, i personally find the defaults a hell of alot more fun to use tbh

It's only OP if you use it.  Besides why should it matter on SP?

Why are you making a thread about a topic literally everyone agreed on like half a week ago? We don't need more circlejerks.

If you don't like Knight Enchanter, play Rift Mage or Necromancer instead.

OMG PROBLEM SOLVED.

Agreed. You would get no arguments from me on this regard.

Knight Enchanter is the only specialized class in the game that can solo dragons and giants and huge mobs of enemies. No other class can do that.

Tis' funny...

Bioware said that they would take healing out and redo the specializations to not recreate the Arcane Warrior thing...and then they end up giving us the Knight Enchanter...Talk about irony...LOL !

If they nerf the class that you don't have to use because of complaints like these I'm coming for you. e.e

It's very OP when you build it right, and that's exactly why I like it.

I chose KE because the tactical mode has buggy camera and I'd like to not use it. And now I solo everything, don't even bother to revive my companions. Give me a taunt and they won't even die in the first place.

But really, it's hard to design a melee mage without making it OP or useless. Not enough defense and you die faster than DW rogue. Not enough damage and you just becomes a tank that doesn't draw aggro. So here we go.

I... don't... understand... why... this... matters. If you think KE is overpowered, don't play one. It's a primarily single player game and thus harms no one. There are some of us that actually enjoy having a powerful, as opposed to needlessly gimped, character. So if you want challenge, just choose another specialization.

Yes and it is glorious. I hear assassin is kind of OP too because its all passives so you become a DPS bot.
