I thought people were making a mountain out of an anthill on this matter. Until now. I just got my 9th activated ability and realize I only have 8 spaces no matter what. Can't extend the bar, can't add a secondary bar, nothing. Absolutely absurd.

I don't think this is a UI problem per se. It's more like a problem with the fundamental design of the game, which is that we only get to use 8 activated abilities at a time.

In previous Dragon Age games, I moved my character forward by holding both mouse buttons. Because of the 'hold mouse to attack' feature, this option no longer exists. I have to move forward by pressing W with my middle finger, but I'd rather have that finger on my ability keys at all time. So in short, I wouldn't use my right index finger on anything else in this game, but that's because the newly introduced feature removes another feature.

Ah, thanks. I keep forgetting that LMB+RMB was ever in DA.

First...add more ram to your PC.  Don't be afraid to experiment with changing the settings.   I use a PC and after one day of tweaking...I got everything to work.

I've never really understood this. Do you not have hands with which to press the buttons?

I've been pretty evenly split on time spent playing between console and PC, and I (nor anyone I know) have no problems going from a KB/M to a controller, or vice versa. The only thing I could really call an "issue" is when I'm on a keyboard and a specific command is mapped to a key that is mapped away from WASD and the surrounding keys (or when I play an MMO like WoW, where you tend to have 57 keybinds for any particular action), but I can just remap the keys if that's the case. On a controller, everything is easy to reach and (so far) intuitive. I can't fathom why it would be inhibiting in any way, other than someone simply not owning one.

This ignores some of the fundemental mechanical issues and design decisions in the game. It's not just a key binding problem, as I and many others have stated repeatedly.

None of which has anything to do with being a so-called "console port", which makes your comment entirely off-topic.

if thats the case, you probably didnt grow up with the internet either and you still use that pretty well....  joysticks and controllers for computer games have been around since the 80s.  besides, the keyboard mouse setup is outdated and has a higher chance of giving you carpel tunnel, which at this point i wouldnt be surprised if it was linked to cancer.  I like gaming in comfort, not with my wrist curled into a hook because im too lazy to make it easier on myself

I started with controllers on my Atari, Master System, Saturn, and so on. Keyboard + Mouse is INFINITELY better. Even when I had PS2 controllers I always used KB+M and let my friends play with controller, to design a computer game not focused on KB+M is sick and Bioware should be crushed by a giant budah ass.

I'm waiting patiently for a patch, but what bothers me a lot is that we don't even know what is being patched, and bioware refuses to provide details.

I'm so angry that bioware thought they could release an rpg of this style without click to move, click to loot, a loot visibility toggle rather than ping, more easily viewable loot, auto-attacks, a good tactical camera, etc. I feel so angry and frustrated when trying to play this game, that I just stopped playing the day after launch, and I haven't touched the game since.

What also bothers me is that the official word from Bioware is that they don't think these control issues are that bad, and that they merely say its due to people's preferences, as if the higher pc control standards set by their previous products mean nothing. They act as if the problem is purely subjective. It's insulting to someone who's played their games all the way back to the first Baldur's Gate. The controls in DA:I are strictly worse compared to Origins or DA2. It is objectively worse.

I don't know what they will fix too, which is unnerving. I doubt they fix the loot problems. I have serious issues with the looting in DAI. I am so sick of not seeing loot on the screen easily after a ping. I am sick of how small the fonts are, or how they disappear after 1 second, or they are not visible sometimes unless you are close enough, etc. It is so time-consuming, tedious and frustrating.

The lack of auto-attacks makes the game feel so weighty too. Pressing 'r' and 'v' constantly is just so unnecessary. How this could have escaped QA, I will never know. It is indefensible, yet they chalk it up to preference and try to snakefully shift the blame away from their company. It's just insulting.

Anyone else feel this way? I just want Bioware to be punished somehow. It isn't right after their advertisements that they made a PC game. They really emphasized it, and they lied. It's fraud. And I'm just disappointed that over and over recently, this company never fails to disappoint. I don't know why I get hopeful anymore. I feel like the professional reviewers are also to blame. They don't even mention the game's problems, as if they were paid not to mention them.

It's just how I feel.

you bought the game. you never asked for the refund. EA/BW don't care about how you feel, they have sales figures and they think it's ok to continue on this path.

so.. get used to it and don't whine - there's more awkward/unpolished games to come. you can only blame yourself for not sending the right message - the only one they understand.

Keyboard and mouse are hardly outdate it's just people are lazy to learn it and use it cause you have much more control with a keyboard and a mouse and some games are totally unplayable without them. FPS are vastly better when played with a mouse. Most if not all high level gaming tournaments are played on PC with keyboard and mouse. And i m not talking only about PC exclusive MOBA's like LoL and Dota(which can't be played with a controler whatsoever) ... but also CS:GO and CoD.

And i m not one of those PC Master Race guys despite being a PC gamer. Some games are indeed better with a controller than with keyboard and mouse but those game are definetely not RPGs. I play sports game on my PC with a PS controller and i find keyboard usage in those game quite awkward. But saying keyboard and mouse is outdated means you are probably a console gamer unaware of what's going on in PC gaming
