here is the link to the patch 6 cheat engine banter toggle

http://forum.bioware...4#entry18722414

At this point it's fair to say they aren't going to fix it, and even if they did i don't think their intention was for it to be nearly as often as fans would prefer. Just use the cheat engine or resign yourself to the fact you're never going to get a good amount of banter...they're not going to patch it at this point.

I updated to Patch 6 and heard banter everywhere between everyone. But since I installed the DLC, I get nothing. I ran around the Hinterlands, Storm Coast and the Fallow Mire with Vivienne, Solas and Blackwall for over 3 hours and heard nothing. I chose these three since I don't usually travel with this group together so I knew there would be conversations that hadn't been heard. I got nothing. Nada. Squat and crickets chirping.

Actually I didn't get crickets chirping. They were silent too.

So I'm guessing it's a DLC issue since they sent us a ton of programming to prepare for the DLC release in Patch 6.

I'll just turn on my ipod for a while....

That's odd, it randomly started working again. Well, kinda randomly, the next time I fired it up after checking off all my unread log and codex entries, as some have suggested, as well as having few extra chats at camp.

Of course now I've said it's working that'll be the kiss of death and I'll never hear another word out of them...

On the PS3, I had one game pre-patch 5 (I think,) and it had plenty of banter. Started another game concurrently with that one, and it had no banter at all. I just started another game post-patch 6, and again, I'm getting plenty of banter.

Someone mentioned a while back about the journal getting clogged up, which seems to influence banter. Although there's no definitive answer, that does seem to have some truth to it: if I tick off my completed quests, I'll get the quest completion message (again, often) after which banter seems to resume.

But given its random triggering it is quite hard to tell or if it's just unhelpful randomness.

This is frankly egregious. I've done two playthroughs, and I want to start a third, but finishing the second was nothing short of a chore. With no banter, the game just drags. How can this possibly be unfixable?

I just want to say that whether it was the latest patch or the dlc (yeah I put DAI aside for a month or so), I found myself getting considerably more banter in Frostback Basin than I had ever gotten without using Cheat Engine.

Was I just lucky?

I haven't heard that solution vometia, but it does make sense. What can they talk about if they haven't done anything? I'll make sure I've ticked off my quests and see what happens. Since I wrote my post I've had banter trigger but nowhere near as often as I was getting before I installed Jaws of Hakkon. Here's hoping!

So how exactly do you "tick off" your quests?  I am running PC and see no obvious way to do this,  any help?

Click on an area (Say The Hinterlands) then Click the expand button at the bottom.

Then click on each quest that has a red dot next to it.

Don't forget to do this for the collections and the Completed tabs!

Yeah, it's the "completed" ones that seem to be the problem.  If they still have a star next to them, some of them get into a state where they're stuck and not properly flagged as completed.  Once they're clicked on the quest completion message often pops up again and then party banter resumes.  I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I do the same with the codex entries too (though it's often a pain trying to find the ones that have updates) as the same thing happens there too.  As far as I can tell, it's just the completed quests getting stuck in limbo that seem to block party dialogue.

Seems my list of stuff to check on when I get back to Skyhold is gradually lengthening: check inventories for best items, check upgrades, sell stuff I don't want except for stuff I collect which goes into my fancy new chest, think about crafting new items, turn in creature parts and what-not, check requisitions, chat with anyone who needs chatting with, tick off any codex and journal entries I've missed.  Argh!  Memories of the infamous locker shuffle in Mass Effect.  Though it's still not quite as bad as that.

I posted a new party banter guide: http://forum.bioware...y-banter-guide/

This one hasn't been updated in a while, and from my own gaming experience, I feel there's other factors to take into account as to why people might not be hearing banter.

I'm not sure if it's patch or just DLC, but characters now banter even if they dead

So I caved and downloaded the manual banter trigger for patch 6, and though the table opens in cheat engine the number keys don't seem to be working. I'm using a controller but I was told the key should work anyway if numlock was on. I didn't test it without the controller but since I can't play games with the keyboard it wouldn't help.

Ohhhh nevermind, I got it working! How lovely to hear everyone talking. Here's a question though. Will I hear banter the companions would have been having at the beginning of the game? If I'm half way through the plot did I miss a ton of conversations they'll never have with each other now?

Strange. In JoH my party banter works just fine. Other places not so much.

Welp, I have banter. It's not as often as I'd like, but I think it's happening at more or less the intended rate. I make sure ALL codex and journal entries are marked as read as I go through the game, which is a hassle, but at least sometimes companions talk now.

Of course, I am super anxious about downloading JoH or Black Emporium on the 5th, because God only knows what might or will cause banter to stop working again.

Stress. Sigh.

Well I never had any issues with banter before... it was happening all the time, whatever party member I had.  Now with this latest playthrough...nothing.  I'll check the completed quests thing and see if it has any effect.  It is way too quiet now.

Last time I played was in December and I didn't get any banter. I just started another playthrough and I'm still not getting any banter. This is a little ridiculous. We're almost at 6 months after release and some of us are still stuck with what is essentially an unfinished product.

I have completed the game once and I am halfway through a second playthrough and I do intend to play more. I have heard perhaps 1/4 of the banter available while playing close to 400 hours. I'm still holding out hope that this problem will be fixed in time.

Are there any more patches coming that could fix this? I actually never got to play DA:I because of this bug. I started and quit after about 10-15 hours in after I found out about this. The game has been collecting dust ever since.
