Will we get a harder difficulty eventually?

WIth people already succeeding quite readily in perilous difficulty, one has to wonder. Is it ever going to get harder?

And if so, would we get a new difficulty mode?

Example idea:

Treacherous difficulty

It would be a mix of all three factions commanders copied and pasted all over the place as basic mooks (same amount of health and abilities though, just scaled up) with a bias towards one of the three for the first four stages and the final boss enemy would be a red lyrium dragon with several infinitely respawning demon commanders functioning as mooks.

I mean a new difficulty will probably happen, and it should probably be way harder than the easy example I gave.

Do you think a new difficulty should happen?

I wouldn't mind a "infinite dungeon" mode where each stage would be a random selection of map with random enemy types and the game would get progressively harder while giving a exp/gold bonus for each stage you complete, the longer you last, the more reward you'll get. Of course, eventually you're going to get a room full of Demon Commander that do 200% more damage. ;)

An infinite dungeon would be cool.  Combined enemy units on random map tile-sets, with every 5th tile-set being a boss room.  Escalating in difficulty every time a boss dies.

Not necessarily difficulty level related but would be cool to have different faction fighting each other with players in the mix. Bioware couldn't do it with ME3MP, so I wonder if it is possible with DAMP?

Now I'm not supposed to say this, but I'm actually best friends with the sandwich guy that delivers to the BioWare studios.  Now he said that it's totally official that there'll be a harder difficulty.  Apparently, what happens is you open the door to the first zone and 4 Templar Shadows leap out and shank the party.  There you have it folks, super official like.

That would be freaking cool.

As neat as extra difficulties are, I'd really like to see some maps pop up that have more meaningful objectives.  Assaulting a keep would be a lot of fun.  Merge the random areas with a bit of player choice.  Give us some options on how we want to assault the keep and then randomly generate the respective choices.  Maybe one run you choose to scale the walls and fight your way down.  Turns out that the enemy forces were concentrated on the gate and it's a relatively path across the walls and down into the interior of the keep.  The next time around, you think "Well ****, that worked great last time, lets do it again!".  So up you go, scaling the walls only to find that one of their high level commanders is on the wall rallying the soldiers and what was a relatively easy fight last time has turned into a desperate battle atop the walls.

... that said, my idea sounds far more complicated, so I'd wager we'll see a harder difficulty long before we see something like what I proposed.  Either way, it'll be cool to see where MP goes with future DLC.

Infinite random dungeons! I love the sound of that.

I don't really find the difficulty design fun, there has to be better ways of increasing difficulty without just make every mob 2 shot kill you.

I just wish I could find people to play perilous with on PS4. Every time I search one it never finds one and makes me host. Sit and wait and one person will join in five minutes. A level 1 archer :'( if anyone is actually down to play perilous add me on PS4. WizardSleeev. Don't care if you use mic or not as long as you stay with the group. I have a 80mb down 21mb up connection and everyone I've played with loves my host. Just putting that out there.

If this follows the line of ME3 MP updates, it will.
ME3 MP eventually got platinum difficulty which saw harder enemies and combinations of enemies factions in one game.

It would be awesome, just imagine:

'Our most experienced agents infiltrated the enemy stronghold. After many challenging battles, treacherous traps they managed to plunder the most strongly defended vault we ever encountered. They all are very happy with their new level 1 white daggers.'

Great, hype for higher difficulty, but no one wants to do highest available.

I almost exclusively do perilous if I found a good party. I found we beat it just the same amount as threatening and the only time we fail perilous is the same reason we fail threatening. Dumb mistakes or poor planning.
