I would record it, but I just don't have enough disc space. If I use fraps (which I do) I get a 20 GB video for 5 minutes of recording.
And most of use have banter, as long as we idle. So IMO the test is useless, because I want to hear the banter while I explore the world and not while I just stand around.
Thank you so much for your input, but I keep whining until this is fixed.
You should try OBS to record. I use it and the file sizes are more reasonable.

I HAVE CLOCKED 40 HRS SINCE PATCH 3. ON A FRESH INSTALL AND NEW GAME...
BANTER IS ALMOST NON EXISTANT. SO THE CLAIM FROM THE DEVS THAT IT WILL RESET IS FALSE...
Yeah, I've also created a new character after the patch and did a reinstall.
I didn't notice any difference.
**Question for anyone who wants to answer: Do any of you have that English Voice over pack installed on your English region computer? I'm wondering if that was the issue. I tried to stop it from installing but it installed anyway. I want to see if I can try uninstalling and reinstalling to stop it again but I'm afraid it would be a waste of time...again.

Something that I've been wondering if it might be related to the issue: this game takes waaaaay too damn long to just exit so what I usually do is save the game, exit to menu, alt-tab and then close the game from the desktop. I can't really imagine why that would effect banter but I'm kinda desperate for an explanation that doesn't involve code fairies here.

Thanks for the response Dark!
At least that's something I can rule out.
@Fredward, yeah at this point I'm looking for any possible issue, perhaps I just got a bad game? There is no way I'm buying another copy though. lol!

My party banter feels off. I played the game recently for around 6 hours. I was in the swamp/zombie area for the missing ferelden soldiers. Out of about 6 hours of gameplay I only had about 6 or 7 party banters in total. So 1 banter every hour or so. Maybe in combat party members do not talk to each other which is the problem? Enemy's respawn way too fast in this game and its even worse in this area because every time you go in the water more zombies spawn.
Could too much combat be what is causing a total loss in banter between party members? If so, that is what is wrong. Too much combat from enemies that respawn way too fast.
My party consisted of myself, vivienne, dorian and cassandra.
Guess it doesn't matter because we're not supposed to discuss bugs in biowares forums according to their employees (allan schumacher).

Before patch 3 also closed the game so, and party banner still work. After patch 3 everything went wrong, and now is constant silence.

New new or the one from last night? Cause if its the one from last night, don't hold your breath too much :S
PS. That last bit of advice holds true for many things, not just Dragon Age....

What I have noticed is that it seems to take about 30 mins CUMULATIVE of idle time for banter to engage after traveling. That means a total of 30 minutes out of combat. Takes me an hour or two to get there but it seems to add up as you play and, eventually banter engages.
That may explain why people get banter after standing still for a while, it fills that idle timer and, initiates banter. Obviously if you fast travel from fight to fight, you will need a long time, and probably finish the zone w/o banter.
If this is the case, perhaps the Devs can reduce that to say 3 minutes - then the rest of the banter routine would kick in soon after entering a zone and, maybe we'd all consider it working finally.

That might really be the case. Since patch 3 it takes forever until I hear my first banter when I enter a map. They really should change that. I don't want to idle somewhere for 30 minutes until my banter kicks in.

Everything was allright for me until the patch 3. They were chatting very-very often. For example Solas,Cole and Viviene had bantering three times in like 30 minutes including battles and so on. And now it's like once per 1-2 hours or even worse.

Like everyone else, gettin incosistent banter or none. Reinstalled the game and is the same. What DarkAmaranth said is legit, since they changed the randomness of the banter with the new patch, there´s some pattern we are missing and Bioware don´t want to explain. For example, for me it takes 20 minutes in game to the banter to fire, BUT, always after i close a breach. Never get banter early if i don´t do that. If i´m just fooling around, banter takes like 40 minutes or an hour to kick. And is really poor, been playing 3 hours and had only 3 banters. 1 per hour like someone said before. Then starts to die, 1 every 2-3 hours and so.
So sad to see people (glad for them tho) uploading Youtube videos with the 4, 5, 6 hours of banter they enjoyd and i´m here struggling to get at least 1 line of dialogue between my companions. Man i feel empty while i play.
I would like to see some gameplay with consistent party banter, to see how often kicks when is working properly.

Before the patch 3 while I left the characters just standing around I've gotten at least 2 banters in an hour. Today I left them for 2 hours and not a single banter ![]()

pay??? NAW! Never again. I already paid 70 Euro for a cheap console port....
There'll always be stupid guys who will pay them for useless DLC.....
They are too busy tweeting about "free bard songs" to care about patch notes. C'Mon Man! What are you expecting .... actual notes to accompany a patch? Geez...
No, they are too busy fixing Varric doing squats or fixing exploit who harmed no one instead of repair Solas' quest......

I always have banters in Hinterlands. It's later in game when it's broken for me.

2 banters in 10 hours when one of them was shortest piece of crap it possibly could be.
Sera: "Dwarves are weird".
Varric: "Yup"
Sera: "You was supposed to say no...".
Fking great banter. Seems like it's time to watch this game on YT instead of actually trying to play this piece of sht.

The more you play the more it breaks, it seems. I had plenty banter in first PT, not that much in my second one and now in my third is almost non-existant or way too random and strange.
Had 1 yesterday after an hour playing. Was one of those in wich you can intervene. Was so happy almost cried, cause never had one of those, Blackwall asking to Sera about our relationship, Sera saying something like "We have goood time togheter" and the dialogue wheel where i had 2 options, laugh or be angry with Sera cause was a private matter. The game felt so alive, so... mine, like, it was responding to one of my choices.
Then i realised that wasn´t goin to happen again. Layd down in the floor...

I have an idea, how about simply reverting back to DA2 banter system? I had zero issues with that game, constant banter especially when I enter a new area. Repeat banters do occur but not often enough to annoy me. Please BioWare, don't force the PC players to have to rely on the modding community to address this issue.
