Be pro-Chantry, pro-Circle, and your character must impress her (acquire political power and do the things that benefit the Inquisition even if they aren't the nice and possibly most "noble" thing to do). Definitely fetch the White Wyvern heart and also the Circle tomes.

Support the Mage circles supervised by Templers where possable.
Indicate you undersatnd and appreciate her 'sage' advice when she gives it to you.

Don't bother, she is stupid and irrelevant.

Those are all Main Story events which require certain point of the Main story to pass.
I'm talking about side events like how Varric gain approval when killing red Templars, Solas gain approval for activating Elven artifacts, and Cole gain Moderate Approval when completing side-quests.

So no one knows how to raise her approval beyond main story missions?
The White Wyvern Quest only appears if players gain enough approval so that out of the option until her approval is high enough.
Currently seems Vivienne doesn't react to most options unless she is in the Group.

All you have to do is agree with everything she says and do what she would do at any given time. No free will for you!

There is the favours of the first enchanters quest where you get favour from Viv for collecting some stuff. I think its the books.

Yes I have done already.
However, now I'm just trying to figure out how Vivienne Approval works outside of Main Storyline quests, companion quests, and dialogues asking about question you ask her. As of now it seems Vivienne is the only companion that doesn't have much options in gaining approval where everyone else has a lot more gains to their approval.
Sera, for example, has a large amount of Operations that provide approval. (already up to her 6th or 7th operation mission)
Iron bull can kill Vinetori and High Dragons to gain approval.
Vivienne so far only gain approval from main Story mostly only when players bring her with them to the Main Story quest and only provides 2 to 3 operations.

Yeah... does Vivienne approve of you killing anything? Like, maybe Demons or Apostates??? You'd think she would.

Vivienne isn't as hard to get approval for as I thought she'd be, despite making bigger story decisions that she did nothing but disapprove of, like allying with the mages as well as the Wardens. Of course, I suggested that there should be mages in the Chantry and she greatly approved of that, approved of handing over Samson to Cullen, then of course the war table operations, and her personal quest, which gains massive approval as well, provided you don't choose the ultimatum option in dialogue or lie about the wyvern heart.

Drinking the cool aid at the Well of sorrows raises her approval greatly even if she's not present.

Iron Bull apparently disapproves if you let Morrigan do it.

In my case, the only way to gain her approval is to violently drop dead within her sight. But that's okay, the feeling is mutual.

Viviene favors order and progress. She wants the Circles back as a place of learning and study for those with magical talent, not the prisons they were known for. Show a willingness to change things for the better, she's not a difficult character to read into and get on her better side.

From the guide:
Vivienne cannot be romanced, but she holds strong opinions, which can lead to major swings in approval depending on your conversation options and actions. She has a strong need for order and discipline. As such, instability caused by the Breach is a major concern. In addition to sealing the Breach, she wants the mage rebellion crushed and the Circle restored to power. Nothing more, nothing less. She is also very skeptical of Cole and Morrigan’s true intentions.
Vivienne approval gains:
Conscript mages or Ally with templars
When made an inquisitior - say you'll be a servant of faith or set an example as a mage
Exile wardens after securing Adamant
Drink from the well
Lose approval or get disapproval:
Ally with mages or disband templars
Allow wardens to join inquisition
Support Gaspard or Birala
Allow Morrigan to drink from the well

I'm having the same issue. All the major story choices I'm making are the ones she strongly disagrees against, and in the beginning while talking to her I stupidly was honest about how I felt on mage freedom. My approval is obviously pretty low. And there isn't any way of getting it higher really- the more main quests I finish the more she will disaprove.

idk, she's one of the most difficult to get high approval with if you ****** her off with main story choices.
I ****** off Cassandra just as much with my typical story choices but I end up bffs with her at the end. Her extra missions give a ridiculous approval boost, unlike Vivienne.

You can gain quite a bit with her, i never do what she wants in Main quest but she ends up liking me anyways.
There are also WT missions from her where you can get her approval
Truth or Dare: The Imperial Court
Truth or Dare: Lake Celestine
When you talk to her for first time at Haven (before Mage/Templars quests) she will talk to you about Enchanter Lydia if you are human mage. "She was a mentor." gains approval.
She we also ask you why you were at the Conclave "We need the Circle restored.", "This chaos harms everyone." "The rebels are apostates." gains you great approval.
She will ask you about what you think about your power/role "The Chantry will be restored." is the right answer.
After the Mage/templar quest:
She will offer to keep an eye on Mages (if sided with mages) tell her it's a good idea and that she should keep it hidden.
She will say that more lyrium is needed (templars side) tell her that it might not be enough.
When talking about magic agree with her or tell her that templars aren't the solution
When talking about the future of the chantry tell her "We need mages in the Chantry" or "We need the Circle back"
Right after getting to Skyhold
When she asks if you are ok tell her that you are fine, that she is right or that you will do what she suggests. (the conversation depends on what approval you have with her at that point) after that "I couldn't save them all." "Mind your own business" "Corypheus will pay for this" will do.
When talking about the Skyhold decor agree with her that appearances matter and ask her if style is enough. You can also use the special and ask her to what standard she keeps the future Divine (if you not afraid of her becoming divine).
I don't even do everything listed above and she still thinks I'm a darling.

Her war table quests should give you approval if you complete them.
There's also some judgement decisions that she approves of, though I can't remember specifically which ones she approves of. Probably best to save beforehand and try a few different options if you want her approval up.
Recruiting Enchanter Ellendra in the crossroads in the Hinterlands gets approval too, because Vivienne has a unique dialogue to convince Ellendra to join the Inquisition.
Other than that, she mostly seems to give approval in main story quests. Save all the villagers during In Your Heart Shall Burn, and she'll approve if in the party. Side with Celene, drink from the Well, etc. Obviously agreeing with her in conversation gets approval, as well as indicating that you approve of order over chaos.

Get a high approval in Halamshiral.
Side with the templars.
Describe going in the fade as "horriblle" or "dangerous"
Be pro circle.
