An interesting find on:  http://www.reddit.co...rty_banter_mod/

This mod on Nexus is meant to speed up the leveling, as in it reduces the curve in which you level, adding only 100 XP for each further level. However it seems to have the added bonus(perhaps a happy anomaly) of making banter trigger more often. People on reddit report 3-4 banters in about 45 minutes, where as they had none for hours before. Keep in mind, i have just installed it, and in about 30 minutes i got 2 banters in Emprise Du Lion, where i usually have nothing. It was on my first save, which was made at release, and perhaps is quite corrupted when it comes to banter. Sure for those 30 minutes i also fought a dragon, but the banter fired right away after. This is what i've gotten out of it so far. Hope it helps.

Here's the link to the mod on Nexus :

http://www.nexusmods...&preview=&pUp=1

Will definitely give this a try.

Update:  Yep, banter picked up after installing mod.  I'm not sure I really care for the leveling but I intend to have just enough power to move to the main quests so I don't think it's going to matter much.

I am trying the mod as well...but seriously...

why can't they do this? It's like they are intentionally finding the most roundabout ways to fix the issue. At this point I WOULD ****** LOVE IT if banter fired off every 5-10 mins even if it was at set intervals thereby "ruining" immersion. (obviously the intervals are adjusted by combat etc.)

Before you do anything with your save games you need to back them up. I always do that before installing a mod or editing the saves.

That's not what I am talking about. When I tweak a save game today and have party banter, that's fine. So I maybe play another 50 hours from now on with banter. But what if a new patch in - say - three weeks will make the game to refuse to load my tweaked save games? I do not go back to my old un-tweaked save game from 50 hours before to start it all over again. It's a risk I don't want to take.

Usually, from what i gather, a new patch makes the Merged Patch from the Mod manager not usable. When that happens, you go back to the manager and merge it again, and replace the old one. Since i guess you are not exactly tweaking the savegames themselves but the game file for XP.

Yes we do.

Here's an update on the upcoming patch 3 for PC.

Relevant for here is the following: "Based on feedback from our players, we tweaked the banter system to be less random in order to prevent extra-long periods of silence."

I can't comment on the release, but will provide future updates when possible.

I appreciate the tweak to the banter system, thank you :)

Ah okay, now I understand what you mean and why you won't take that risk. But there is always the ModManager alternative. I really hope the next patch will fix the banter for everyone.

That's how I did it after patch 3. I had no problems at all.

It seems that everytime there is a patch update,  there is a chance that it will break the DAI mod manager but the modders get it updated in a day or two so risk is minimal for now.

Hm. The mod author even made a slower leveling version and i tried both. Sadly for me(typical...), neither seem to be doing anything for my banter. Spent over an hour on 3 different saves each, and i never got more than 2 banters. And those were at random intervals too. Sigh, wish the actual developers would fix this already, or at least say something about it. At this point i'd only like to know if they care to fix this or i should just "deal with it". Fat chance of that happening tho.

I'm already aware that I'm adding nothing new to the conversation, but I heard minimal banter before the patch, and just sat with the game running for an hour to see if it had improved. New save, new party members, no enemies nearby to interrupt. Nothing. I heard music and environmental sounds, but the companions sat there in absolute silence for the whole hour.

Going to try the mod next, but put it this way, I'm not shelling out for DLC until this issue is properly fixed.

What area? Banter isn't enabled in all areas, so you may be in a zone where it's not intended to run.

The only observation I have is that the delay from loading a game to hearing the first banter seems to be a bit long (though I've never timed it), and it gets reset whenever you load. It used to be that banter could play quite soon after loading a saved game (sometimes almost immediately); that no longer seems to be the case, and you can easily end up with no banter at all if you keep save/loading before any plays (in my experience at least).

Like others have suggested, it seems the environmental remarks do count as banter (this matters more now that the system seems to be less random, since there's a fixed amount of time you'll need to wait before you can get another chance at banter).

I cleared the Western Approach yesterday, I had one banter in the Still Ruins, but none in the WA itself. Then I started the Winter Palace and when I was done with it I went to the Exalted Plains. After more than 90 minutes in pure silence I knew something was wrong. I started the game a couple of times and used the blood magic but nothing. So I edited the save game again and after 5 minutes banter was back.

Played for two hours, primarily in WA,  and as usual there was no banter. No banter in the Exalted plains either, though I didn't spend the whole time there. I got scripted comments about the Still Ruins, and I think one environment comment from Bull? (something about dry heat?)

I'm leery of using this mod but I might give it a go.

Wait. What?

It seems that the DAI CLI Save Editor really improves the banter for me, even on a mid-game save. Best thing is, that I don't need to do all the workarounds now.

But I'm curious why the banter stopped after the WA +Winter Palace. Maybe on my next pt, I'll try the mod, if Bioware hasn't fixed the bug by then.

Hmm, so the effect of tweaking the save game file once isn't permanent?

I'm not sure. It might have been my fault that the banter disappeared. I closed the game via the Task Manager a couple of times while the game auto saved, because of a bug in the Winter Palace (sometimes my game is freezing when I try to use the door between the vestibule and the ballroom).

Just tested this DAICLISaveEditor + DAISaveChunkEditor ritual. Exported *.DASFACE from a save file, edited some values and imported it back into the save file. Then played this save game for 20 minutes in the Hinterlands. No banter at all. *sigh*

I am playing on PS4 and did not experience any banter problems so far I knew. Lots of chit chat. Since patch #4 - there is almost no banter. Is this a problem other have experienced?

I'm on my 2nd playthrough now, specifically waited to begin it until after the patch came out (I'm on console, so it only came out a little while ago.)  So far all I've really noticed is that musical cues play alot now. I've got 3 banters in 6 hours, granted maybe 1/2 that is Prologue/Haven/Val Royeaux where there is no banter, which leaves 3 banters in 3 hours of play time - still not a good ratio.

BTW, why not banter in Val Royeaux?  It seems like the perfect place for it.

But if the patch makes it so that Bull & Cassandra or Varric & Dorian will actually speak to each other I'll be happy.

So this patch actually causes problems where none existed previously? Yikes. Hopefully next patch will fix what was not broken.

Looks like the banter problem affects more to PC users. Not saying it doesn´t exists on consoles, but in PC looks more like a general problem. And i mean Next-gen consoles, cause ps3-Xbox 360 are suffering a lots of issues. Someone correct me if i´m wrong.

My guess is that there are just more PC users reporting their problems online.  For what it's worth, my personal experience has been the opposite.  We have both the PC and PS4 versions at my house.  On PC (without the latest patch and hotfix) I get regular banter.  On our PS4 (updated with the latest patch), there is zero banter.  I just spent almost two hours in the hinterlands on the PS4 without a singe instance of banter firing.  Before this week, I hadn't played the PS4 version since shortly after launch, so I don't know if it was this latest patch that borked things, but things are definitely borked.

Off to google blood magic rituals ....

Did you use ModManagerV2? Some people had this problem when they used the old Version of the ModManager.
