Easy fix for that: Don´t put any skill point in the KE skill tree of Vivienne and TADAAA!!! Vivienne won´t be a KE!
That's not how balance works, you know that, right?

This is Critical Mass wizard from Diablo 3 all over again. If they nerf it for Single Player, I'm done with this game. I'm play on Nightmare with a rogue right now just fine, so it's not even about me abusing the class for easy playthrough. I'm glad there isn't PvP.
Waaah, someone is playing their SP game with a class I don't like. Waaaaah!
It's a SP game. Who cares.

Did you stop playing origins after they nerfed mages?(Even if they are still OP)
Yes. Overpowered as hell. Removes all of the fun and strategy from the game.
Or, for people like me that hated the game: Makes the game playable.

Nah, there's a mod to put it back to where it was before. You can't mod Frostbite.
I find that I melt dragons a lot quicker using Reaver than KE.

Try using Tempest and see who's more broken.
I don't really like the mage specs, only chose KE cause I got locked out of Rift Mage... The 'Rifter Mages' only gave me 2 tomes and all the venatori in exalted plains/wherver else never dropped one so. and Dorian is a necro already so that left KE. I wasn't impressed by the mage specs :/ Depressing

KE has bad DPS save against armor/barrier. Its main strength is that, so long as the character can deal damage, they are basically invincible. Fade Sheild makes the KE what it is; remove that passive and the spec is nothing special.
Not that we should remove it. It's not a multiplayer game. But maybe nerf Fade Shield (to 20% dmg done?) a bit, IF the poorer specs in the game (Artificier and Templar, mostly) are buffed alongside it.
Instead of nerfing, just buff other mage classes. If they must then make it a DLC instead of those want it to get nerf just download the DLC, but don't dictate how others suppose to play the game.

Why bother nerfing it at all? No one is holding a gun to your head and telling you to play KE. It's a single player game. Deal with it. Don't pee in someone else's Cheerios.
It is OP, but it makes up for how boring the other mage classes are. Nothing wrong with OP classes in a SP game.
People say Tempest rock when it comes to DPS, I think KE are not overpowered, just immortal gods with invulnerability and more than decent damage
Knight Enchanter Master Race.
Deal with it.
I am very much of the opinion that I do not need a game company to tell me I have no self-control and take over managing my playing. I knew going in what it was, I consciously made that decision, and I do not regret it. As aboves have said; this is a single-player game (well, this part). I should be able to play as damn well as I please.
Is Knight-Enchanter overpowered? Absolutely, yes. I went up a difficulty level (and if tac-cam was of any use I would also use FF) to keep me on my toes. Can it be fun for certain players? 100% yes. Because I did not rush for a specialization, or Skyhold for that manner, I -feel- like I earned the right to be a b****** to take down.
I'm under no illusions; I'm sure Bioware will nerf it because the majority want it so. Ideally, I wish they would allow a toggle in the menu for 2 settings; original and patched; with a default to patched and an explanation of both sides. That way everyone would be happy. But chances of that happening? Not likely.
I just find it funny that Bioware themselves acknowledged that Arcane Warrior was OP and that Knight Enchanter was their answer to reintroducing a melee mage into the series...only to make it as, if not more, OP than Arcane Warrior was.
You mean "There, we've removed a significant chunk of content and replayability from your game." And you've done it for no particular reason. There are already difficulty settings from Casual to Nightmare.
Balance the game. Pick your difficulty level.
"A significant portion of content and replayability"? One single specialization? Kay.
Balance the game by making a personal choice to gimp yourself by not playing something you feel is OP. Don't **** over a ton of other people because you need to flex your peen.
By that logic, not playing the game will fix all bugs currently in the game - I hope you don't mind paying full price for a game you won't be playing.
In general, unbalanced classes reduce tactical depth - if the optimal strategy is always "Send a lone KE to murder everything" then the game becomes a lot less interesting (and before you say "Don't pick KE" - that still only leaves me with 8 playable classes, which is less than 9)
Well that's an idiotic comparison. Bugs are not the same as specific class design choices.
And for the record, I'm playing a two-handed Champion and murdering things just fine. If you need a Knight Enchanter to be able to kill things for you... well... play better.
I get to be Gandalf + Jedi, so no ![]()
If they nerf the class that you don't have to use because of complaints like these I'm coming for you. e.e
This, especially since I HAVE to play online for 2 seconds to get a keep world state (forcing me to download any patches).
It`s just an ugly wart of the game. Many games do have this kind of garbage balance issues in them, two previous DA games included. Not sure why this keeps happening, but game designers should pay more attention the the game mechanics that they are introducing. In fact, all three big RPG games that have come out this year (Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2 and now DA:I) have some big issues with their combat and AI mechanics.
