While I never had any problems with not having any banter before, (they don't talk much atm, but that is/was because I didn't do any main quests in a while) since Patch 7 (the one which went out one day before Black Emporium)  my party stutters.

An example:
Solas: "Wir sollten hier lang gegegegehen." (We should gogogo this way.)

This started after the new patch and hadn't happened before.

So I just started to get party banter after patch 6. Now after patch 7 I'm having party banter from a companion not in my current party. Anyone have this problem? Just curious.

I haven't kept up with the patches but it seems like they did nothing to improve the situation right?

Is the Banter trigger (the CE one) still not working with the newest patch? Is there any news on that? I want to come back to DA:I for another playthrough with the DLC and I'm pondering on either buying it for PC or on PS4 when it releases there next week. I prefer to play on PS4 but the banter trigger was such an improvement of the broken banter situation that I'd rather play with that on PC than without it on PS4. Frankly, I'd rather not play DA:I at all without it, all things considered...

Sigh. :(

So, does Bioware know about the no banter in the Western Approach problem, or does that work fine on their end too? Or is the Western Approach issue only for some players?

andaran atishan. I'm having lots of trouble with Nu Titan's CheatEngine banter fix Cheatable. first it wasn't connecting to my game at all, but now a new problem has arisen after i solve that one.

After banging around for an hour or so and trying all of those, out of desperation I manually changed the address on the Cheat engine line by right clicking, change address and then making the address '95631CE0". to do this, though, I would have to uncheck the box 'Pointer' under the scroll down that says 'float'. after that, with 'toggle' selected, the 0's that were under 'value' flickered to a number and I heard the sweet, sweet sound of my beloved Sera's voice. I was really happy because I thought it had been fixed, but within the next fifeteen minutes, after four or so minutes the 'value' would flicker to a number for a second and then back to 00, and i wouldn't hear anything. any ideas on how to get this freakin' game to work properly?

Without wanting to dismiss the issues some are having, the latest patch (on PC) seems to have non-region, non-quest specific banter firing somewhat more reliably.  My companions are still not what I would call "chatty", but in an hour or two of gameplay I can easily get 5 or 6 instances of the non-scripted banter, which is a vast improvement over 0-1 instances.  If that qualifies as 'working as intended', then, great, I guess - although it would be nice if it happened a little more frequently.

it was so nice in DA:O and DA:2 there were definant banter hot-spots most of them were in towns / cites or certain areas either coming or going. you could change out charactres and get the random banter  and story-line banter.  Isabela talking about Fenris's fisting abilies,  or Morrigan teasing Alister  or Ogrin toying with Sigrin you could relay on it and it was more frequent. even when you changed out part members just to hear the banter in those hot-spots, but I go 15 min to an hour before I hear anyyting from the party and theire is no ambioant music to fill the silence  this is worse then regeritating dungons for DA:2 were you guys decide to flip the map and the same dungun area seved as the Amell Estate's bacement, then a place that looked like the deep rodes with demon books and what not.  Come on you people know your fans love the banter and while it was so frequent in the 1st 3 games there is hardely any in DA:I its not about exhausting it, its just plan lazieness how difficult is it to use the same trigger points as you had in the past?

And perhaps they don't use auto trigger points because the world spaces are simply so large and comptehesive

I haven't tried it since the 1.07 update, but have you tried sending Nu titan a PM?

Hmm, well this is my first time posting in this thread, and I just read the first post where it says banter doesn't recycle. Yet, I've heard the saaaame banter between Cole and Vivienne about 20+ times. "With so many rifts marking the world, I am surprised any demons nearby do not fall back through." OMG, everytime Viv opens her mouth and starts with "With", I know the banter has just begun again. Also, the Dorian and Vivienne banter where they talk about Morrigan has repeated about 5+ times, multiple different banters between Dorian and Cole have repeated, and I'm sure there are a few other banters that have repeated at least twice that I can't remember right now.

Also the Dorian and Varric betting on whether the Elder One with beat the Inquisitor or not.

Is this issue only on the PC? Because the banter on my PS3 version has been working properly for a good long time now. It's a shame they haven't fixed this yet.

No, I'm on 360 and banter is still like unicorn poop. I think it's slightly better than it was, but I maybe hear something  once every hour or two, and it really depends who's in my party.

Hmm...I'm certain I've never heard either of those (70-something hours into third playthrough).

As mentioned above - still not overly chatty, but Sera and Cassandra seem to have the most to say to each other (for me, at least).

Haven't fired up DAI in two months but at patch 5, the banter seemed to work fine on PC.  Unsure if this issue was resolved on consoles.

Oddly enough, on PS4, the Western Approach is where I'm currently getting more banter than I think I've had the entire game thus far! I think it may be a randomly occurring problem for everyone.

What always seemed odd to me is that they made it so there is no banter in Val Royeaux.   I would have thought that would have been one of the best places for it since you only go there to talk to people or buy stuff and there is absolutely no danger of companions starting a conversation just as you are about to be attacked by a random critter that has crept up on you while you are standing around picking herbs and waiting for someone to talk.

The odd thing is that the companions are much more chatty in JoH.    I got to level 24 on the main game, having done all the areas but only had about half of the conversations between Dorian and Cole, yet the moment we get to the Frostback Basin they start on all the rest.     Same with Cassandra, who was the person I kept swapping out with other companions because I specifically wanted to keep Dorian and Cole together to get their conversations.    I've got dialogue with Dorian that I've never previously got in other play throughs but only once I reached the Frostback Basin.        It must have more trigger points that other areas or they are simply working better.

Yes, it seems to actually work as intended in that area. It's odd that they managed to get it to work there, but still can't fix it anywhere else.

It doesn't seem like they're gonna fix the bug. Its been close to 8 months and nothing has changed for me. I just hope they go back to the DAO/DA2 banter system in future games. The current system is terrible.

The party banter still absolutely sucks in this game.  I'll walk around a typical map for an hour and maybe hear my party members banter once or twice during that time.  Where was all this supposed "party members banter a lot" stuff we heard leading up to release?

There was more party banter in DA1 and DA2.  Games are supposed to improve or gain features with each iteration, not lose features.

I have replayed an entire game with patch 7.  Party banter is worst than it was before, on 1.0.

I've had some weird code errors with 360...ummm running two romances at once (never heard anyone with this bug but me) credit for neither, but party banter worked for me on 360 and PC.

Where are the chief complaints from...what platform, I mean?
