Or an Amell or a Tabris or whatever the Warden's last name is, does Kieran take on that Surname?
Is Kieran a Cousland?

If he was raised by Morrigan alone, he has no family name. If he was raised with one of the fathers from the Origins, he might have a last name OR Alistair OR Loghain, he might be a Cousland, an Aeducan, a Brosca, a Tabris, a Marariel, an Amell, a Surana, a Theirin or a Mac Tir... I figure Morrigan decided not to give him a last name.

I would hope so, I mean she does know the father's surname so it only makes sense...unless she wants to keep Kieran's father a secret if the Warden didn't romance her.

Seeing as my Warden king and Anora are likely never going to have a kid of their own, I'm hoping to see King Kieran Cousland one day

Don't think he needs one/has one...Fergus should watch out though, now that the old god thing didn't work out...

no he is a bastard, to have a royal bloodline no matter of wich family, parents must have royal bloodline, morrigan do not have it.
You mean like Alistair?

Kieran is a boy born out of wedlock so I don't think he has a last name.
He would need to be acknowledged by his father & need to be recognised by the Ferelden monarch
Plus Morrigan is trying to keep him secret from Flemeth & God knows who else so him being legitimised only puts a target on his head.
Anyway, Kieran will be just fine without a last name. He has a mother (& farther in my playthrough) who loves him very much and that's all that really matters!

Some people were joking about Leliana being Divine years ago and look what happened in DAI.

In my main Origins playthrough, I really just wanted to save my Cousland Warden and Alistair so they could reign together, get married, be happy, and all that, so poor Kieran was just, like, collateral damage, really. SO NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS IS EVER, EVER, EVER GOING TO HAPPEN (I feel like such a terrible person right now, BUT I HOPE HE NEVER DARES TRY TO STEAL THE THRONE FROM ANY BABY THEIRINS MY WARDEN MAY HAVE WITH ALISTAIR BY NOW).
Poor Kieran. ![]()

With my Cousland they'd have the exact opposite problem of Kieran being acknowledged by his father. He's too proud of his kid not to go around making sure everyone knows he's his son. As soon as it would be safe to do so at least...

Alistair is only able to claim a throne because might made right. Technically he wasn't in the line of succession because he was a bastard that never was legitimized.
Kieran is basically in the same boat and also was never legitimized. He could neither lay claim to the Cousland holdings or the throne of Ferelden without using force.

However, since he doesn't exist in some world states, we are unlikely to see Kieran in any major role in future DA installments. It's different from Leliana. Sure, you could defeat her, but it's not like it took a player choice to start her existence.

Spoiler. The next closest person in line would probably be Connor Guerrin.

This.
Magic was made to serve man, never to rule over him. Once Connor got outed as a mage he was longer able to inherit. That is also why the arling of Redcliffe passes to Eamon's younger brother Teagan, instead of to Connor.

Kieran is a Snow.
Just pray he stays Kieran and doesn't become Ramsay II.
Anyway, even if a Cousland warden legitimized him, he still wouldn't hold any claim to Highever, since the Cousland warden lost their claim as well when they became a Warden. Not to mention that Kieran is a mage too.

This.
If Fergus got remarried and has children (likely..he kind of has to as a noble), it would pass to his child even if Kieran were legitimized. Also if Kieran turns out to be a mage, legitimized or not, he'll be ineligible to inherit anything south of Tevinter.
Considering his mother is Morrigan and he has Flemeth for a grandmother, I'd be shocked if he didn't turn out to be a mage as well.

Well, theoretically, a Cousland-bred Kieran could be legitimised and should the elder Cousland die without any sort of heirs, Kieran could be shuffled into play to take terynship.
There's also the 'Oh well we got married in the Blight but the Darkspawn ate our marriage certificate. Trust me, I'm the Warden-Commander' excuse.
The rights of mages has changed. In a pro-mage ending, people might accept even a mage Kieran.
