True.  Red Lyrium is kind of the blood magic of DAI - as in "Why the hell is the PC allowed to use this stuff"?

It's made a little more jarring by the fact that superb corrupting runes are a dime a dozen by the endgame, while their opposite number - superb cleansing runes - require you to carefully farm revenants at rifts throughout the whole game to build one.

As for the red lyrium pack - those were the Red Lyrium Reaper weapons, if I recall correctly.  Nope, something called "reapers" raises no red flags in a BioWare game :P

The runes were at least distilled and contained, somehow. The 'Red Lyrium Reapers' were giant hunks of red lyrium on various lengths of stick.

Statues that look like petrified people that you see through out the game. And since petrification spells exist in game then I'm pretty sure those lifelike statues are people under that curse

Cole's total freak out when he found the man who 'killed' Cole made me jump: as Cole is usually sort of in the clouds, his sheer rage there is... well, frighting.

Agreed. I think he may have been only a few steps away from fulfulling his own worst fear and becoming a demon. Seeing compassion twisted into rage, anguish and then cold, bloodthirsty hatred really tore at me. That was brilliant writing and acting, the whole scene and both endings.

Aaah. I just found something horrible. Has anyone already talked about the Dwarf in front of the red lyrium vein in Emprise du lion?

It's bugged so that female Dwarf's body (with a female Dwarf's voice) have a bearded male Dwarf's head coming out above the hood. It looked at first like the Dwarf just had an absurdly long neck and malformed shoulders. It looked wrong. At first glance I thought it was intentional, that the red lyrium corruption had deformed the Dwarf.

Then I realized it was just a glitch. Lol.

Still very uncanny looking, though.

That gushing scene in the wilds.  Ugh.  It wasn't even animated well but the creep factor had me.  Other than that, the Ocularum cabin and Snowball got me the first time.  I was facing away from it the first time, and all I hear is Cole saying "So many legs!" before this nasty arachnid descends on my face.  Easy fight though

Also, anyone who sided with the Templars got Leliana's "Under Her Skin" instead of Cullen's Red Templar equivalent; There is a scene in the forge after returning from Val Royeaux that wasn't so creepy to me but Leliana and the Inquisitor looked like they were about to soil themselves.

There was a templar in Imsheal's keep where you could read the letters he wrote wanting to return to normal, and that he would do anything to get it. Then you found him in total hysterics saying: no, he would do anything, but not that and then died like it. _ i want to know so badly what he would have had to pay to return to normal, knowing his wish was so strong.

In the Dalish region where the Halla roamed on the shore there is a corpse, a man half-swallowed by a giant fish. UGH.

The letter the templar wrote to his daughter why he must take the red lyrium.

Most of the letters in Hinterlands.

The mage in the swamp that caused all the undead commotion. I couldn't find him, but I return to that map every now and then in the hope I can end his miserable existence.

The Fallow Mire?

Spoiler

And the guy half-swallowed by a fish actually made me laugh, I must be a bad person. :P

I'm on console and I can't take take them.  :( I was wishing I could so badly when I saw it. I was like, "Well, I didn't know this was happening!"

I was also wishing I could order Inquisition forces to haul dwarves standing transfixed in front of lyrium veins away from them, for their own good. Seriously, I know it might be problematic to restrict the movement of innocent people, but they're literally being driven insane...sometimes like twenty feet away from an Inquisition camp.

Exalted Plains and the state of some of the soldiers as you find their letters...crushed by a cart and crushed by a big creature thing...two of the worst ways to go...

I must go with the passable snow wall in Emprise du Lion. It is near the quarry, under the keep, where you pass through a long tunnel. There is a veil fire nearby. I thought it was a bug or something since I can walk through the snow wall into a room with staircase that leads you under the map, to a broken bridge. But it is still very creepy.

Oh I have another one.

When I first went to Crestwood to look for Loghain I met a woman named Jana, who told me she wanted to join the Grey Wardens because they had saved her life. I encouraged to do it (I'm not sure why, probably because Blackwall was there and I wanted some approval from him - the rest of my party disapproved of course) and immediately thought this decision would come back to haunt me before the end of the main quest. But I couldn't possibly know that the first cutscene in the Adamant Fortress would feature a terrified Jana being brutally murdered by Clarel. It was upsetting, to say the least. I literally sent her to her death

In addition to all those intentional ones, the glitch that meant when I was talking to Cullen at Haven, the soldiers behind him had no faces, just armour and helmet, and then the next time I went to speak to him there was just a body and no head.    I was thinking, "I know we're desperate for help but...." and made it really hard to concentrate on what he was saying.

The house in Redcliffe where you learn how the ocularum are made. The party members have heartbreaking comments about it too.

Chateau d'Onterre.

Meeting your red lyrium companions in Redcliffe Castle in the dark future.

Leliana's personal quest if you let her go full bard - she's terrifying.

Looting the blood-soaked teddy bear from the child's corpse in the Exalted Plains.

The hidden pyramid in Emprise du Lion. Don't touch it.

I finally found Chateau D'Onterre and I have to say how truly unsettling everything there was. Dark places where you can see glowing red eyes, the sound effects and especially how my controller would randomly vibrate throughout the place. The effect decreased once the place was inundated with zombies

Yeah, the Chateau was great  and really creepy. But I agree that the effect was lessened when the random zombie popped up here and there. And the Arcane Horror was a bit underwhelming. I feel that place deserved a unique demon or something.

I'd love for them to do a huge haunted castle for DLC.

So where is this creepy place on the storm coast? I'm at the house on the cliff by the astrarium, but no basement. Wrong house?

I believe it's on a hill called "Apostate's Landing" or some such. I went there after all the mentions in this thread, but unfortunately couldn't find the guy who drops the key.

Dunno about creepy but definitely a WTF moment.... Wandering around the Exalted Plains and finding a weapon schematic in a cowpat called The Sad Weapon. It's an axe made by nailing a banana to a stick.

Almost everything word out of Leliana's mouth creeps me out.

"Lady Nightingale makes me nervous."

Yes...yes she does.

I know I am late to this, however there is a tower in Emprise du Lion locked (i think), there is a note about a young boy meeting a young girl by the rifts and how he shouldn't take girls home that he met at rifts, then there are two dead bodies near the note.

Probably an easter egg like that cheese wheel shield in Crestwood.
